One thing I should clarify:
Spell behavior is fairly rigid if you cast by yourself. Spell behavior is more flexible when combined with someone else's magic. So Kell might have a way to freeze the water, but not by herself (and not necessarily with Sigrlinn's spells).
Technically, if she skates on the water she would leave a trail of ice like Elsa walking across a pond, but I know that's not the freeze effect you're looking for and skating towards lots of spiders is suicidal.

What about the spells from Kell's staff, assuming she still has that? Entangle combined with....well, fire if they were on land?

I wasn't thinking of that (for the current situation), but yeah, you might be able to come up with something. Let's assume Helix has a means to keep your third weapon. So you have access to your staff and we can assume Kell's current weapons are staff and spear; Sig's are bow and gun.
The warning shot is loaded. Don't dismiss that. Rose is simply encouraging you to find a solution that you can use multiple times. The idea is to *significantly* cut down the number of spiders. (Check your spells, linked from the magic thread.) The nymphs can only shoot one spider at a time, so even if they can kill in one hit (Rose can if she charges two rounds to shoot multiple arrows and rolls a 10), that's not significantly reducing the number.
Also, pay attention to NPCs. Violet is forbidding Sapphire's involvement, so fire's out. Part of what I'm attempting is to get you to find ways to combine your own spells. There is more than one solution, including one that uses the staff. Once you find a way to effectively attack several spiders at a time repeatedly, THEN you can implement other ideas like wave + ride to speed up the moon boat, and readying the ice swords and warning shot as you pass under any remaining spiders.
All of your best possible solutions involve spell combinations. I can think of three, but I only had two in mind before the staff came up.

Do any of the nymphs do elemental magic? Because you said something about Kell combining spells to make ice, but not necessarily with Sigrlinn. So if Sapphie's help is out, who else does that leave?

Only Kell and Sigrlinn can combine spells at the moment. That narrows your options down to two spell lists...

Also worth noting: Sapphire's spell combined with Heaven's Arrow, but this also lit the non-magic arrows fired by the nymphs.
The nymphs aren't using magic, but have a special blessing from Artemis with gives them a Heaven's-Arrow-like ability (using physical arrows that don't miss after 1 round of aiming), and Rose has a riding hood (red, of course) with a robin-feather dreamcatcher clasp. This gives her the Robin Hood shot, which is just as damaging as Sigrlinn's fully-charged Heaven's Arrow.
The one difference which makes the air spell better than Rose's ability (in addition to not needing real arrows): Rose can only hit one target with both arrows, while Sigrlinn can choose to hit 2-12 different targets or send 2-12 arrows after the same target.

One more thing, Ireth, in case you didn't know…

No charge = #2d6/3 (normal arrow damage: 1 if you roll a 5; 4 if you roll a 12)
Charge one round = #2d6/2 + can't miss (in other words, a 2 inflicts 1 damage instead of missing)
Charge multiple rounds = #2d6 + choose: single or multiple targets (1 HP damage per arrow)

I only slept for a couple of hours last night, so if I'm babbling or a little slow on the uptake, that's probably why. I feel confused right now about what to do. Kell ALREADY cast both Wave Dance and Ice Blades, yet Wave Dance was ineffective and after Ice Blades, you said "No, wipe out more spiders first." We're apparently supposed to be combining spells right now, but I tend to doubt Pure Water will help much right now, regardless of what it's combined with. That leaves Entangle, but there's a part of me that's wondering if that's going to be ineffective, too. Besides, if there's greater variety possible with combined spells and we're supposed to visualize the effect we want, how can I have Kell visualize something if I don't know the effect we're going for? I can have her just cast Entangle - will that help?

Kell, my idea is to cast Ice Blades again, to help Sigrlinn's arrows. I don't think there's a rule that says you can't cast the same spell more than once per scene.

Ireth: if the goal is to wipe out lots of spiders, how are Ice Blades and Heaven's Arrow together going to accomplish that? I thought the whole deal with arrows is that we can't wipe out enough spiders using them?

I thought so too, but all the nymphs seem to say that's the best option, so who am I to object? Maybe if the ice arrows hit the water they'll freeze it and immobilize the spiders?

You haven't combined spells yet, unless I misunderstood. I thought Kell was casting Ice Blades without combining it, so officially (even if it's due to my error), Blades of Ice and Heaven's Arrow is not something you've tried yet (as a spell combination).

If you don't visualize anything, the spell combination will default to a certain effect. It might do that anyway.
Visuslize will basically work if you come up with a spell combination that repurposes at least one of the spells. Example: Sig wants to use Ride of the Valkyrie + something on the boat... I wouldn't have thought of that, but it's reasonable. You should find something that will work.
Combining two attack spells will default. Ice, Entangle and Wave will all do something... but as Sapphire pointed out, Blades of Ice seems like the strongest spell of these choices.

Weather permitting, I'll be out all day unable to post.

Whoops, just remembered we should have Sigrlinn and Kell discuss combining spells before trying to speed up the boat... I'll keep my roll, but I'm not sure what Kell will choose to cast along with it.
Also, I hope they have time to cast a second time, because that roll... ouch!
