Huh, I didnt know that kind of dress had a name. Everyone I know always calls it a "china dress". Even in Japanese, the word for it is "china dress".

I like pixel art because it is very mathematical. I count out every pixel and place it exactly where I want it to be (the lack of detail also hides a lot of my lack of skill). My hands tend to shake when drawing by hand so I can never make smooth lines. Using a keyboard, I always know where everything is going to end up. It fits my personality better.

I tried pixel art at one point, and I found it difficult because I was trying to get detail in there! And every single dot of color is carrying a lot of weight. There's a subtle, slightly magical gap between what pixels you put down and the overall effect when zoomed out.

Chris has made her appearance, I see! Well, that's one way to get everyone out of the bar and into the festival :p

It helps when you use a program designed for it. I use Graphics Gale which has 3 different views that you can see at all times. One super zoom, one 100% view and then a work area where you can zoom in or out as much as you like. Being able to see those views at a glance makes all the difference in the world.

Hope my post is okay. This is a first for me (rping on a forum with no set rulebook) so I dont know if I am giving too much or what not. All the same, I look forward to Chris getting us all into and out of trouble in many awful and wonderful ways :)

No, that's great! Hey, I've posted entire scenes in a post in narrative rps before. The basic rule is that you can keep going until you need another character's reaction, or until you start leaving people behind, heh. Or your posts can be short, just a dialogue reply, etc. If you haven't already read it, the guidelines I posted in the rules thread might be helpful? Or obviously I can answer any questions you got.

One thing though--I didn't notice this with your first post, so that's on me, but I think it is mentioned in the rules somewhere that posts should be written in past tense, not present. I know other rps on here run in present tense and that's probably confusing... No editing needed, just something to keep in mind for future posts.

Also, this might just be something I'm more picky about, but would you mind toning down Chris's accent a bit? You're probably having a lot of fun with it, sorry, I'm just...having a bit of difficulty reading what she's saying. It'd be good to avoid misinterpretation of dialogue and weird replies happening, especially when people are reading and posting quickly. Maybe taking out the "z"s and "ee" vowel lengthening would do it. Something around the level of Addison's accent would be ideal--I believe I made the same request of LS when he first started playing Addy, because he'd put a much heavier brogue in the short story he'd written with her.

Actually, I had already toned down Addy's brogue in her second story (which you didn't see) so I had already planned on a toned down brogue, and in fact, it's thicker in this RPG. The only difference is that, in her second short, I use "you" instead of "ye."

It definitely takes getting used to, but I found after writing a character with an accent that there are certain words that are used so often that those words alone convey the accent. In Addy's case, "me" instead of "my" and "o' " when "of" comes before a consonant are enough. I go a little beyond that in this RPG since the narrator has no accent (while, in her shorts, Addy narrates in first person).

Okie doke. Noted. Will tone down the accent and stick to past tense.

I read the rules, but it was a month or so ago so I kinda forgot some of them. Will try and keep them in mind.

Heh, I don't expect anybody to remember all the rules, that's sort of what I'm here for--well, when I remember them too.

You're welcome to play around with Chris's accent, as I'm sure you've been doing, and just find something that works for you and is fairly readable. Your word choice and usage alone is doing a good job of evoking her speech pattern, and you might be surprised by how far that gets you, with some consonant shifts thrown in.

I'm no stranger to completely and bafflingly misinterpreting rp posts, so I like to keep the potential for that under control when I can ^^;;

Hi! Sorry I haven't been posting. Yesterday (when everyone resumed) was really busy. I think I need a recap: What is happening right now? And what do you want Einan and Troia to be doing?

Hey Tom! Well, Bendalitz is getting his drink on at the inn, Farrun and Loke are out in the street having Serious Conversation before the booze starts to soaks in, and Addy, Rikhard, and Chrisania the Newbie are out in the fair watching some performing animals.

Einan and Troia are welcome wherever, although Addy, Rik, and Chris are being most eventful at the moment, and they'd be able to meet Chris. Up to you! I'm thinking that some dancing will start up in the town square soon, for anybody who wants to make a fool of themselves, heheh

Just a side note. I saw a singing parrot at Disney Animal Kingdom last month. Any song from a parrot's beak is both funny and awesome. The parrot knew seven songs, and the one he performed was pretty long.

She's right, Akamaru—righter than she thought. I think your word choice alone is carrying that accent. I still hear it, and I don't think you're shifting any consonants.

I think Addison's lessons with Farrun taught her this: if she's going to play with her powers, just do it in ways you don't get caught. Like borrowing a dog's nose for a second to find out where the food is. That's way more subtle than getting flies to circle your finger, plus, it's not gross.

Chrisania is just a little paranoid about using magic around townspeople as she never knows how welcoming they will be to strangers and would rather not give them an extra reason to be suspicious. When she does, she tends to mask it with things that can be explained by mundane means (her potions for example) or sticks to effects that would not necessarily be noticed.

He stepped back as a clearly drunken boy ran passed, his hand locked to that of a young girl. Off to darkness they ran to paw clumsily at one another.
As soon as I read that, I thought of how Addison's reaction to impending drunken teen sex would differ from Loke's.

Loke's right about Addy being a "free spirit," hence her reckless use of magic that she thinks is subtle enough to keep her out of trouble. She also has a sense of justice that is flawed but well-intentioned, hence her reaction to impending drunken teen sex.

Whoo, finally managed to post something. Sorry about dropping out for a while. This week was insanely busy, what with settling into my school year schedule and everything.

Anyway, I'm thinking Einan and Troia could bump into Addison and Chrisania at the pastries place, and then just see what happens from there.
