I think he's got it in him. He's shown something of a stubborn streak, I've noticed. :)

You seem to have noticed better than I have. XD Maybe Rikhard just doesn't realize how stubborn he can be. I think his years of torment have skewed his self-perception a fair bit.

I'm always happy for a brawl although with Farrun and Loke in there, even Addison, most people would back down pretty quickly.

I like the idea of a tavern tussle. It'll be a good opportunity to practice the logistics of it before the inevitable Yvalhyn conflicts later on.

Seeing how she can't use her axe, Addison would gladly let Farrun and Loke get some hits in. That's not to say she won't give brawlers a reason to back down.

I think I'll have Addison keep out of the brawl, if possible, until Loke's had a chance to have a bit of fun.

For the record, I don't think other characters would see Addison's words as outing herself. (Though I'm fine with it if other players think their characters would figure that out.) Still, she knows what she meant. She only said it in hopes that it would somehow stop Einan and Troia from fighting, then immediately regretted her words.

I kept getting interrupted, so I just kept the post short and sweet.

That buys time for Loke to re-enter the building. Can't have Loke miss a tavern brawl. (Would be funny to see him react to the party standing over KO'd bodies, but I imagine Loke being in the brawl will be the more entertaining read.)

@Nimue,

Up to you if the fly landing in the drink becomes the straw that breaks the camel's back. Addison's fly is on course but hasn't gone in the drink yet. I figure if Addison knows a fight's coming, she'd rather provoke it (subtly?) then wonder when it will start—or, of course, prevent it if possible. (The narrative suggests it's not worth an attempt at peacemaking.)

Well, Loke's in position and deprived of his armour and most of his weapons. Looks like the room is just waiting to explode into a brawl.

Every so often, I think of things I've done and ask if my character would have a similar ability (whether exaggerated or realistic).

I've hinted at one such ability for Addison, which is to dull the impact of a hit by dashing in the opposite direction. I can say from experience that this actually works.

Long story short: I was in a martial arts class, I wounded a better fighter's pride, he wanted to hurt me, so when sparring continued I kept dashing back which comically made it look at if I was being thrown back several feet from the kicks I failed to block or dodge. He was by far the better fighter, and even against a less skilled fighter, I took the high road when tempers flared. In the end, I was unharmed... and in fact quite pleased with my technique that rendered a very strong fighter's blows ineffective.

Looking back at my first Addison story, I thought I'd need a realistic explanation as to how she can get smacked by a wyvern and soar through the air without much harm done. I thought my life experience would cover that.

Also, when I was 23, volleying over tables was a feat of agility I could handle easily in workboots, and I weighed over 200 pounds. I was playing a barbarian in a LARP, so I liked to pull off all kinds of "extreme" actions. This was to cross a room quickly at the start of an in-game tavern fight. I think that experience helped me decide how Addison can move quickly through the tavern.

Okay, as a caveat here guys, this isn't going to be an extended fight scene where they fight off every person in the room. Maybe ten people, tops. I see this as being pretty short, for a few different reasons. Not everyone in the tavern hates elves--the innkeeper's views are part of a minority. Most people like the Iridheen, in general, and keep their elf-racism more subtle.

Second, the innkeeper knows that the party includes Loke Bloodaxe, and will shortly be informed that it contains Farrun Dragonrider as well. Knowing this, he is going to try and stop the fight, and oppose the people who are "defending his rights". He's not a stupid man, entirely. He doesn't want to get on the wrong side of the Queen's heroes.

(Otherwise, I mean, if the entire inn and innkeeper were violently hostile to them, it would make absolutely no sense for them to stay there and get murdered in their sleep.)

I hope that's alright, but don't worry--there will be plenty of combat in the future.

We're gonna start the brawl tonight, right? Because I'm going to be out this afternoon, and I don't want to miss out on the action.
