I just got a PM from Reaver saying he'll be offline for a while. I know the reason (irl), but it's not my story to tell. He's welcome back in-game whenever he's able to post regularly.

I do want to give credit where it's due. He happened to return to this site just as I was putting the finishing touches on the Olympian theme. After chatting, I was pretty happy with the direction, and Reaver's enthusiasm, which continued throughout the game's opening week, helped make this happen sooner rather than later.

Good luck, Reaver! Hope all goes well!

@Ireth, tbgg, as long as a two-player game works for you, I'm just gonna keep this going.

As long as we can kill stuff with just the two of us, it works for me.

And yeah, good luck with whatever it is, Reaver! We'll miss Akantha's brawn!

Well, the fights will be impossible without her so you'll likely die…

Nah. I'm kidding.

I had two groups of NPCs I was planning to bring in. Since I just got rid of the guys that were supposed to help you with the breel hunt, I'll have to bring in the other group.

Breel hunt's still on. Also, some mods (including Reaver) can see deleted posts in this forum. I'm going to make a new post in the Thread of Holding then delete it, and Akantha's info will be stored there.

Just a note, LS: The Aqua Scrunchy doesn't appear under Kell's belongings, nor has the 22 silver been taken from her funds yet.

I think it's all set now. Post #2 has Kell's extra outfits. Technically, she's wearing aqua, but I assume she'll change if you fight the breel next.

So I think I'm not understanding the intent of the 'live callers' bit. Are we supposed to ask the Monster Hunters questions, or request to be able to see someone else?

You can ask the oracle (Bob Oracle) some questions about what's going on in the image, which is more or less a live news feed. Yeah… I was thinking I should leave an ((OoC note)). Well, now you know. Ask Bob, who speaks through Hess. Akantha and the others can't hear you.

Is there going to be any sort of issue with Kell's plant armor messing with the function of her Chiton of Enlightenment? As in, she shouldn't wear the armor if she wants her chiton to be at full zapping power?

No. The spell simply makes your AC increase by 1.

Note that +1 is significant with 2d6. Enemies that have a 58% chance of hitting you will have a 42% chance after you cast the armor spell.

Kell is armored for the next 9 hours. You'll find the breel faster than that (thanks to Leto). You can RP anywhere you want from the temple to the Tigerwood.

Wu Chen can swing on trees, and will if I'm not around to post while you move about. Her gaudy outfit is loud with many bold colors. There are bells on it. In her room, the bells will be quiet. When you all move, the nun's "flight" will make a jingling sound.

Once in the Tigerwood, Leto knows her way around and can figure out where the breel encounter took place. She'll know its tracks: paw prints big as a person plus a trail like slug slime in a shallow trench (dug by dragging it's extremely heavy backside).

The breel didn't leave much of a trail (from when it attacked, I mean... of course no trail from flying!), but Leto can figure out that the breel will stick to areas clear of trees. She knows of a clearing nearby and can look for trails there. No need to roll tracking. The tracks are plain to see, but only Leto can tell which track is freshest and which way it's going.

Not sure if I need to roll tracking for determining the breel's direction. I'll let someone else post before I do that, regardless.

No check needed. Since I was able to get in a post, I decided to mess with the geography a bit. I realized there needs to be a reason why you can't just track down Akantha and the others, or why Karl can't lead his team to the breel.

Wu Chen can zip you up past the unclimbable area. From there, you'll find an incline.

If you want to move the game close to the breel's cave, Wu Chen can take you up one at a time as you hang onto her, or she can drink a serving of sake and take you both up at once. (You need to hang on, but we can ignore the need for a STR check and assume you take the time to make sure you have a secure grip. A failed check would just mean falling in the water as Wu Chen zips up without you, then you try again.)

I'll give you a chance to voice a strategy now. The nun's annoying bells will make communication impossible while you're in the immune-to-roar zone. (Oops. Spoiler. Yeah, it'll work, but Wu Chen will be stunned by the roar.)

Once ready, you can move uphill to the scene of the breel fight.

Also, my OoC note on the drunk effect is basically me saying, yeah everyone gets +STR and unarmed combat from Strong Sake, but if you're not an amazon or fighting nun, it's not worth drinking. Amazons and Fighting Nuns start with Unarmed Combat and High Tolerance to Booze, so they don't get drunk unless they keep drinking sake and get a bad #2d6 roll.

(1st strong drink = no roll, 2nd drink = 2 is drunk, 3rd = 3 is drunk…)

I'm wondering how Kell's chiton will work being wet. I believe it does more damage to the attacker than the wearer, but wet, I'd tend to assume the damage is greater to both!

The breel hasn't been alerted yet. You can always take it off, wring it out, lay it on the flat rocky ground to dry (leaving Leto in an awkward position). We can assume Kell keeps her undergarments on, since she's already seen how hard it was for Sapphire.

I did say it's a hot day, dry heat. Chitons unfold into a single layer square (I looked this stuff up when you first mentioned the chiton), so it should take about 10 minutes—like when you leave a towel out by the pool and let it dry in the afternoon sun.

I think Leto jinxed herself with her pre-Stealth dialogue. >_< Way to alert the breel, Miss Stealthy Huntress.

5 is enough that you can have a chance to turn back, possibly without consequence. The bonus allows you to make a mistake and get away with it, so in a sense you really are stealthy—and you got the info you wanted.

With a nun in a jingle-bell suit, there was no chance at all that you'd get to hit a sleeping breel. You're much better off being immune to the roar.

On a somewhat random note, as I've been reading back through the chapter, there seems to be some misconception about Leto's orientation. Just because she's romantically attracted to women does not mean she's sexually attracted to them. I understand some asexuals can and do feel such attraction, but Leto isn't one of them. She's not out and out repulsed by it like some; she's totally neutral. I'm not sure even a nymph would sway Leto that much unless she was consciously trying.

@Ireth: Let me see if I have this straight: Leto craves things like cuddling and affection from women, but not sex? Is that what it means (in this case) to be romantically attracted, but not sexually attracted?

^That's my interpretation, hence the urge to hold the fairy like a doll.

My thought is that the nymph enhances what's already there. Even a straight woman or gay man will have something, though not sexual attraction to the nymph. I didn't think Leto would react as Sapphire did.

Also, I don't want the game to ever get to the point where characters actually make unwanted advances. Kell knows of the danger, and Sapphire had no idea how she would be affected. A less lovesick fairy might have more control.

If the situation ever comes up, roll willpower and interpret success/fail as you see fit. I'm not worried about either of you writing something that crosses a line.
