Also, Steerpike, good call on the 1d4 weapons. We definitely need enemies that low constitution characters can fight. (That said, I hope there is more than just Rydh, Mauve and Nod--and I hope Nod getting hit makes him hit back!)

I agree. She also left the javelin there, what in theory would keep the wound better sealed. Yet she failed to consider the possible outcome of falling unconscious. (WIS surely isn't her prime, heh)

Great, it seeems everyone had forgotten about Burnbright and now we are ambushed from that side. I run past Mauve and Nod and throw a Javelin at one of the lizards.

And see it fall harmlessly to the ground. Great.

Everyone who runs past Mauve and get injured by her spell - or just look at her, it must be contagious! - is allowed to blame her for their bad rolls. xD

I see a lot of arguing about magic and people pissed at her in the future. *sigh*

Maybe the spell fail doesn't hurt other players. It hurts their rolls. Cadell and I rolled just fine.

I hope you zapped the lizards, or at least their dice. I guess we'll see.

@Phil, I thought you had a dex bonus. Seeing a 1 is funnier than seeing a 3, though.

Also, @Steerpike, Baldhart's impaling from behind, so hopefully the lizard won't "hug" her like the dead fish demon did.

Even with a bonus, a natural 1 will always miss. A natural 20 will always hit, assuming you are capable of damaging the target. There is something humorous about seeing the 1 on the screen, however.

Good to know. Wasn't sure if you were using that one or not. There should always be a chance of failure, no matter how good the modifiers are… whether or not there should always be a chance of success. (Some things are impossible—at least under most circumstances.) For combat, yeah, there should always be a chance of hitting.

Sorry, I just read these posts. Yeah, Sidekick, maybe I should have some psionic powers or something? Because I'm psychic! I just fired down an empty hallway and lizards showed up. Maybe that's my power. I summon lizards by critically missing the crap out of everything I shoot at.

Worded well, because you might hit, but it might not actually do damage.

I think that Nod shot better when he shot at nothing, then he did when he shot at a target.
At least when you shot at nothing, you are guaranteed to hit something, but if you shoot at something you might not hit.
maybe we should just call that a warning shot. yea, thats the ticket. Scared them away, didn't it?

Just to clarify:

To Intimidate the lizard in some way, Baldhart is likely going to have to remain in view of her. That means the shield wall is behind Baldhart unless Darin and Cadell come around the corner and get in front of Baldhart. The lizards have their actions readied, so if Cadell and Darin come around in front of Baldhart, the lizards will be able to act immediately, whatever they are going to do.

Personally, I envision the shield wall as being behind Baldhart (if my thoughts count for anything, since my guy is half of the wall).

Hey! I just realized that if I failed* the last spellcasting roll now Mauve's practical magical accuracy is less than half of the half it should be (50% is her official MA). Mauve is destined to become a kamikaze! Sounds awesome, uh?

*Not sure if I must cast above 12 or at least 12, I think it's the first one.
