Dark Lord
Kell glances at Icarus. "Which world of the dead were you in? Our Underworld?"

Penni jumps up and down at Kell's words. After Sigrlinn speaks she says, "I don't know who Niffle-heim is or where Hell is or whose daughter is Lucky, but you! Know! Hearth Magic! How do you do it?"

Icarus replies to Kell's question. "Yeah, definitely yours, if yours as the river Styx and harpies and the ferryman who has all these coins and no way to spend them. He just likes shiny things, I think."

Sigrlinn holds up her hands, trying to stall the conversation so she can catch up. With everyone talking at once it's hard to wrap her mind around everything.

"Hearth magic -- ja, I can do that! I only used Hearthvision to see Brynhild's message, though; I don't know a thing about moving people by hearth. But if Phoebe's head has the knowledge, maybe I can learn how to use it."

Icarus says, "Heph looks heavy. I don't think we should move him anyway. But maybe you can do that hearth magic thing by casting on…"

He doesn't finish the sentence.

Penni asks, "What WILL you cast your hearth magic on?"

Ireth

Sigrlinn throws up her hands. "I don't know, this was your idea! With the Hearthvision I at least had my own body to work off of, but this is all new to me. If we don't want to move Heph, then what are we going to do? If we do move him, do I cast on the hearth, or on Heph himself?"

Icarus says, "Oh! My idea? Uh………… well, I don't think we should use the actual hearth. That'll just go where Mrs. Heph went. And I don't think casting on your body would do anything. Maybe cast the magic on another person, place or thing?"

"Or idea," Penni adds. "Can you cast a spell on an idea?"

((You can try casting on Heph if you want.))

Kell says, "With my magic, what you focus on depends on how the spell is written, but if the hearth isn't what we should cast on, that leaves Heph's body or the knife. Since Aphrodite thinks the knife functioned to move Heph's soul to another realm, that leaves Heph's body, and you probably need to imagine where you want it to go, too."

"Ja, and I don't think we've even discussed where we want to send it. That's kind of important, don't you think?"

Kell says, "That's where Demeter's input would be really useful. The Underworld is reportedly a pretty big place. There's the river Styx and the boatman Charon, the Elysian Fields, Hades' Palace, Cerberus, the waters of Lethe, Mnemosyne, and a bunch of other places I can't remember off the top of my head."

"Then let's wait until Aphrodite gets back before we try anything." Sigrlinn settles down on the floor with her knees curled against her chest and her arms wrapped around them, staring expectantly into the hearth.

Penni says, "I think Kell was right before. You either cast on the body or the knife. I can't think of a third thing."

Nikki tells Penni, "I think the concern is that nobody knows what will happen when the spell is cast."

Dimki says, "Well… we won't find out by talking and waiting."

Penni tells Sigrlinn, "You need encouraging words! Gimme a sec. Loading. Loading. Ah-HA!

"'How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.' So says a brave girl who died young.

"'Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.' Says a guy who wrote an important paper.

"'If you are going through hell, keep going.' Says a guy who says a lot of things in my encouraging words library."

Kell raises an eyebrow at the three tiny metal maidens and says, "With an important thing like restoring a soul, accuracy matters. If we don't specify a location, the spell might drop Heph's body at the gate to Hades, which is basically the front door, and Cerberus might decide to eat it. Plus, it's Sigrilinn's risk to take if she chooses. We don't want her or Heph to experience something r ally bad if the spell goes wrong."

She tells Sigrlinn, "I support you in doing this however you want. You're the one taking the risk."

Icarus says, "I might be mistaken, but Mrs. Heph didn't use hearth magic to move anything. She just opened a gate and went inside. I was expecting the same magic to do the same thing… though I guess the same magic can do different things too."

Sigrlinn looks at Kell and nods. "Exactly." To the maidens she says, "I don't know what I'm doing and I don't want to mess this up, which is why I'm waiting for Aphrodite to get back. If this goes wrong, Heph could be trapped, or I could die, or any number of bad things. I took a risk when fighting Apollo, but I also had the simulator beforehand to help me. With this, I have nothing to go on."

Time passes.

Eventually, Aphrodite returns with Hestia, Artemis, Sapphire and Phœbe. When asked advice, Hestia says, "My magic would likely open up a portal. If the knife indeed leads somewhere, a portal will open. If it's just a magic blade, there won't be a portal. Once the portal is open, you should be able to choose whether or not you'll go inside."

Sigrlinn smiles as she recognizes Hestia -- or "Hess" as they called her. At the goddess's words she nods slowly. "Well, I guess we don't have much choice but to try, do we? Should I see if my -- uh, Phoebe's -- magic can help too?"

Hess says, "Go ahead and try casting."

Phoebe adds, "Just like you did on my head. Or... your head."

"Cast on the knife," says Hess.

Kell assists in taking Phoebe's weight from the goddesses and helps to get her situated with a reasonably good view of the proceedings. "I'd bet that having what to you must seem like a gigantic body to move around in has been an interesting experience. But I hope you are well," she tells the soul in Sigrlinn's body.

"I'm okay," says Phoebe. "And I think Sig's body is okay. It's just me. See?" She moves the left leg. "I couldn't move the leg before."

Sigrlinn approaches the knife again, shivering a little as she touches the handle. She keeps her eyes on it and focuses, hoping her effort will pay off...
