I look over at the slain beast, a slow smile coming to my lips. "That could very well work... though," I look at my stump, "it might be best for someone else to carry it. Something that large will no doubt require a two-handed grip, especially if we put it on a pole. Then again, it might be fine on my shield. It's worth a try."

Logically, it would probably be best to stick it on Mauve's spear, since she's already beat up, mana-light, and not the best in hand-to-hand combat anyway. Algernon doesn't know most of this, however. Since he has noticed Sir Cadell feeling "limited," he thought it would be a way to make him more "useful."

Which, of course, he means in all innocence—he doesn't mean to imply Sir Cadell isn't useful. It would never occur to him that he was making such an implication. ;)

Yeah, I get that. ^^ But the truth is, Cadell *is* limited, physically at the very least. Losing your dominant hand will do that to you. And unfortunately he left his prosthesis behind in the table room, so getting that to use will take even longer, if it's even worthwhile.

lol, i have a feeling that Keit will end up trusting Cadell more than anyone oddly enough, but then it could end up the opposite. what side should Keit be on? and wouldn't that one ensnare spell work if it summoned roots to make a boat?

*imagines Keit beating up a lizard with her staff while Batos shreds a bunch of them*

oh could we just use the method that if Batos was human with a bonus of 2 str with a sword for his attacks? I think it would look like this:

[1d20+2] (for his attack chance) then [1d8+2]

is this right?

Right. You know that, I know that. Algernon sometimes sees things differently. We look at things that are, and ask "Why?"; he looks at things that never were, and says "Hello!" :p

Meh. That's a quick dash up the corridor, as I recall… can't remember off the top of my head. Can't be too far, since we've been hauling boats and tables back and forth from it. ;)

I'd think he'd want it along, just so he could use the shield at need. It can always be stowed in his pack when he isn't wearing it. I think you're playing it excellently, by the way: it should be awkward, and very uncomfortable if worn for long periods of time. If Hiljikki had had a couple days and better materials to work with, it would fit wonderfully and with minimal discomfort—though it would still be awkward until you got used to it. Which, of course, you haven't had the time for: you've only had it a few hours at this point.

On the other hand, if you don't want to be using it, we can punch a hole through the bottom of the lizard skull, clean out the brains, and you could wear the head directly over your stump. Which Hiljikki would be appalled at: that's definitely more of an Algernon idea. Though come to think of it, that may not be too bad: it's probably about the same size as a shield anyway.…

Entangle only works if there's vegetation around in the first place: it doesn't create any, just animates what's already there. It's also temporary—you wouldn't want it expiring while the boat was still on the water. Which it would, at your level.

If the material I have matches what Steerpike is using, a wolf would have +3 to its attack roll (+2 for "level," +1 for STR), and would do 1d6+1 damage with its bite. He'll have to confirm that, however: what I'm drawing upon isn't official C&C material. It isn't going to do d8 damage with its bite in any case—teeth are not a sword.

ahhh. lol thanks again. (feels like a student but not in a bad way) :p

You should never feel like a student in a bad way. The day I stop being a student is the day I die. (How do you think I learned all this stuff in the first place? ;) )

That's true. but my rolls have been consistently crappy while wearing the prosthesis and shield, so I'm not sure Cadell thinks it's worth it.

I love that mental image! I can just see Cadell doing that, putting on his best monster growl for added scary effect. XDDD Here, have some rep points.

just put in tidbits from my book in the Showcase thread if anyone wants to check it out! (Now you'll know my writing style!) :D

I hope my reaction to Nod's departure was okay. Cadell didn't want the little guy going off on his own. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough to catch him. ^^;

Somehow the poor little Nod always run away from the group!
And I'm still curious!

P.s.: Wait, Cadell ran after him all the way back to the temple? It's not really close...

Oooh, you're right. Uhm, how should I edit that, then?

I have the map Mauve drew—but never had the chance to bring it to the RP. It's not accurate, of course, but might help in your decision.

They're currently at the "Water?" section. You could chose one of the places where the path splits up, like the first with the doors (which is really close), or the turn before the trapwire corridor (a bunch of minutes farther away).

Ireth, i just thought of something about the necklace Keit wears. could it possibly be a priceless artifact that marks Keit as one of the nobleblooded? she wouldn't know about it as her family was killed and they lived far away when she was young, so that would be a cool "reveal".

Sounds cool to me, but you might want to get Steerpike's opinion before you do anything. I'm not sure if he's decided any specifics about elvish royalty/nobility in the north.

Also, I just thought of something. This could be the perfect opportunity for Cadell to come across Keit, if she perhaps wandered down into the tunnel on her own out of curiosity. What say you, Steerpike?

It is possible Cadell could encounter Keit first. Actually, we have a setup for Keit already, but if you guys would rather approach it in a different way that's fine too. I'm happy with what the players want to do with the story. But the current setup we have also gets Keit right into things.
