Early indicators for dice rolls lead me to believe that Catell may be this party's Resident Badass.

Hey Legendary Sidekick! I'm not the DM, but if I could award XP for entertaining posts you'd be getting at least 200. Great job with Baldhart!

Thanks. I may have to think about using her as an MC someday. Her internal dialogue with Nissa is fun to write.

Ankari, I like how your character sees Baldhart's eyes dilate whenever she talks to Nissa.

Yea, I thought that was pretty cool. Goes to show what careful reading and creative thinking can do in-game.

And some good news: We've got another PC joining us when we arrive at port. The character looks like fun, and I know the mind behind it is certainly creative. Welcome to Dragon's Egg, Myrddin173!

Thanks for the welcome Sparkie. I'm so happy something like this got started here. It's something I've wanted to start with my friends offline but has just never happened. I'm just looking forward to my character meeting everyone else's, they are all some variant of good and my guy is neutral leaning towards evil...

Heh. My character isn't good, he's True Neutral. XD Should be interesting if/when they meet up.

Aw, crap! I gotta draw another ava--er, I mean, WELCOME!!!

Seriously, I want to re-draw avatars at some point. I'm glad you guys liked what I sent, but it was a rush job. I scanned pencil images drawn on graph paper. I want to at least clean up the images, if not re-draw them.

Steerpike, what pixel size do you need them to be (assuming it will be consistent with each map)? The ones I sent are 100x100, but I think you shrunk them, and the entire image may have been shrunken when posted in the thread (though the map image comes out clean. It doesn't appear to have been scaled). If you know the exact pixel size you need, I'll send the updated images at that size.

Also, the enemy avatars seem to match the PC avatars well in the sense that they are faces in thick-bordered squares. Are enemies going to consistently be faces in square boxes? If so, I'll stick to face-in-a-box for the good guys, even if I make a couple subtle design changes.

I scaled the images by 50% when I used them for the map. They actually looked fine that way, but the forums reduced the size of the images even further when posting.

I like having the larger avatar, because the size is going to change depending on how much of a map I am showing. If I am showing only a small part, I can zoom in and use a bigger image. I can easily scale down the images so the look fine, but when I post here the additional scaling isn't as good.

Two alternatives come to mind: I can break the map up into smaller images so that each one shows larger; or I can just provide a link to the images off-site instead of posting them in the thread. I am leaning toward the first option.

Enemies will probably be faces inside a frame most of the time. It depends on what images I can find online :) At least having a consistent look for the good guys is nice.

I agree 100%. Thanks again for your hard work on this, Legendary Sidekick. I know it take some time, but it's so great to have a look that's a true 'MS' original. That's one thing that could really set this RPG apart, other than the overall quality of writing. I can't speak for everyone, but I feel like most of us have something to contribute to the campaign. I'll be looking for opportunities to show similar support where I can. Just don't ask me to draw anything. My 'stick figures' could bring a real artist to tears. ;)

Hey Steerpike, what are our general time limits to post? I ask because I work second-shift, and during weekdays I'm not typically able to post until after 11:00 pm CST. There may be some days I can post between Noon and 2:00 pm CST, but not with any predictable regularity. I hope that's not a problem.

Generally I like to post every twenty-four hours at least. It is not set in stone. For example, last night when I got in I noticed not every player had posted so I decided to wait until this morning for my next post.

Cool! I'm glad you take into consideration whether everyone has posted. I'm assuming you have a plan for those times when a player in unexpectedly unable to post for a couple days that is not punitive to the player, but I personally don't mind losing a day every now and then so we could wait for a player.

I agree with Sparkie. The writing quality overall is awesome, and I'm enjoying the interactions. Even though my impale plan was overkill, and may have backfired had the creature been impaled alive, that was an awesome first kill for my girl! My enthusiasm is part of the reason why I'm making avatars for everyone.

Whatever you think works best, but I like the way you're posting the ship image now because I can see every part of the battle without having to scroll up and down. Avatar sizes are fine other than the names being impossible to read.

If you're going to have maps that are more zoomed in, I suppose I can just leave the names on the avatars and if we can read them, fine; if not, I don't think it's really a problem.

Regarding avatar updates, I'll keep the design consistent (hairstyles and such, unless anyone specifically says, "my guy grew a mustache--draw it!"), but as characters develop I may have a better idea about personalities.

How do you guys feel about me capturing moments from our first battle for the avatars? Rydh with an aura from his first spell is one thought. Maybe Baldhart will look like "Braveheart" with a crazy-eyed face covered in blue warpaint and blood, thanks to her impaling stunt. Matthew rushed the boss, so maybe him rushing with a flowing cape already works, but I should add the spear to show he's using the Tyr followers weapon of choice. For our archers: Cadell taking careful aim (face implies cursing as target is obstructed by ally) and maybe Ankari with hix axe in hand to immortalize his place as the first party member to attack.

If you're making edits to our avatars, LS, might I suggest a couple to mine? Cadell's skin is pale, not dark, and his eyes are grey, not blue. Apologies if I sound nitpicky. ^^;

Hey cats - next round coming up shortly. Been a busy morning!

In answer to the question on Intimidate, I treat it as having a general effect on the creature so long as the Barbarian is still in sight of the target, for the course of the duration of the intimidate.

Would anyone here get on board if I started a thread that served as a "campfire talk" or "tavern table" in-character discussion? It would basically serve as a thread where our characters could converse in a relatively secure setting. We could use dialogue to explore out characters and build relationships of a sort. Whaddya think?
