Not sure if I need a roll or not to get Sigrlinn into the shack. Unless she needs an action like lockpicking or another Stealth roll, maybe?

I'll give Kell time to respond, but I had to reply to Sigrlinn's gamble, which paid off.

Oh... I did forget to explain why Candy can understand Beach. There's a reason, but you'll find out later.

Can Sigrlinn hear Kell from inside the shack? If so, she's going to go forward with her plan to spare the bear-asses as long as they comply and get out of Sardis for good.

You may not get to talk all of the bear-asses out of a fight, but you both get treasure for preventing a fight at the shack. Had you fought, there was a very good chance of Sapphire's Flameblade lighting up the shack. It wouldn't have made the fight less survivable, but the nymphs' stuff would have been a lot less obtainable.

In real life, lightning once hit the neighbor's back yard. Blinding light, oddly with a hint of pink, and light and sound both came at once. My friend and I both misjudged the distance thinking it hit 100 ft. from our respective vantage points. Since the lighting hit north of me, east of him, we figured out the spot, which was 50 ft away from each of us!

Another time, I was driving home from my father's shop, checking on a machine at 3 a.m. Heat lightning was lighting up my foggy surroundings, flickering multiple times per second for the entire 4 minute drive. I had only seen heat lightning that one time, which I described to a coworker as "as if God was playing with the lights." He patronized me: "Yes, John. God was playing with the lights."

Anyway, that's what inspired Zeus' intervention. I think by now it's apparent he struck the bear-asses. So they're the threat. No worries about an unreachable god. Only Apollo's that big a dick. Artemis joined him in that abuse of power, so HAM2D6 is admittedly biased by conveniently not making Artemis' abuses canon.

If you don't know, Apollo killed seven sons of a woman who insulted Leto for only bearing two children. The mortal had 14, her daughters being Artemis' targets. Artemis is the protector of young girls, so she stays semi-true to that by killing them painlessly (implying Apollo made the sons suffer?). I mean, c'mon... gods getting riled up over "your mother!"?

I was on vacation in the Canadian Rockies once (either Jasper or Banff, I don't recall), and lightning struck the asphalt maybe 15-20 feet from where I was walking (and like 5 feet from my little sister). There was a huge flash and a BOOM, and you could smell the burning asphalt. Pretty impressive scorch mark, too.

Holy shit!

Yeah... I was in the house and my friend was at his house when we were not nearly as close to lightning. I've only met one person who was closer to lightning than your sister. A former student of mine was struck (or so I heard from multiple sources).

If the bear-asses have been 'lightningized' by Zeus, then Kell's water wave seems like the most potent weapon. But it seems like it might be better for everyone involved if Sigrlinn, Kell and the nymphs could get above the wave somehow when it strikes the bear-asses. Any ideas on how that might be accomplished? I'm wondering about Sigrlinn's Ride of the Valkyrie spell, except I can't remember if she actually has that one yet.

You could try combining magic. All nymphs and fairies know magic, and I believe I only have four nymphs readying attacks. Sigrlinn rolled her attack, but if Kell starts casting a water spell of her choice and tells Amber what she's up to, a nymph can try combining a spell with Kell.

I honestly didn't anticipate that! Just make it clear to the nymph what you expect the water to do. No need to explain your spell, simply the effect you're going for. If Amber (or whoever's not aiming her bow) happens to have a spell that can help, she'll combine magic with Kell. Amber will give orders to see the spell is not interrupted.

Artemis should have that title.

I played up the idea of her virginity being questioned, but I found out last week there's an actual myth where that happens. A goddess named Aura tells Artemis she's a maiden in name only (while groping her breasts in the bath), and she tells her to leave Athena.

Basically, Artemis is skinny dipping or shooting people.

I wasn't sure if there was an interest to go on, and I hadn't been on MS for quite some time. But between SP coming back and tbgg posting in-game, I suppose I should tell you what I was thinking this afternoon (not knowing tbgg would post today).

So, offline, I've been making art and mechanics for a "Huntress Attack Monster" game I'll either sell or… not, but at least I'll have a cool portfolio if it isn't a thing I can sell. So there's that.

The other thing was my original plan: to make this game play more like the Endless Hunt (which is what Ch.4 is called), as opposed to having on ongoing plot. So I was thinking it might be a good idea to kind of reset the game (though not in a way that totally ignores plot things that happened), and possibly attempt to see if we can get a third or fourth player in.

Without going into detail, I wouldn't run this game with all of the artwork. It'll take me all year to finish art for everything. But for the "Huntress" deck, I've finished 9 of 18 cards.
* The heroines (4/4 done)
* Huntress abilities, Lv.2-4 (0/3 done)
* Amazon abilities, Lv.2-4 (1/3 done)
* Nymph abilities, Lv.1-4 (0/4 done)
* Fairy abilities, Lv.1-4 (4/4 done)

There are also "Attack" cards (spells, weapons and arrows) and "Monster" cards (~50 encounters). I'll need some of that art to test the game offline, but online it might not matter as much since I'd just run the game.

Thoughts?

(And now that I'm looking at where we left off, I definitely need Bear-Asses to be in the card game. I like them better than Ass-Hats.)

I'm not familiar with Endless Hunt, so that reference is sort of lost on me. (Sorry!). Though of course, the words 'Endless Hunt' do rather suggest a series of encounters with monsters that can go on ad infinitum.

I have no problem with trying to bring in a few new players, but I am curious what would be lost for our current game. Do Helix and Vin and the final encounter with Zeus and the gods who sided with him have to go bye-bye?

I don't think it's necessary to get rid of plot or characters. The card game would set a limit to what you can have on you (which I sort of did in this game), so I'd just want that element of gameplay.

I'll give you some details later.

Funny thing-- just bringing up the card game here helped me to focus on some of the long term stuff.
I came up with a nice addition to the attack deck.

Before I get into what I added, I should mention that the game has three decks:
"Huntress" - characters and abilities
"Attack" - weapons and magic
"Monsters" - creatures!

So for the ATTACK deck, I have arrows like in Flat Earth, where the type of bird feather hints at the arrows behavior. Example: arrows with woodpecker feathers penetrate wood walls and shoot through a forest as if it's a clearing.

There are also weapons which come in human and fairy sizes, and of course there is magic. I ended up giving the huntress traps and the Amazon has martial arts moves. And there are some ATTACK cards that more than one character can use. Like the Uvula Punch, which is a move you use if you end up in a monster's mouth. The Amazon can learn this, but so can the Fairy.

Anyway, I realized that with sea monsters in game, there should be weapons for your ship. So I came up with four cards dedicated to that.

Because I'm drawing art for every weapon/spell, I'm pretty much committed to this direction.

For monsters, I was mostly focused on colossal beasts, but I have some runts too. Not as small as the fairy, but I'm pretty proud of one I came up with yesterday: Man-Bunnies. They're a small army of samurai rabbits with man-buns. I guess that'll be a cotton tail like tuft of fur on the top of the head. If I like the drawing, it's a keeper. I won't commit to any creature unless I like the art. But liking the name helps.

Some monsters are already in heroine cards: Octulus, an eight-eyed octopus; Shadork, short for shadow-orc; Snowball From Hell, a snowman with carrots for teeth and burning coal for eyes; Breel, shown on the backs of the cards.

You'll see when I post the heroine cards.

What happens if the Nymph player (or the Huntress or Iron Maiden for that matter) draws a card like Uvula Punch that isn't meant for that Heroine?

I appreciate the question.

It's not a random draw. Attack cards would either be dealt by the GM or picked by the player. There are 36 ATTACK cards; each heroine can use 18 of them. (Some can be used by more than one character.)

The nymph can hold the most cards, which is 4 at Lv.1 and 8 by Lv.20. Your Attack hand represents the weapons/arrows you carry and the spells you prepared. If you're on a ship, you can use a ship's weapon even if you have a full hand.

Here's artwork for the backs of the three decks. As you can see, the cards can be placed against each other to form a single image. (I plan to do the same for the four ship's-weapons cards.)

I plan to have a to-be-continued moment soon. Apologies for the flaky rules-changing. As I said earlier, by drawing all of the abilities and attacks, I'm far more likely to stop changing my mind.

And playing HAM2D here on MS helped me with A LOT of the decisions. So thank you both for that!
