Nihal

Valar Lord
She really doesn't. One thing is doing this out of necessity, another is randomly doing this in the not-the-most-favorable situation. Although it would allow her to recover some of her energy the person carrying her will tire. If someone just helps her to walk she won't get any rest, being a hindrance in fights, and the person will tire. It's also useful to have your cleric with full mana before a fight.

Unfortunately, she couldn't even stand after the transformation. :/

So I'm a bit confused. How long was the wait between Nissa's appearance / people's downtime and the return to the boat? I'd thought there was a decent rest period, but then people are said to be ready "in short order", which implies not a lot of time to get a proper rest, or for Cadell to have enough time to make Mauve some decent footwear.

Not very long, for sure… though how long that was hasn't been specified (and probably needs to be, for mana users). At a minimum, it was long enough for a couple people to skin a huge multi-limbed lizard, cook some of the meat and have a meal. So Cadell would probably have had time to at least make a couple improvised slippers. Creating "decent" footwear (that is, durable and protective—thought that might be good to mention given recent discussion) would be well beyond his ability, seeing as he's had a single lesson in sewing thus far. ;)

Given what people said they were doing and my own best guess at how long those things would take, I'd estimate no less than an hour, more likely two, probably no more than three.

If we want to retain any tactical advantage from overcoming obstacles more rapidly than might be expected, we should move out as soon as we are physically ready to—arguably, should not have spent the time doing what we did do, let alone add anything else to the list. "Physically ready" would depend on how long it takes Mauve to recover from her experience, however. Unless I missed something somewhere (I may have), no one was injured once Baldhart was brought up to full.

Mana is what we'll probably have to base the decision on.

To which I'd add that since we're less than half an hour from the temple, there would be no real benefit to remaining where we are to rest, when we could be someplace more defensible (and which would require less consumption of our unspecified-but-no-doubt-limited lighting resources). I have no problem with us having to "retake the same ground" when all that ground consists of is a long straight hall: if our foes want to take the fight there, so much the better, since we're familiar with it, and probably hold the advantage when fighting in narrow quarters to boot. Whereas, conversely, if we were to rest in the room and secure the door, they could as easily be waiting outside it in force when we do emerge, leaving us no better off (if no worse) than if we were coming back from the temple.

The group that was left behind when the first boat went should feel free to do whatever they like as well :)

I'm so glad her spell didn't fail, otherwise we would have a naked, freezing wizard lagging behind them and with less mana. Somehow when I try to be cautious it doesn't go as expected, but the "do something stupid" tends to work with her. :D

Ironically, the two barbarians are the ones not fighting yet. But mine got to be a "healer." Force-feeding… how else is Baldy supposed to be a healer?

Steerpike, does it work that I posted my action with a note that the force-feeding happens after Aliron fires? I figure that would be hard to coordinate if fighting, but an archer is fairly stationary, and Baldy has no pressure and can focus on Aliron right now. I figure by the time she gets the berries, he fired, so all she can do is shove them into his mouth.

Random question: If anyone were to write home about things, roughly how long would it take for them to receive replies? (Allowing for variations in distances to and from people's homelands, of course.)

I wanna send out an Internet High Five to Ireth for some awesome RP. We've got something good going here, and Ireth's excellent characterization makes it possible. Thanks!

It would take about a month to get a reply from the major human port city at the mainland to a message sent from Srilkind. The message would travel by water, as you all did on the Bladnir. The additional time involved would depend on how far beyond that the message has to go. Could add anything from an extra week or two to many months.
