I had Ireth roll a die for her PM.

You can have Kell think stuff if you want to. I was going to leave the PM as a teaser for what's to come in Ch.5, but I'm flexible.

But we haven't been able to talk directly to Artemis yet. Or is V a reboot chapter?

Oh. Is there a roll to regain consciousness? What should I use if so?

Ch.4 was short, but I liked the ending. It would have been darker without the unicorn fart though.

You don't need to roll dice. (Yet.)

Yeah, I did get a chuckle out of that, even though I wasn't positive what it was. The sound effect made me think fart, but Helix didn't mention that in Ch. II when he met Kell, he only mentioned rainbow poop. Plus when people get really scared, the most common involuntary bodily function I hear referenced is to pee or poop, and I can't say I've ever heard of a 'fear fart', so I just had Kell decide to not embarrass Helix by mentioning it. Then SHE wouldn't have to be embarrassed by incorrectly identifying it, lol.

There was a student (at the school wear I work) who kept announcing to her friend she was having "nervous farts" as she was exiting the school. She's actually an elegant young lady. I didn't expect her to talk about herself farting while farting.

I did my best to act as if I didn't hear the conversation, which I assume was not meant for my ears.

Minor point here, but I made a change and……… after writing a really long post about it, I realized I'm better off NOT explaining the change.

Short Version of 'Splainin' - Combos and saves both have you roll half the amount of dice, rounded up. There is eventually progression for the blue number of your choice (Lv.5+).

Hey LS, why do the Huntress and Fairy get 8 dice total across Power, Talent, and Instinct while the Amazon and Nymph only get 7?

I thought someone might ask that.

Huntress: 8 dice, normal health bar
Amazon: 7 dice, bigger health bar
Nymph: 7 dice, normal health bar, racial abilities
Fairy: 8 dice, smaller health bar, racial abilities

So the part of the balancing act that is easy to see is dice, and health is probably apparent though it's not typically factored in in RPGs. (Baldhart has d12 health. Cali has d4 health. Both have 66 attribute points.)

Less obvious is that the Nymph and Fairy have some kind of advantage due to having one more ability card. Especially since the Lv.1 ability isn't that great. Is being <3" tall even an ability? But long-term, that would be per deck. Every four levels, I'd have 4 Huntress, 4 Amazon, 5 Nymph and 5 Fairy ability cards in the HUNTRESS deck. (That works well for printing, since it's 18 cards per sheet.)

@tbgg,

Yeah, I'll open up threads. Gimme some time to copy-paste the conversations in. I did forget why we don't use PM's for this stuff!

Ireth, tbgg,

If anything was copy-pasted out-of-order, let me know. I was multi-tasking, which is something I try to avoid. I don't even like the word because it's like bragging about chewing gum and driving blindfolded at the same time, or nodding and saying intermittent uh-huhs while your wife's trying to have a deep conversation during Monday Night Football.

Or is it Sunday night? I don't watch football. Or drive blindfolded. Or chew gum. Yeesh. I apparently don't do much of anything.

Kell's looks good. Should we assume the rule of no peeking at the other person's experience until you say otherwise, LS?

@LS: If I want Kell to roll a Perception check, how do I do that with Power, Instinct or Talent? Before the changes, she would have rolled 2d6 - it's an unbonused skill for her.

Short answer: I don't think a roll is necessary, but if you roll, roll the better attribute.

Detailed answer:

For the card game, I won't have encounters that need perception checks so much as tracking, which would be instinct. I would say people-reading like sense movie would be talent.

I could see some situations where you could make the argument for either. Perception: talent or instinct, but clearly not power. Intimidation: power or talent, but I wouldn't say instinct. Survival: instinct clearly or power arguably, but it's not a talent. In cases like these, I'd say roll the better stat.

All I'm looking to do is have Kell listen for background noises at the moment, since she can't do much else. Perception isn't particularly a nymph talent, so for her, I'd tend to say it falls under instinct, but she does have better talent than instinct. But if you tell me to roll the higher stat, that's talent, which is a 4.

Since I don't know what roll I'd need to beat, I'm going to just roll 4e, for 4 six-sided dice, which I assume is a correct talent roll for a nymph. If it's not, please tell me what I'm not understanding.

Peeking in 4K & 4L threads should be fine at this point.

I totally forgot to describe P3N-N1 in one of the last 4L posts. You'll learn about Penni and others like her soon enough though.

Posts will be few and far between today, since I'm going out of town. With luck I'll come back with new glasses. :D
