Should I assume that only weapons that could really be wood are allowed? So club, staff, boomerang, then you said spear? Kell's still sort of figuring out who she wants to be, so she might start with a staff, try that out, and later get a spear. Would that be allowed?

Yes. You'll get new stuff during your adventure. You may have to ditch old things though.

For magic, is there any need for a magical focus? Or spell components?

Updated nymph to include stone weapons, since spears are wood and stone. They can also use a stone knife, as used by Ama Pearl Divers.

I'm grilling steaks now, so I can only post in short controlled bursts.

Magic: you only need an item to cast something other than charm animals... and you will have that! (Later, via PM.) You'll get the magic staff, and later in game the spear I had in mind will become available.

Magic weapons are class-specific, so there's no mystery about who gets what (as long as no two players are the same class).

Baldhart

Before I put the new post up, I want to share something that another GM has his players do. He has players begin every in-game post with their character name.

He didn't ask players to color-code their names, but that ended up happening, which was also cool. I'm the red player, tbgg's the blue player and so on. Mythic Scribes has quite a few readable colors to choose from, so when you post, please begin the post with your character name in bold and color the name.

(I'm not really Baldhart, so dark red has not been claimed.)

I wanted to say this before the first post goes up, which I'm working on now.

Okay, show-off, rolling a double-six first roll of the game!

I'll wait for the others to post, but… yeah, success, obviously.

Standard = #2d6

But you waited a turn, you're in stealth mode (you didn't roll stealth, but they don't see you, so stealth for free!), therefore…

Roll #2d6+2 (your sniper shot)

Some tips about combat rolls…

There are three elements that matter:

1. Target: Usually, you need to roll somewhere from 5-10 to hit.
2. Natural Sixes: if you roll a 6, your attack is strong. If you roll a double-six, that's max damage.
3. 12+ = Combo! If you roll a 12, you attack twice. Roll 13, attack three times. Roll 14, attack four times.

Oh... I goofed when setting the scene. Ireth is directly behind Akantha, so Akantha and the men can't see her arrows. Akantha can certainly hear the arrow hit. There was a tremor in the stake, but no narrow miss.

My bad. Ireth knew Leto's position via PM.

EDIT - If Ireth rolls <5, she misses the rope. In that case, there's a chance she won't hit the stake either. The good news is that it's a thick stake, so a miss might hit somebody, but he won't be an amazon.

In this case, I'll roll a d12 for the miss—9 O'clock and 3 O'clock have a chance of hitting an executioner or crossbowman behind him (oil/sake guy is currently in front of Akantha, safe from Leto's 3 O'clock miss). 10 O'clock and 2 O'clock can also hit a crossbowman. There's a ~0.9% chance of this happening while Leto is taking aim. 1/36 chance of a miss, 1/3 that she'll hit a person if she misses, so 1/108 is the odds of an accidental shooting.

Everyone would see the arrow if Leto misses… unless the d12 is 6 or 12, in which case she hits the stake high or low. Whether people react (appropriately) to the twang this time remains to be seen…

This confrontation is meant to be a tutorial (as well as a means for your characters banding together), so I'll just tell you. You hit one rope, not two.

Natural sixes add damage. So your 11 was a natural 6 & 3, and that's why you hit two ropes. If you roll a double-six, each arrow will hit one rope dead center and penetrate so deep into the stake that the two adjacent ropes are cut... and you get the combo for rolling 12+, so it's three ropes per arrow.

Akantha might break some of the remaining ropes, or all if Reaver can borrow tbgg's luck.

Assuming she breaks some but not all of the rope, Leto can choose to fire without taking time to aim (rolling #2d6) if she feels the need to speed up her rescue attempt.

PC's Stuff

I made a thread today inviting you guys to have a place to keep track of your stuff, but a though occurred to me… you won't be able to update and tbgg already has her money and weapon in her character profile.

So how about instead, I just edit in your belongings to the same post as your character bios in the "The Players!" thread?

Thoughts?

(Basically, I just want a place for everyone to keep track of stuff you get, so when you've accumulated lots of things, you don't need to remember or dig up an old PM. Whether I create a new thread or use an existing one doesn't matter to me.)
