Just want to note I haven't dropped out or anything. Just trying to finish some writing related stuff before the New Year. I'll be jumping back in next week sometime. Hope that's cool!
Yeah, that's fine. Dragon's Egg is also paused this week, and it is a crazy week for me. If any update required new art, I wouldn't be able to post myself!
Just a question for clarity -- when you say certain days are GM days, does that mean you'll push the game forward regardless of who has or hasn't yet posted, with certain characters on autopilot until their player posts again?
I don't want to auto-pilot anyone, ideally. I'm hoping if the game's pace is relaxed (3 turns per week instead of up to 7), we can all do our part to keep things moving.

If I'm posting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I'm hoping players can all do their part to post between my posting days. We'll see how that goes. I don't want to commit to auto-piloting people, but there are other solutions. (Example - roll 3 turns and PM/post intention: "I hit the nearest guy", "keep firing the cannon", "protect the girl", etc.)

PS- I saw The World's End last night. Nick Frost's character, Andy, is everything a heavyweight brawler should aspire to be.

I can see I'm going to have a tough time waiting to update. I'm already at the point that I want to post the next turn!

By the way, I rolled the cannons and the Cap'n just so I can update the maps. I'll wait for other players to act before I roll the frogs. Everyone who hasn't rolled is facing a single opponent, so if you don't specify an opponent, I'll assume you're hitting the frog who attacked you.

So, about my post, IS there a way to cast a Fireflower at, say, the three frogs to Diana's left without hurting (too many) other people? I don't want to waste a roll like that on a Sparkler, and charging from a 19 seems risky!

EDIT: Just realized I probably can't reach further than the frog directly in front of Vincent with this spell, so I'll be aiming for that one first. Then, if possible, I'll work on eliminating the rest.

I have Vincent aiming between the four frogs clustered together. I'm going to have to tell you you're stuck with it since I already updated that side of the map and I can't undo what's been done. Even if I could, I don't want to, and you don't want me to!

Alrighty then. I don't dare argue with the GM (even if I wanted to)! Gah, waiting until Wednesday for an update is going to be hard!

That's the 2014 rule. It's still vacation, so I'll push soon. I'll give Severin a chance to post first, though… um… he's got a tough act to follow. I hope he at least rolls a 10, or I'll feel sorry for him.

EDIT - Speaking of 10… didn't the map look scary with 10 frogs? 8 of which get to attack first? Was there a moment when you thought, 'this is impossible?' Perhaps sometime before two consecutive 20s were rolled?

ANOTHER EDIT - I just realized that Shan Mai has his sword sheathed, which means he has to roll REALLY low to not kill a frog.

@Severin, a tip - use your quickdraw (Mae) for this turn. It's better than dual wielding (two attacks, but they hit harder and there's no offense penalty) and you can always whip out a cleaver on a later turn.

Yes. Bad editing.

I meant Shield Maidens to be lacking in stealth, not samurai.

Regarding the stealth and agility ratings for preachers and shield maidens, there's some divine intervention happening there. The fighting nun can do crazy acrobatics, while the shield maiden is more likely to dodge what normally can't be dodged. Fairies are small, so they naturally have high stealth capabilities.

Also, I consider grappling to be a combination of strength and agility, making heavyweight and lightweight brawlers equals. But, um… fairies are not equals.

By the way, do you guys want me to push tonight? We're about to hit the 48-hour limit.

EDIT - well, the 48-hours is up tomorrow at noon, but still, the vacation ruling was to push after three posts and it's been 24 hours since the third player post.

I'd love a push tonight, time allowing. ^^ What better way to ring in the New Year than to kick some amphibian butt? :D

Okay, just in case Sparkie or Severin gets on tonight, I'll wait until the kids are in bed, then post. The post is written and I PM'd it to myself. I rolled for players who didn't roll but are in position to strike an enemy, but won't count those rolls if players roll and post.

@Sparkie, Severin,
If rolz is down, instead of rolling post any number from 1 to 5. If you pick my number, you miss. (Both of you have an 80% chance of hitting your target.) You can also use Unseen Servant to roll while rolz is down, though I personally would prefer we just use rolz when it's available. It seems to go down every few months so I no longer worry when I see the blue question marks.

About the strength + agility = grapple… classes with Unarmed Combat have the advantage in grappling. It might be that you only use strength if you lack the skill. That way, giant creatures become equals in grappling to all the unarmed classes. It's important that any tweaking to the rules doesn't ignore the fact that PJ used his Sleeper Hold to take down a huge orc.

Updated Class Acts thread. The strength/stealth/agility ratings are now listed under each class as well as on the chart.

I'm also going to add a post to clarify the difference between 2 stars and more than 2 for dexterity feats. The short version for now: the samurai and fighting nun are as stealthy as they need to be. The huntress and preacher have one stealth skill that 2-star classes lack: they can find a sniper hole. Basically, only ranged/magic classes have a use for 3-4 stars.

The amazon can try to be sneaky, but it may not work out for her.

Hope my post is clear with regards to the content of the letter versus Vincent's interjections. I was kinda going for a similar thing to Gandalf reading from the book of Mazarbul in Moria, in the book of FOTR.

It was better than what I would've done, Ireth. If Reaver had gotten the letter I'd have done it similar to the wet letter Navin Johnson gets from his love Marie in "The Jerk".

Navin (reading) Dear Nabbbin, Rouuu here eeerrr I searrrr forward

Well, since I seem to have goofed and misunderstood the PMs I got about the letter, I'll be editing my post. Vincent can read the whole thing. Hopefully that doesn't mean others have to edit their subsequent posts too much. ^^;

EDIT: Ooooor, I'll just ask LS nicely to edit my post for me and make it so, since my limit is over. >_>; Please and thank you?

The cool part is that you really went through the trouble of reading…

letter_01w_by_legendarysidekick-d70k3mw.png

…this^

It was hard for me to know how legible it was since I already knew what it said. I very randomly rubbed away the letters, so it wasn't like I aimed for important text.

Die rolls 2-9, 10-15, and 16-19 each would earn you different lines of text. If you figured out enough information, the plan was to "promote" your die roll. To get a 16-19 to promote to 20, you had to do very well with the deciphering. I think you figured out ~80% of the message. That and rolling within 16-19 was the reason you got the whole letter. Of course, a 20 would've got you everything even if you didn't "work" for it.

So much for my first week at the new job. School was cancelled for two days due to heavy snow and six-degree weather. Not six degrees from Kevin Bacon. Six degrees Fahrenheit. So what did I do with all this fee time? Well, for one, I worked on game pieces for the Flat Earth home game:

Not really. My oldest got a glass painting set, so she drew a self-portrait (lower-left) which I refuse to call a "selfie." I drew two characters who will eventually show up in-game: Addison Lane and Kojima Hanako (top two), and I named Amelia's alternate blonde version of the latter "Barbieko," named after the doll who taught my half-Asain, dark-haired daughter that yellow is the prettiest color of hair.

On the right is the character meaning "fortune," which in romanized Cantonese looks like an F-bomb. The actual pronunciation bears little resemblance to the profanity.
