I don't see a reason. Hopefully Burnbright doesn't have something like 4HP total... I suppose if she's hit, the GM post would hint that she's badly wounded. (Nissa can use WIS to bandage, and she has goodberries for the wounded-but-conscious.)

I'm less worried about the other battle, since we've got high-level fighters equal in number to wimpy monsters. My only real concern there is people not leaving after the battle and alerting a non-wimpy thing around the corner.

For most humanoid-type creatures and PCs (except for monks), fist-fights are so-called subdual or non-lethal damage. So even if Burnbright runs out of HP as a result of being pummeled by fists, she's just going to be knocked out by non-lethal damage, as opposed to having her HP taken by a dagger thrust or something, in which case when she's unconscious she's bleeding out and dying unless someone helps her.

Ah, yes... she's a "capture" target. That explains the fisticuffs.

(Nissa will still drive her sword through the lizard's back, no matter how non-lethal he is. What kind of battle-goddess-servant gives up the advantage by fighting "fair?")

Did anyone else try to send a msg to Roderick?

We had three small battles going on. The rear group, the above ground group(I believe they completed it), and the under ground group. Anyone that wants to commit to a battle can find one.

Well... one battle is over, and now Baldhart's in a second battle. Keit, Cadell and Mauve are in motion where it makes sense character-wise, but that also makes in impossible for them to be in either battle.

Hopefully, once the battles are over, we'll get the band back together. (We're on a mission from God.)

New posts up. Sorry there are no news maps, but if I'd insisted on making them before posting I wouldn't be able to update until tonight, and even that would depend on how late I got in again!

Baldhart

"Hey, Drizzt! Your writer and my writer live in the same town. How about you talk to your guy, I talk to my guy, and..."

No? Can't do that? But...but...he's too far and magicky to grapple!

(Lunch break wasn't long enough to post. I'll have to jump in later. But... yeah, I figured alerting the lizards with less than half the party would lead to an evil caster.)

Aliron's trusty bow strikes again. Sad he can't kill a person facing him fair and square, ah but that is the nature of a thief.:rolleyes2:

Bressel can't nail that squirrelly lizard twice in a row, unlike Burnbright, she's hit twice. Only three damage though. Her waterdancing is working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1dH_RSP86c (And that is why Bressel hasn't stepped in.)

Della's bow skills suprised me. even with a negitive modifier she kia's one.

Nissa came close to nailing the fallen lizard, we'll see how the lizard fairs.

I'm assuming Baldy has time to see if the Drizzard will talk. She's trying to get in monk-charge range, and I figure clustered by the stairs is bad, and retreat with Alin moving in is not what one hoping for a future as a valkyrie would do.

Maybe getting the caster's full attention brings her closer to that future, but still, she'll get an extra kill before he can blast/hold/whatever her if he doesn't stop the lip-moving and arm-waving… uh, I think.

If he does cast, maybe his hopefully-crappy charisma will make the spell fail?

Aliron had tunnel vision.
He was suprised when he moved away from the group to see the new arrival.
His insticts were good though, move away from the entrance and the cluster of people.

What a Drow little man. #rimshot.

Hmm, what would an elf think of a drow? Probably no better or worse then any other person. One more person preventing him from checking on Branwen and Burnbright.
So he will target the drow(unless the Drow speaks first). If he is targeted, then the others can spread out and attack. If the group is attacked Aliron can deliver a painful message, that he shall not be ignored.

post 86 the last full room map, I place Aliron about 10(diagonal) squares from the hallway.

Consider Baldy's move a practice of her faith... sacrificing her own safety by getting the caster's attention. I have no expectation of a conversation happening, but grabbing the lizard was an excuse to get her closer (hopefully enough to charge).

I wanted to have her suggest something to Masama, but I couldn't justify a lot of words if she's giving a caster only a couple of seconds to stop his arms and lips. Her gamble is that Masama knows enough about magic to know a cluster of targets is good for a caster, bad for us.

You know what I'd really love to see happen with intimidate? (Besides a high-level spell blowing up in the caster's face and nuking the lizards around him, I mean.) Getting hit for 1 or 2 damage! Intimidate lowers all rolls by 2, so a weak attack doing absolutely nothing to whoever it hits would be pretty funny, especially if a caster failed to do harm. (If the damage is high, the -2 will still be nice!)

If I'm mistaken, of course I'l delete that last post. My understanding is that there were only two lizards. Alin finished off (or at least shot) one, and Baldhart grabbed the wounded one. She held him up in a half-hearted attempt to see if the dark elf will talk, then Liadan shot the same wounded lizard that Baldy was grabbing.

With everything happening at once, it could just as easily be that Baldy was unknowingly using a corpse as a hostage, though I personally think it's pretty funny with Baldy saying "two seconds" and trying to sound as if she really thinks her hostage matters to the elf, then THUNK—the hostage is dead.

Using the last full map, I'd say you're right.
The two were the ones slammed into each other, Aliron shot the one in front of Ankari, leaving only one,
and the one behind the statue, which I guess ran to get the drow.

Baldhart rushes the lizard, lizard hit by arrow Baldhart scoops up the lizard before it falls, not realizing its dead.
You have something to throw or a potential shield. If you are attempting a charge, I'd say shield. I don't think there's a bonus for charge and throwing a lizard.

The dead lizard/failed parley was my fault. I had no idea Liadan's target and Baldy's hostage were the same. ^^; Sorry!

Even though events are posted in a certain order, they're kind of all happening at once. So I just figured Liadan had already sighted down the lizard with no way of knowing Baldy was about to snatch it up. The drow had no intention of talking so it didn't change that outcome :)

The parley was doomed to fail, and I'm pretty sure Baldy would have uttered words like "heart" and "seek" to hint that she doesn't care if Alin shoots while she's talking. Basically, she wasn't in charging range and felt there was no harm in trying to stall with her words. (In other words, it was knowingly futile, but attempted in a nothing-ventured-nothing-gained sort of way.)

The monk's stun skill is nice, if Baldy or Masama can manage to rush a caster. (If we're not followed, we could actually discuss how to deal with Drizzt in game.) I don't know if an arrow could have prevented the spell, but if we can get out and just get the party together, I'd say the darkness spell is a blessing in disguise. I was hoping we wouldn't have to keep fighting while most party members can't get to us, but it made no sense to see the caster and say "oh $#!%: and flee. Now (I think) we have no choice but to fall back.

I have no idea if line-of-sight rules mean we definitely won't get blasted by the Nuclear Magic Missile spell as we crowd into the exit, but I suppose it's get blasted by the door or blasted trying to tiptoe closer to a bunch of enemies. My guess is that if the darkness affects the enemy, he can't see us or shoot us. My other guess is that he's higher level than Mauve, as is his darkness spell. And my worst-case-scenario guess is that we can't see but the enemy can, or at least (second worst) the lizards have a sense of smell that gives them an advantage in absolute darkness... meaning to hide in a corner won't help, and you won't know that until you hear the sound of lizards closing in on you.

The darkness isn't a physical barrier of any kind. You can shoot into it or out of it, and you can cast spells into it or out of it. Of course, you're doing so blindly so the changes of hitting anything are going to be greatly reduced. An AOE attack like a fireball could still be fairly effective, though.
