I'm not sure if Aliron heard the chaos outside. I think some characters are assuming the children are in danger due Mauve's shouts, but she doesn't know they are in danger, she's no elf (I don't think any elf had the grace to warn them hah). The two enemies outside signaled there could be more, and she wants to prevent an attack on the ones left behind, unaware that it already happened. The way she freaks out over unguarded rears and leaving children unattended is well established.

I think characters have enough info to assume that if lizards are seen outside, and the people with Branwen are delayed, we failed to see hidden lizards and should worry—especially knowing the lizards have killed children already. Alin heard Mauve shout the word "children" more than once, and Baldhart's "fight me" battle cry was intended to reach elf ears.

EDIT - Also, Baldhart's assumption, "A horse and a wolf might get there in time," is loosely based on her combat sense skill. I figure with her training and experience in real battles, she's well aware that battles happen in less than a minute. She saw two lizards who seemed to call back to other unseen lizards. Her assumption is either there is no battle, or there is, but…

…either the others can handle it, or they can't and she'll sense Nissa's spirit before arriving. She knows Nissa will be in the fight. I would have Baldy bolt after the kids (though not without ensuring her battle is over), but seeing Liadan enter the caves will tell her that silence in the caves may already have been broken. She'll want to check that out.

(Having a kid there will make it easier for her to justify backing out of the cave, though out-of-game, I'm hoping that'll happen just so all players are in the fight.)

Mauve on the other hand is inexperienced in battle. Why do you think she's running?

Rather unrelated: So, I feel a bit shy in posting it here, but it wouldn't make sense to not post it. I found a very old WIP of Mauve and I've been working on it on my spare time for the last month (lol). Those idiotic pieces make up for awesome practice, if you mess up no one will ever know.

A post-apocalyptic-I-grab-anything-I-find-and-wear-it look is very fitting. Most of her clothes were hacked, pierced, torn, burnt or simply destroyed by now, and you've gotta make the best of what was left. She has her warrior facade to keep and... ok, I admit, she's got no fashion sense either.

Let me hide in a corner now.

The vacations thread hasn't been working for me. If I click on it, I end up on the main forum page!

Anyway, I'm off for the weekend tomorrow night. As long as I know if either of my characters have killing to do, I'll PM rolls to SP before I take off so those Brynhild devotees won't be uncharacteristically inactive in battle.

EDIT - PM's sent, though I'll have my characters act today if I can.

Didn't think I'd be online at all... Life with an iPad is different, I guess. Anyway, I just found one more reason why I can never be like Baldhart or any other characters I like to write. I can never be that outdoorsy, and as we drove past campsites and people who sleep under the stars, my wife asked what animals are out there. I said,"bears."

On the return trip, I saw one. It was cute. From inside an SUV, it's easy to appreciate how cute a bear is because it can only disembowel you if you get out of the vehicle. You can also do stupid things that would normally get you killed, like yell LOOK, A BEAR!

My mother-in-law asked what to do if you're camping and you see a bear. I said, "die." So we're indoors now. I'll go see nature in the morning. Late morning. Nature's still there at 10:00.

Next weekend will be busy for me.
Fair: all dog events are during the weekend.

But it seems like we don't post alot during the weekends anyway.

Click on "vacations" thread and it takes me to main forum page. Weird.

Okay… so it's not just me who can't get into that thread. Anyway, I'm back from my little vacation.

I posted pictures of my kids, but not of the bear. I think even if my wife had the camera in hand, that photo would not have happened. I was glad she made no attempt to get the camera, and just enjoyed the moment.

Cool. Should I just use the pre-rolls I sent you (at least until the current battles they were intended for end) or do you want me to make all new rolls?

I'm fine either way.

Whatever you prefer is fine with me. I didn't get home in time to finish the maps last night, so I'll try again tonight. My boss has been out of the office, and on top of that my brother, sister, and mother (three separate households) are all moving this month, so things are a bit hectic. I thought I'd get home a lot sooner than I did last night!

I've got hits and misses, but if you're leaving it up to me, my feeling is that they're legit rolls so I'll keep them for the battles they're intended for. Baldy's first roll is a combo, though she'd charge if that's the only way to reach the enemy. I expect there won't be 7+ free spaces on the part of the map where she can actually run, hence my rolling as a combo.

A question about combos (whenever you can get to it)… if I keep having Baldhart attempt combos, will the dual attack penalty eventually drop? (I'm guessing -2/-4.) I feel like weak enemies are good for her practicing combos, even though I know it's advantageous to grapple when she can. I'm thinking being good at combos will help when she faces a large beast that can't be grappled, like that six-legger that tried to eat her.

I thought maybe my computer was messed up. No posts for over a week?
Been busy on vacation, but have checked almost every other day, mostly ninja'd.

I should be back up as of today. Last week, between moving three households and the death of my boss' father, I didn't have time for anything. It was crazy. This weekend was all moving, which I finished late last night and the internet wasn't on at the new place. Should be up and running this evening :)

@Legendary:

I'll get you the progression for dual attacks for monk this evening. It does indeed drop as the monk levels.

Cool. I'm mostly curious, as grappling is more likely to hit (vs. creatures that can possibly be grappled) while combos are potentially more damaging. It sounded like the way to reduce the dual attack penalty is to use dual attacks, which is why Baldhart might use the small lizards for "target practice"... at least until their big, scary, magical boss comes around the bend!

No problem.
Just wasn't expecting no posts while I was on vacation.
I truly thought something was wrong with my home computers.

What I did on my vacation.

Best in breed, best in class.
won money.
She was the only one in her class and breed, but she won money so its a win.
Officially she is in the breed "all American" aka Mutt, but both parents were registered full bloods (Min-pin and Chihuahua)
