I think Mauve herself became an ice cream. This spell she failed supposedly detects magic up to 50 feet in the direction the mage is facing, but that's all. It does not create anything or modify anything, it's targeted to "self" and what she feels.
If she doesn't take too much damage or have any seizures I swear, she'll try again. ò.o

Why is everyone rushing inside the passage? I believe Hiljikki is still passed out and everything. *poker face*

After a carefulre- read of Sparkie's post, it looks like we're NOT rushing in. Or at least Rydh wasn't. If Cadell did, I'd like to think that he was either talked out of rushing in or that Ireth also misread Rydh's post and assumed her character wasn't going in alone. (Her post says something about seeing her companions around, which suggests Cadell's bravery is not at the suicidal extreme.)
Can we just say we're not in there yet, since if we were playing this game live, we'd have talked to each other about not rushing in?
Also, since we actually have time for our characters to get everyone together, I hope we can play this next encounter as a full party. Battle #3 had the confusing start where we made a plan and our characters had no effective way to communicate a change in plans.
This time, there's no reason for fighters to rush ahead or archers to wait somewhere, so if we get split up now, that's just sloppy.

To clarify, Cadell is focusing on the *thought* of his companions, and their presence alongside him on the journey, not necessarily in that very room at the moment. Sorry if that wasn't clear. He's by no means rushing in.
That's a relief. I'd hate to see Cadell saying, "Nooooo!! They got my other haaaand!! Where were you guys?!"

Yeah. ^^; I'm cruel to my characters, but not THAT cruel. Don't want to leave Cadell completely helpless for however long it takes to get him a new hand.

Oh. That was what I thought, until LS posted about going in.
Now I can't get rid of the mental image of Baldhart trying to get through the opening, all "we're going to save the woooorld!", stuck, while Cadell and Rydh stare in disbelief. ;x

*giggles* Thanks, now it's in my head too. XDD
I hope Mauve doesn't "help" Baldhart with a size reduction spell. A level 1 wizard can adjust a target's size by 10%, but if misfired... well, I don't want Baldhart to be in one of those 80s-cartoon shrinking episodes.

Don't worry, she doesn't know this kind of spell. Even if I didn't expect to fail this much, I know my luck so in the end I also avoided ranged spells.
Oh, but I may turn someone deaf. >D

Yeah it does. I started using double parenthesis in play by post games because sometimes people were using parentheticals in their in-game description of what they were doing. But I have found myself hitting the open or close parenthesis button twice in a row just out of habit.
