Oh… I figured he must know the way, so he's there. You're free to play the other character as well. If Reaver eats or drinks, just roll. A 1 always does nothing, or causes drunkenness if applicable. Reaver can hold his liquor, so unless he's on a binge, it takes a really low roll to get him drunk.

March! To Battle! (the month of March, not like marching in a parade)

Artwork in progress...

One of my monsters to the west was alerted to by the rumbling of the giant fairy. In other words, a battle is coming. I may need to refrain from posting until I have artwork up. If you need me to respond, feel free to PM me. If you want to spend $, here's what you can get:

Some of the skills/items require RP'ing so you know what you're going to get, but here is info you would find on a price tag or sign:

Tailor Shop
Fenella:
$699 - a custom gown
$2777 - an expensive gown

Dojo
Reaver and Shan Mai: $200-$900 setiei skills
Vincent: Emma Bison's personal training $666 (need to talk to her to find out what she can teach)

Mariya and Riff: Pidge's pixie mushroom magic $256-$555
(Diana and Fenella will meet amazons and shield maidens later, Jei may be able to learn from Addison later)

Weapon Shop

Jei:
Robin Feather arrows $10 a dozen
Other arrows like the ones you start with $10 a half-dozen
Pigeon Feathered arrow $10 for a half-dozen

Just curious, what happens if not everybody has posted to ascertain where they are by the time the battle starts? Or are you going to wait until everyone posts before starting it?

@Ireth, I think I'll need the weekend to ready the map. Let's agree that March 3rd will start battle. I'll give you some more GM posts to set it up once art is ready.

Also, I'm making the map bigger so it will be (a little) less crowded. 699 pixels (the price of a custom dress - coincidence!) seems to be the widest un-shrunken map on my screen. You have 100 squares on the ground instead of 64. Hopefully, this accommodates a larger party and also makes ranged combat useful.

Had an interesting thought just now. I think it might be neat if, in addition to the holiday bonuses, characters could also get individual, personalized bonuses if GM posts fall on or around their birthdays (assuming all the characters have assigned birthdays, that is.) What says the party -- and most importantly, the GM?

Just to be clear, I'm NOT asking this solely because Diana's birthday is coming up soon (March 7). It was just thinking of the date that sparked the idea, which could be neat for everyone. Some characters could take a while to get personalized bonuses though. Vincent's birthday isn't until November 5.

...holy crap, that fits so incredibly well with his firework skill. Coincidence!

EDIT: if not all characters have pre-assigned birthdays, perhaps bonuses could be given out on the player's birthday instead. Everyone's got one of those!

Here's Jei, though not yet in costume.

Cleaning the image takes a bit of work, so I'll need to find a faster way to draw on-screen. What I like is that Jeisera can change outfits. I'll try to limit stances to armed, unarmed, and maybe a fun peacetime position like PJ's "lean."

Would I be allowed to roll a d2 to simulate a coin toss for Vincent to choose between the two techniques he likes most? XD Just thought I'd ask before plowing ahead.

Yeah, if it's like that where you don't need a die roll, you can do whatever you want to decide, including rolling a nonstandard die. The d20 is the only die for required rolls.

Hokay. ^^

Hm... Fenella hasn't responded to Vincent's request for learning Battle Song yet. Hopefully he can learn that before the next fight!

Does Riff's leaves change when she shrinks, or because of what's coming? Like Bilbo's Sting when orcs come around?

Haha, idk @.@

LS, am I going to need to roll for this empowering effect?

Hi Ireth,
How do you want Fenella to respond? I think she would be happy to help Vincent learn a Battle Song but how does she teach him?
Also, I noticed yesterday that Vincent talks but Diana writes notes. Can you explain why that is? I'm feeling a bit  with all these new developments to the plot and new characters. Would appreciate some help from you seasoned role play gamers. Thanks!

Also, what are the dice you refer to? Are they the same dice we use in the dice room?

Just have her say she'd be happy to teach him, then. As for the lesson itself, we can discuss that with LS after Vincent is done with Emma's lesson. Fenella can tag along with them to watch if she wants, or join Diana and Beatrice at the dress shop.

Also, I noticed yesterday that Vincent talks but Diana writes notes. Can you explain why that is?

Simple answer. Diana writes because she's deaf and not everyone knows sign language, and although she has taken speech lessons, she's not too comfortable with speaking. You'll notice that in my posts I refer to her reading lips rather than listening to what people say, and there have been plenty of other nods to the fact that she can't hear.

Also, what are the dice you refer to? Are they the same dice we use in the dice room?

Yes.

Hi Ireth, thanks for posting that. You know, I never noticed that about Diana, but then Fenella only joined the game recently. I feel like I'm playing "catch up". I think it's cool that Diana and Fenella both have swords! I'll go tell Vincent the good news now...
