All those combo rolls paid off. You had 6 rounds to freeze 400 spiders, and you froze 406! A close call, and odds were against you (hence your chance to escape after taking out one side). The combo rolls helped. Ivy rolled a 13 (39 arrows), and there were 5 rolls of 12 (24 arrows). With 110 remaining, you just needed average rolls. Nymphs were just below average, scoring 94 hits of the 110 needed. But Ireth was above average.
Even if you had a dozen spiders webbing the nymphs, the warning shot would have been the way to take them out.
