True! I forgot the level, this one was lvl 1. Yep, failed.

But, anyway... I still have this doubt about the DC. It's "exactly and up" or "only above"?

The target number is what you need to roll for a success. So if it's 12, anything 12 or better works.

Thanks, Ravana! xD

I think I just ninja'd Steerpike and got Mauve running straight into danger wearing only a tunic and a cloak. Sounds like fun!

You can stop Mauve before she enters the darkness if you like. She would have seen it forming as she left.

It's coming from the passage the lizards were in, but it moved up to where it is also covering the side passage. So you'd have to go through it to get into the side passage.

Nihal, I've run this magic system quite a few times and seen some bad things happen to characters as a result, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone fail to get a spell off as consistently as Mauve! :D

Cadell and Rydh are with Burnbright, talking to her while keeping an eye on the hallway, helping the girl keep her nervousness in check and ensuring that she has protectors on hand.

Just to clarify, is this actually supposed to be Cadell and Rydh. Or is it Matthew and Rydh.

I guess I should note that I did make a spell check for the reptile caster on my phone app. It was a quick way to do it, since I'm at work and trying to get stuff done, but I suppose I should mention it here. I'll make those kinds of rolls on Rolz or Unseen Servant, as a rule, so you guys can see them. But the reptile did get the spell off - she's subject to the same restrictions and potential runaway magic as anyone else.

((Ravana: Lizard's blood.

Seeing it or not your pet might smell it.))

Might work. Couple problems I could foresee:

(1) They aren't pets. Important mostly because of (2).
(2) She doesn't have a leash for Täplä, so he can't guide her all that well unless she can see him. In which case, she'd be able to follow the blood anyway.

Still, it's certainly possible he might notice it from her shoulder and bring it to her attention. Might depend on just how badly the trog was leaking, and how much it smells. (For that matter, so might the raven… though I also anticipate some delay when they reach the charnel* pit, which comes first.) In which case, whenever she came to an intersection, she could let him down, he could figure out which route to follow, and tug her in the correct direction.

My guess is it'll probably be rhetorical. There isn't much making noise down here apart from your group and its playmates. By the time she hits the trail of blood, it shouldn't be too hard to determine which direction the sounds are coming from whenever she has to make a choice.

For what it's worth, I make it about twenty minutes' walk from the temple to where everyone else is right now, based on a review of previous posts. Give or take a minute or two.

* Okay, why doesn't the spellchecker recognize "charnel"?

How about having Nihal roll enemy spells?

Nah… that would be the one time she rolls a 20.

EDIT - And speaking of rotten luck with rolls, why does my turn get 3 awesome rolls, and everyone trying to save my butt is rolling single digits?

@Ravana
I was joking about the "pet". Yeah, if I remember well there is no intersection until the blood and those animals should have some senses better than humans' - and elves', probably. I don't think it would be too hard for them to follow the trail.
I'm more worried about the trap. ;x

Err, anyway, welcome to the "I don't have a torch in my backpack!" club.

@LS
I'm sure I would roll a 20.
Well, maybe Mauve has a hidden talent for melee? Sooner or later I'll have to try it.
