*reading the Hero Sandwich Shop Thread* Gluhwein for $12.25... I see what you did there. XDDD
Yeah, I was planning to do like Hong Kong and have prices go down to the tenth of an $. I priced the oyster dish to look like S.O.S. (Save Our Ship), but thought $505 is a rip-off when the fugu sashimi only costs $149. But then I did the 12.25 thing, so…

There are now THREE coins in this game:

"jack" = $10
"maiden" = $1
"quarter" = $0.25

Boring name, I know, but what else would you call it? A fourth? Bah! Who the hell would put something called a "fourth" in an arcade machine? I mean, besides a guy in a country where they have fourths instead of quarters and the arcade machines accept fourths but not quarters? I'm thinking it—the QUARTER—is copper colored—the UNAMERICAN quarter—because all RPGs have gold, silver and copper. But my game's original because the ratio is inconsistent. There are four kinds of quarters, each with a different "pixie" on the coin: valkyrie, fairy, muse, wisp. Collect all four and trade them in for a cookie!

This is an addendum to my post in FE: Side One. From Reaver's personal collection, an ancient drawing of The Warrior wielding his Shimmering Naginata.

Can we assume Beatrice is still speaking mentally to Diana to let her know what's needed from the ammo room? She can't read lips or sky writing in such a dark room, unless Vincent can get the writing to glow somehow.

Quarter?
Pix or Quat?

But if you collect all four couldn't you trade it for a maiden?
Cookies cost a maiden?

Bacon wrapped chicken leg?
Now I want that for real.

I was trying to find a large turkey leg, but one that didn't have an apparently modern background. While the turkey leg I found wasn't exactly Flintstone-esque, the bacon wrap made it extreme enough.

@Ireth,

Yes, go ahead and assume that between Vincent and Beatrice, someone can keep Diana in the loop. Sky Writing is effortless magic and follows the same rule as talking—which is to say, there is no rule. (I trust you guys not to write five-minute speeches for turn-based parts of the game.) So Vincent can Sky-Write and still perform other actions, and Beatrice just walks, talks and sends telepathic messages to Diana as far as you know. Aside from being the bravest little girl you've seen since reading an Arya POV, she doesn't seem capable of combat. (That, and she only has 4 HP.)

And "yes" to your other question: We can call quarters "pixies." (Or to answer it as it was phrased, "It was late and I was tired." But my point is go ahead and refer to copper coins as "pixies.")

So is that a yes to glowy writing? She won't be able to see it otherwise.

Arya Stark, I assume? Never read her POV. XD I couldn't get into GoT. As for Beatrice's HP, I guess that will improve as she levels, if she survives long enough to. Or is it a static thing?

I'm doing the Zelda-ish thing where you eventually earn more hearts. Beatrice could really use one!

Yes to glowiness. Assume that Beatrice is making sure Diana knows what's going on conversationally. (I'll PM you for other stuff.) She would know if Vincent is sending the message already and not "talk over him." So you can take some liberty regarding who sends what message. If Vincent and Diana end up on different maps, Beatrice will stick with Diana unless persuaded to do otherwise.

About feats of STR, GRRM inspired me today. ASoIF uses "stone" as a measure of weight. It turns out that 1 stone = 14 pounds. For moving heavy stuff, the d20 determines how many "stone" you move in one turn.

Normal characters can move objects weighing 20 stone (280 lbs) with effort. This is 10 pounds heavier than what the D&D character with an 18 in STR can lift… the wuss! When you roll for STR but fail, your second try has a "minimum" roll of 10 and your third try is an "automatic 20." You don't roll for objects weighing less than 100 pounds. Pixies need telekinesis to lift heavy things.

Powerful characters will have a bonus in strength (roll x20 lbs. instead of x14 lbs.), and there are ways to increase STR (x26, x32…).

This means the roll for kegs (~124 lbs.) should really be 6 for Ender and Vincent and 9 for everyone else. Let's pretend Beatrice is praying and you get +1 to your STR roll right now so I'm not a jerk for decreasing the d20-roll:weight ratio because I read a book today.

LS, that silhouetted picture of the Cap'n and Cookie is epic! That may be the best overall composition I've seen from you, and considering the web comic stuff you did that's saying a lot.

Thanks… and now we've got the cannon aimed. Anyone got a light?

You have your weapons and your in-game skills. Nothing more.

It's tempting to have Vincent try to light the fuse with a firework... but if he only needs a Sparkler and I wind up rolling enough for a Grand Finale, we could have problems. ^^;

I think I PM'd you saying you're allowed to use a lower spell rather than being forced to cast Nuke. But… ((PM coming! There's a couple ideas I want to run by you since they only affect your characters.))

Anyway, as long as your spell doesn't fail, you won't have a problem lighting the cannons (or Nuke-ing the pirate ship if you roll <10, charge, then roll 20 on the next turn).

Yup. I'll assume you lit the Cap'n's cannon.

Only kidding… Sparkler on Cookie's fuse. I'll give Phil and Severin a chance to post before updating. The kegs will be placed as close to the edge of the ship so if you use Fire Flower or Grand Finale you won't blow up the kegs. Unless there's a reason* to be elsewhere, Cookie and Cap'n will get behind the cannons when Vincent casts.

A reason with webbed feet, revolting pantaloons, and the tendency to croak after 1-3 turns.

Judging from the PM you sent me, I thought a Fire Flower would work to light both cannons at once. That's what a 14 does, isn't it?

14 charged is Fire Flower. Not charged, 1-9 = nothing; 10-15 = Sparkler.

I have Vincent casting from the dark room near the exit, by the way, so if you do cast something big he won't singe himself.

While I'm replying, let me give you guys a heads up…

Sailing west as the full moon rises is to your advantage. Now you can easily see the smoke trail and have an idea as to roughly where the enemy's cannon will hit.

Left = aiming for Cap'n's side. The shot could hit the water or around the center of the ship, but Cookie's side and the dark room are safe.

Center = aiming for the dark room. the shot could destroy one of your cannon supplies*. It could set off a ton of powder kegs. (Very bad!) It could make a hole in the floor.

Right = aiming for Cookie's side. Again, dark room and Cap'n's side are safe; chance the cannon ball will hit the keg, splash into the water, or hit the ship doing structural damage.

Tip: Cookie or Cap'n can move the keg. Vincent's telekinesis allows him to move the keg from as far as the left side of the dark room map (and with a lower roll). Remember, it takes two turns for a cannon to reach its target. That's true for both sides. One turn is the "boom" and the other is the hit.

I finally remembered to add a "cage" around the stacks of cannon balls so it makes sense that they don't roll everywhere as the boat rocks. Umm… pretend it was there the whole time. It was so dark in there you didn't notice.

It's also too dark to see the ropes that prevent the kegs from tipping over and exploding.

You can yell that if you must.

You can eat anything under $50. (No one ordered the puffer fish, and technically, the Oyster dish isn't supposed to exist until after this battle.)

Note: only one item will have an effect (if you eat more than one).
