You need to try to cast a very high level one, fail it, and then fail to contain the runaway magic. I haven't even had a chance to use the most gruesome parts of my runaway magic table yet!!

Valar Lord
Or not, at least not while she didn't find where to throw it. … She needs to aim somewhere closer enough to do the damage and far enough to not injure the group.
Valar LordFixed^....Correct (including the part about wanting to deafen the party). And in case the rope trick seems to "easily" shut up the singing harpy, no this was not easy at all! Here are ALL the things that had to actually go right in order for Mauve to do that rope trick:
- Fail a STR check to overpower Baldhart
- Successfully cast Sonic Boom as shown in Nihal's diagram
- Succeed at a DEX check to avoid full damage – 6 damage from her attack, Mauve has 5 HP, she still took half damage, BUT note that she had to…
- …be close enough to her own attack to become partially deaf
- Successfully cast Magic Hands
- The GM makes a generous interpretation of a successful STR check
Dark LordAnd speaking of STR, we have an unarmed barbarian also capable of rolling up to a 28, and he can reach either harpy. Looking forward to Algy's next move!
