The prime doesn't add a +1. It means your DEX checks have a 30% better chance of succeeding than if the skill was secondary. (Base 12 for successful checks instead of base 18, which is why Baldhart does NOT expect to resist a spell with a WIS check. She'd have to roll a 20 to beat 18!)

But, yes, your +1 bonus means you'll have a -1 penalty total because it's added to the -2 situational modifier. A small price if you're giving the party coverage and getting +2 AC when firing the bow as part of the shield wall—or +4 AC when you're not attacking.

Oooooh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. ^^

Poor Rydh. And the sad part is that the STR check worked.

If Ankari is aiming at the enemy I knocked the other into, he might be stunned. (The fire demon was stunned by a flying body last time I did this attack.) So yeah, the damage roll was worth it since a 9 might hit in this case.

OK, guys - gotta run a few errands and things this morning, but posting with a map when I return, so hopefully everyone has acted by then.

One question: who has the torch?

Nihal

Valar Lord
If no one else wants to take the torch Mauve has it. It's not like she's in a hurry to jump in a fight...

Maybe it's for the better; if I am left out of the fight, I have no chance of being maimed again, or of demonstrating my considerable lack of skill.

If that helps he has only one hand left to be maimed, then he won't need to worry about his hands anymore. :3

Well yes, but that would make him *really* ineffectual until such time as they reach the Drimmen-delve and he gets his hand(s) replaced properly. Not too good for the guy's self-esteem. ^^;

Then he would be able to slap his enemies with his new prostheses. ^^

Oh, yeah, and I'm so happy that people are getting bad rolls like me. I think that makes me evil.

Pfff. Cadell's rolls have been getting worse and worse throughout the game, with a few exceptions. XD

And mine are getting better.

After I charged in to the lizard trio, I was thinking, the net might be used against us, or we could have used it on them.
Too late.
(The thing that caught my eye to late, the lizard tucked the rope to keep it from falling, knock it loose and it might have caught the lizards.)
But now I should have the makings of a trap, if nothing else I can set up a noise trap to alert us to someone coming. (equivalent to tin cans and a string)

I got a PM from Phil saying he's busy, but Nod's too fun a character to get rid of, so I agreed to roll piggyback damage on his behalf for the time being. Phil, if you can post, feel free to have Nod comment if I already rolled. I'll just post his combat actions and things Baldy says to him, but I won't put words in Nod's mouth. Won't be the same if I do it!

PM me if you want me to stop rolling for him.

Though I responded in short form on the action thread.…

((OOC: Algernon? Seriously? Shall I bring him flowers?))

Actually, Algernon is a reworking of a character I created in another game years ago. Basically the same, allowing for differences in the game system: he was a friendly, outgoing, somewhat goofy barbarian. He's not as dim as he first seems… in part because he knows he isn't clever, so instead he tries to take advantage of people underestimating him. He also developed a great track record of defusing potentially hostile situations by being so unexpectedly friendly that potential foes would hesitate and engage in conversation first; after a few conversational exchanges had passed, it generally seemed inappropriate to start a fight at that point. ;)

The name was simply one I hit upon as seeming singularly inappropriate for a barbarian—which was my goal at the time. What brought the particular name in mind was a different literary character: Algernon Moncrieff, from The Importance of Being Earnest—who is about as far from a barbarian as you can get, making the inappropriateness all the greater. Though, as I said, there may have been some unconscious back-brain at work there as well.

When I was 23, and playing a LARP, I did jump into water with thick leather armor on, but I wasn't sure if Baldhart would sink with scale mail. Seeing how she has to bring the boat back, I figure her attack and defense won't be down for toolong.

Oh… and I do realize that by posting this, I deny myself an opportunity to become a Thousandth-Poster. But I'm already A Guy Who Played Two Near-Naked Women In One Day. This title I share with no one!
