Well, it's in-character for him to try. Can I do more than one check per post? Like, a STR check first to try to lift Darin, then a WIS check to see if he's still alive? (I already failed my STR check, so if I can only do one per post, I'll just keep it.)

You can. I was suggesting with a WIS (Perception) check you might be able to tell if he's moving before you decide whether or not to run to him. If you run to him, you can certainly do a STR check to pick him up. Keep in mind he's laying next to Keit, where the creature is coming back to.

Gotta run. Will be in Big Bear Lake tonight. I'll try to get to an internet connection this evening in case there are further questions.

In light of Mauve's awesomeness, I want to know—if the rope send the singer crashing to the water, can Baldy plunge her readied attack (thrust!) since the bird likely lost its dex and takes the -4 situational for being prone? I think that's possible, so I'm posting a damage roll.

Any doubts about whether Baldy should have rescued Mauve and Alin are dispelled. Mauve rocks!

Ah, okay, that helps. I saw him as further away from her for some reason. ^^

See my PM. Cadell was 20' away or so. Since you ran up to him, you can make out a lot more without a WIS check. The check was mainly to see whether you could tell anything from far away :)

Might work. We'll have to see what the effects of the spell are on the rope and the creature.

It would be awesome if it works and Baldhart catches her. *_*

We've got to wait and see if the spell is effective. The nice, magical roll might help, but let's see... catch a target actively flying will be harder, than one just in front of us, even if she has 50ft of rope to cover the area in front of them.

The singer is swooping toward Keit, so I suppose Mauve could anticipate. Natural 20—nice roll for your last mana point!

Just a note about your latest post, Keit -- it's the GM's role to say exactly where the enemies are hit, not the player. ^^; If you want to aim at a certain area, you need to specify before you roll, and I think there are penalties involved.

@Ankari, when Nihal rolls a natural 20, we all get her cooties.

(Keit rolled a turn early, lucky for her. I suppose I hit if an entangled, crash-landing, naked bird-woman is prone and I get her back because of the face-plant.)

That's only PART of her excellent thinking. Here's the reason she and Alin can bear the music:

The most damaging attack in the game so far:

(@Nihal, hope you don't mind me sharing this awesome plan AND how you communicated it!)

At a guess, Sonic Burst and when Baldhart took them out of the door, in that order. Unfortunately, based on the narrative, she didn't have the mana to do it again, or else she would've.

Correct (including the part about wanting to deafen the party). And in case the rope trick seems to "easily" shut up the singing harpy, no this was not easy at all! Here are ALL the things that had to actually go right in order for Mauve to do that rope trick:

  1. Fail a STR check to overpower Baldhart
  2. Successfully cast Sonic Boom as shown in Nihal's diagram
  3. Succeed at a DEX check to avoid full damage – 6 damage from her attack, Mauve has 5 HP, she still took half damage, BUT note that she had to…
  4. …be close enough to her own attack to become partially deaf
  5. Successfully cast Magic Hands

Yeah, if not for Mauve, Baldhart admittedly would have just wasted time with her rescue attempt.

What is that attack? When did that happen?

Happened while you was busy with your newfound cooties! It's one of the new tricks she learnt from the lizard caster you killed earlier—the same attack that KO Mauve.

All the other characters saw from this was:

As you left the main room, the stone door that Baldhart carried Mauve and Aliron through shook softly, as though someone were beating on the thick stone. What occurred beyond it, you cannot say.

Or not, at least not while she didn't find where to throw it. She and Baldhart only took half damage because the wall partially blocked it (Baldhart, actually, because she rushed the lizards at the same time Mauve shouted a warn to stay back xD ). She needs to aim somewhere closer enough to do the damage and far enough to not injure the group.

Besides this detail, it's higher level than she is—it was hard to decide if she would attempt it in first place, without the information if it would work, so many things to go wrong—so, she won't use it easily.

@LS
Between the 2, 3 and 4 I had to decide how far she would aim in first place, having no idea of the spell's range, haha. At least Mauve has DEX as prime. >D

After using the sound blast trying mages hand now seemed like child's play... My first natural 20, to compensate all the 1s I got earlier. :D

Nihal is working within the limitations of being spell caster.
But really, failing str against Baldhart, not really that tough.

The rest is obstacles she overcame:
Magic control x2, dex check,

Do you remember Mauve's transformation? Both times I rolled exactly the minimum number required to succeed. ;x

With the sound blast I managed to get a roll 1 point higher than the minimum number... None of these spells are of my level, what is scary. I need to level up! <o>
