Oh, and speaking of heavy weapons... I don't know why I didn't think of doing this sooner, but check out these weapons:
Weapons-for-Sale.png

Ignore all that stuff about liger tails and lemming crystals and such. The weapons themselves are from a game called Monster Hunter. I actually was given permission by the artist AND Capcom (yeah, that huge game company that doesn't know who the hell I am) to use this art as long as there's no money in it. It's not just these 8 weapons. There are dozens, which are divided into 7 categories:

Longswords: those weapons named after Reaver, katanas, a naginata and more knightly longswords including a glowing blue one called Rising Soul (which may end up in Diana's hands if I can find a shield to pair with it).

Switch-Axes: I can't make them change to swords, like they could in-game, but Addison has the heavy weapon skill and uses an axe that can paralyze an enemy. I'll likely give these weapons in-game abilities, so some axes will have paralysis "phials" while others have elemental phials. There's also a "power" phial and a "dragon" phial.

Hammers: the Lava Core Hammer looks like it should have magic as the axe does, so my thought is to not limit the phial concept to the axe. The hammer will likely have different magic than the axe, which is more area-of-effect stuff like "thunder." Of course, the Lava Core Hammer causes an explosion.

Great Swords: two-handers like Fenellas are great swords. The Valkyrie Blade looks cool and has a great name for a weapon I envision in the hands of an amazon.

Sword and Shield: that's the category Sea Striker belongs to, but there are cudgels, hand-axes, tomahawks and knives as well. There might be a wakizashi under this category. I forget.

Lance: there are spears, halberds, a naginata (which I guess is longer than the longsword version) and a huge metal shark. I probably won't use the shark. Anyway, these come with shields, giving shield maidens several choices. (Anyone interested in learning to fight with a shield should talk to Diana.)

Bowguns: I don't have any pictured here, but there are guns you can assemble in MH. Just using part of the gun works great for Addy's grappler. Some bowguns have a part that looks like a bow. Since I have to erase all that dark gray area, it's no trouble to erase more to change some bowguns into normal bows.

Once I bring these into the game, I'll support the following weapon categories:

1. Light Weapon - these inflict normal melee damage.

2. Katana - only these can be used with the samurai "quickdraw" skill. Once drawn, a katana is no different than a light weapon.

3. Weapon + Shield - a shield is necessary for the shield maiden's defense bonus. Any one-handed weapon (including a katana) can be used with a shield.

(I'm under the opinion that you can't wear a shield and have the "quickdraw," but if a samurai and shield maiden exchange skills, I'm happy to work something out--maybe an "Afro Samurai" style that uses the scabbard for blocking?)

4. Dual-Wield - pretty much any long sword + short sword combination or any two short swords/cudgels/blades. Same damage either way--I just prefer to pair the katana with a wakizashi rather than having two katanas.

Dual wielding can also include combinations with throwing weapons or derringers ("One-shots"). So... any two weapons that can be operated with only one hand.

5. Heavy Weapon ("big") - great swords, halberds and naginatas have the multi-hit capability as used by Reaver and Fenella. The range is better than what I posted in the weapon update. I think strong will have a 120-degree arc or 180-degree arc, while the max attack hits all surrounding enemies.

6. Heavy Weapon ("fat") - axes, hammers and Giant-Flowers-That-You-Can-Hit-People-With lack the reach of the "big" weapons. What they lack in multi-hit ability will be compensated in another way.

(This is the only weapon type not already in a player's hands.)

7. Throwing Weapon - short spears, knives and tomahawks can be used for fighting or can be thrown. They inflict the same damage as range weapons, making them more versatile but less damaging than normal melee weapons.

8. Ranged Weapon - bows and guns inflict normal ranged damage, but can inflict more damage using special ammo. The default arrow is "robin" and the default bullet is a "cheap shot." Both are fired twice when a 20 is rolled.

The derringer ("One-Shot") doesn't benefit from a 20 unless the gunslinger is carrying two of them. (It's a gun made for dual wielding.)

Of course, there are the unarmed styles...

9. Unarmed Combat - nuns and brawlers are the experts, with nuns inflicting the most punch/kick damage and brawlers being the wrestling pros.

10. Magic - pixies kick ass! I like that magic is powerful, so I'll leave it that way. I think now that heavy, dual, and unarmed styles can hit multiple enemies, the fighting styles are more balanced.

There is a sword of light called "Rising Soul." It's not a katana, but I can always alter katana art to create a glowing blade.

Next update, I'll give MH weapons to all characters and position hands so most weapon combinations can be gripped. It might be smart if I make different positions for the arms and keep weapons separate from the characters. You never know when a telekinetic ally will use your spare weapon!

If there isn't a meat-cleaver-like MH weapon, I'll simply find a meat cleaver pic. But when you find special/magic weapons or when Reaver finally gets a moment to use a forge, he can make weapons. Reaver "Cruelty" and Reaver "Calamity" are actual weapon names from MH. I think one of my NPCs will carry the Tusk Lance+ (read as "Tusk Lance Plus").

Weapon names will be the same as in MH unless I alter the art, in which case I'll name the weapon or the player might.

@Noma, Ireth,

I added lyrics in a spoiler tag under "Song of Sacrifice."

...like THIS:
"I would rip my heart out for you
Dripping blood to the beat of the drums of war
I would sacrifice all for you
And the worthy cause that you're fighting for

Rise, fallen brothers
Against all the others
Who stand for what smothers
What makes us free

Fight, my brave sisters
May your might slay the misters
Who don crooked crowns
Intent to take the world down

And leave me here to lie here and bleed
It's my sacrifice, my pleasure, your need"

When Muziko catches up with you, if she, Vincent, and Mariya sing together, even the singers gain a heart (and those not singing gain three). With two singers, the singers gain nothing while everyone else gains two. Those missing more than one heart will have red hearts (2HP per heart instead of 3HP) for one turn. If Vincent is currently missing part of a heart*, he'll actually end up healing a little bit. Maryia's at full health, so she'll feel a slight pain after the song, then she'll be healed instantly.

*Using graphics to track health means that a spell meant to heal 3HP will sometimes give you 4 or 5HP simply because it's easier for me to keep track of health/healing if I just use the graphics. You benefit from my laziness. (And here I am having you beat lazy men to death like their sin is so horrible.)

Technically, there can't be any more player attacks vs. cyclapes now. Diana and Jei attacked, and the one cyclape downstairs cannot be harmed*, but I'll wait for Monday, so we don't get too far ahead of those who are offline during weekends.

*(Lighting the fart will do something, but you will not like it. As it says at the bottom of the map, "the cyclape cannot be harmed.")

Okay, thanks for the heads up!...had to edit my post.

Diana is growing wings... oh dear. Does that mean she had a near-death experience? Or she's dying? Or did Bee just see fit to turn her into a valkyrie a little early?

Technically, Ireth had it right. Please refrain from speaking for characters other than your own. I thought I'd play off it, since seeing a large cyclops woman bound by the rope might look like someone with a spear. (Diana uses a sword.)

Anyway, all this map-making is making me quicker with my tablet. Here's a map I made for my kids and some friends so they'd know which parts of the yard have hidden eggs.

The result was 5 little girls scrambling in different directions and grass stained white tights, but everyone had fun including the adults.

Yay! I love purple!

I'm assuming those of us with two characters only roll once. If I need to roll again for Diana, do let me know.
