Hey guys - sorry was out of internet reach over the weekend. I would have driven to a place that had it, but I was also a bit under the weather so I didn't get out and about a whole lot. I'm back at work now. The morning is jammed up, but I'm going to sit down and catch up on the thread over lunch :)

On the miscast spell, obviously Steerpike will let us know the effect via GM post, but it seemed that people interested in learning the spell (especially you, Ireth!) were hoping for the non-runaway magic route. Of course... now we'll know for certain whether there's runaway or not!

Indeed! I would have preferred to wait for Steerpike before anyone made another move, but obviously I can't control what other people do with their characters. As it is, I'm getting a bit behind since Cadell hasn't acted since the spell.

Also, what are your feelings about characters staying put and having a conversation about the next move? My thoughts are, if we have that discussion, Steerpike can maybe GM-post us to where we want to be, at least if the party's in agreement. (Ankari is obviously not in agreement with berry-picking, so I guess the discussion is [a] follow him or assume he's scouting and won't die while we pick berries.)

I like that idea. ^^

Cool.

Also, I'm glad you posted the plea not to keep jumping ahead. Since we're not playing at a table, it's very easy to speed up the game more than other players want you to--unwittingly, I mean.

Yeah. Probably could have posted it when I first miscast the spell, but I thought that my note of "we're waiting on Steerpike to describe the effects" might have been sufficient. Apparently not. ^^;

I'll get everything caught up, including PMs, this evening, even if I have to buy a gun to ensure some free time to do it!

Don't go postal on us! ;)

By the way, I got to go target shooting for the first time this weekend at my uncle and aunt's farm. I liked it more than I thought I would. I'm already getting ideas for stories from the experience. Makes me wish for magic guns in Dragon's Egg!

I haven't shot targets in over a decade--almost two. It was overkill because I inhereted weapons for hunting but never had the interest to shoot anything besides paper. Well, soda bottles filled with water were fun to shoot. A 30-06 makes the water burst several yards/meters into the air.

A note about Baldy's now-voiced interest in the 100 foot climb: I was waiting for a GM post about what she can do without a check. Baldy can make the climb!

(I still want her to get permission from party members for reasons stated in-character.)

I was considering the climb, but 100 ft would be death for Aliron if he failed. I think he can scale a rope with no check, but we have to get the rope up there first. hurl a ghook 70 feet up(ledge) at an angle or 100 ft straight up.

Nissa can fly up the rope and secure it. 100 feet is death for any of us. Even average damage with full HP Baldy is death with no hope of healing. 35 damage = -10 HP = DEAD!

I bet that was cool. All I got to use was a .22 rifle.
That's a more appropriate gun for paper. What I had was overkill. I suppose my uncle wanted me to be accustomed to the heavy kick, but I'm sure he knew I had no intent to ever hunt. (Nothing against those who do. I haven't forgotten where meat comes from.)

9mm pokes holes in 2liter water bottles, no big bang.
.38 a little better
.357 pretty nice
7.62(mini 30) ball ammo, similar to 357, no expanding ammo.

12 gauge brings showers even in a draught.

(I owned all above but the shotgun)
Firearm with the worst kick-M203 grenade launcher (attached to the M16) 40mm projectile takes alot to kick it down range.

We had a 50 caliber where I worked. That thing could do some damage.

I used to have a .22 pistol, and I've fired a 9mm numerous times. I fired a .45 once and that thing had a hell of a kick to it.

Question: Is Aliron psychic? Because he just answered questions that Cadell never actually asked out loud. XD

@SP, please confirm whether the berries Baldy found are any better than Nissa's darkened-by-the-Taint berries that we shouldn't eat. I'm off for now!

EDIT - And unless you DON'T need a check, leave that climb to Baldy. It turns out I was accidentally misinformed, but the math says I'll only get slowed, not killed, if I roll low--as long as I keep my armor off.

Mauve's humming does seem to soothe the harpy child, and she reluctantly detaches herself from Baldhart's leg. She still looks worried, but music appears to have a calming effect on her to a greater extent than you might expect from an ordinary child.
Then you haven't met The Dragon. For several months, The Who's Silas Stingy was like harpy charm to her. TMBG's Dr. Worm has a more powerful effect, which I discovered minutes ago: she claps. I didn't know an 8-month-old could do that!

Simple fix, if I could edit. Simply take away the quote and make it my statement, because I think we all were thinking it.
I did miss "no quotes". :)

He might be Psychic, he might just be psychotic, who knows he might be the sane one in the group.
