I look over at the slain beast, a slow smile coming to my lips. "That could very well work... though," I look at my stump, "it might be best for someone else to carry it. Something that large will no doubt require a two-handed grip, especially if we put it on a pole. Then again, it might be fine on my shield. It's worth a try."
Logically, it would probably be best to stick it on Mauve's spear, since she's already beat up, mana-light, and not the best in hand-to-hand combat anyway. Algernon doesn't know most of this, however. Since he has noticed Sir Cadell feeling "limited," he thought it would be a way to make him more "useful."
Which, of course, he means in all innocence—he doesn't mean to imply Sir Cadell isn't useful. It would never occur to him that he was making such an implication.
