Oh... right! Well, Goros is young (20s?—I don't want him pukishly young. Pukishly, as in I'd puke if I wrote about a teenager swording* monsters to death), but that makes sense since humans are supposed to be the most adventurous race due to their short lives. If Steerpike didn't post that, then I read it in that C&C PDF that I linked earlier.

As for your 2000 year old knight who's still level 1... well, he's never been outside of his homeland before. Maybe the Queen sent him on that ship to gain experience. She meant world experience, but that's what it takes for an elf to gain XP.



*According to spellcheck, "swording" is actually a word. I learned something new. Level Up! Oh, but "pukishly" isn't a word. Level Down.

Regarding the magic: I like the idea of Mana points, and the idea that spells can backfire. It makes casting a spell more exciting when you know it can fail. Not quite as exciting as a critical hit, but exciting nonetheless.

This [new information about magic] is making me reconsider Cadell's class a bit... I might make him an illusionist instead of a knight. I'll think on it some more, and see what happens when there's more info available. ^^

Funny. The new info on gods is making me consider a female barb, just so I can pick Brunhilde as my deity. (Though it's tempting to worship Ullr solely because of the skiing!)

I also got a Christmas surprise from a girl I used to play Monster Hunter with: fan art (below) for a little project I was working on called Barbarian Schoolgirls. Seeing that made me think that the most muscular of the girls would make a nice avatar. (If I use her, she'll wear more than a bikini.)

Also, everyone please provide an avatar that you wish to use for your character when we're using maps. It should be something that can be made rather small, so it is still recognizable on a larger map. For characters without an avatar, I'll simply use a letter on the map to indicate position.

Yes, but you only get the bonuses associated if you are Devout.

Size of the forum avatars should work. I'll have to make them varying sizes to put on the maps - hopefully not less than half the size of what we see in the forums, but for a very large map it may be less.

I'm happy with the PhotoShop filter, which added that thick outline around the body paint after I shrunk the image.

80x80 is the perfect size for the head (at the original image size), but I wanted to keep her ridiculously huge bicep in the pic.


As for everyone else, are you interested in me drawing the entire party (of 5, so far)? It would be the same style, but no undies base. Everyone will be wearing something that represents the class, and I might draw your weapon of choice if I know what it is. I won't promise to be ambitious or get the drawing exactly as you want the character to look, but I've got hair/eye color from most of you, race/class of course, and hinted personality traits based on the back stories.

If you're interested, I'll make a party image, and the heads can be used as avatars. If you want to tell me your character's favorite weapon, favorite color, etc., that may help.

Rydh's a Cleric of Betula, the Elven divine master of combat. As such, his favored weapon is (if Steerpike allows it) the longsword. Rydh's favorite colors are silver, white and black.

I'll get the first post up tonight. Everyone can settle on their avatars and make their initial post in the next couple of days. I know people may be traveling for New Years, so our official start date is still going to be on the 1st, but I'll post tonight on the chance that people will be around and want to start early.

I'm just using my Forum Avatar. And if Legendary is doing the party drawing I'd like a longsword in one hand, spear in the other.

I haven't been able to find an elf pic I like yet, so for now I'll just use my forum avatar.

LS, for the party picture (awesome idea, btw!), Cadell typically wears dark colors. His knightly livery is black, with an emblem of silver holly on his tunic. He's a left-handed archer, and his bow is also black with silver accents.

Go ahead and make your die rolls in the thread if you make an attack. d20 + base to hit bonus + STR or DEX mod (depending on whether a melee or ranged attack), and other bonuses if you have any.
