Diana ♥♥♥♥ (enemy damage reduced)
Fenella ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Mariya ♥♥
Pale Jackal ♥♥♥♥♥
Reaver ♥♥ (damage increased)
Shan Mai ♥♥ (grappling power increased)
Vincent ♥♥♥♥ (offense increased)

One of the toadies is struck by lightning. His head smolders, and the water evaporates from his buckets. As the bubbles pop, freeing everyone inside, everyone scrambles to the barrel stacks. All but one look for a hiding place. The exception is PJ, who grabs a barrel and hurls it at the unsinged Toadie.

The Toadie's last words are, "Call the Rainbow Guar—ck!" As two more Toadies join the Rainbow guard, the one struck by the barrel staggers off to one side. A mix of blood, ale and brains soaks his clothes. The dead Toadie pauses as if wondering which way to topple over. As Shan Mai gags on smoke, the charred Toadie whacks him over the head with a bucket. The attack is weak, but it connects. [8]

The leader of the Rainbow Guard says, "There's more than that pink haired guy. What's that green glow over there?" Some frogs and toads look at the stack concealing Reave, but proceed as if nothing is there. [5] None of the frogs make eye-contact with the princess or her muse.

Vincent

I tense as one of the frogmen mentions the green aura around me, and hold my breath as they look in our direction. Can they see me at all?

Diana

I hold still as the frogmen approach, but amazingly they don't seem to see us -- or if they do, they're oddly disinclined to attack. I look at Vincent, knowing he can read my thoughts. Get behind me. It will block your aura, and I can protect you better. Not that I don't think you can handle yourself, but it's probably not a good idea to set off more fireworks in here.

Vincent

I nod slowly, and attempt to move stealthily behind Diana. All the better for me to guard her back while she guards me from the front.

((You can't use stealth when already being observed, and as a mentalist, he'd notice that he's been seen. No need to reroll… use the 20 for anything you want.

EDIT - the mind trick works when observed, but only if the target is in a calm state.

Also worth noting, the guards were called in. They don't have enough movement to reach anyone yet.))

((Oh, whoops. I misunderstood when you said they acted as though nothing was there. Considering that's a VERY good roll, I don't want to waste it... Fireworks might not be wise here. Let's say Vincent picks up a barrel with telekinesis and throws it at the frogmen. If the big group in the back is too far away, he'll aim at the charred one in the front. Do I need to roll again for damage?))

((One roll per turn. 20 = max damage! You're fine. You can aim for any target you want. Hint: the frogs in bold colors—red, yellow, purple—seem stronger than the others, and the stocky toads have thick arms and leathery skin. Only the red one has a shield.

So… which one do you want to kill?))

While my foes are distracted, I attempt to move behind the group of vile frogmen so that I can initiate a surprise attack.

Princess Fenella says, "Well, that WAS exciting! It's very nice to meet you all. What do we do next, and when do we have breakfast?" (Toad in the Hole was always a favourite at the palace.)

Shan Mai whips out his katana and strikes the attacker:

The Katana sinks deeply in the toad, twists the blade and yanks it free looking for any other attackers.

Diana ♥♥♥♥ (enemy damage reduced)
Fenella ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Mariya ♥♥
Pale Jackal ♥♥♥♥♥
Reaver ♥♥♥♥ (damage increased)
Shan Mai ♥♥ (grappling power increased)
Vincent ♥♥♥♥ (offense increased)

Reaver finds a strong target and makes his move. His quickdraw attack splits the toadie's skull open on the second strike. Shan Mai executes a perfect Nuki Uchi technique, halving his opponent with a single overhead strike then sheathing his katana. Some of the frogmen wonder if a blade had actually been drawn. Vincent uses telekinesis to crush the shield bearing guard with a keg of ale, while PJ simply hurls a keg. Little Mariya singes another frogman.

He tries to find the source of the lightning [2], but has a hard time seeing through the smoke rising from his burnt face. Another frog steps beside him trying to figure out who mentioned breakfast, but fails [12] to see Fenella in the smoke. As Diana moves in position, ready to shield her husband, he assumes it was her who spoke.

Fenella and Mariya are still unseen by the enemy, despite everything. I put Fenella on top of the barrels just so she can feasibly hit someone six spaces from her hiding spot. Anyone but the blue guy is in Fenella's reach.

What's left of the Rainbow Guard attacks the samurai.

Reaver easily deflects the weak frogman's attack [6] only to be struck by the stronger one. [17] Shan Mai is pierced by a frog spear [20]. As he manages to pull the blade from his torso, the last of the toadies grabs him. [10] Though badly wounded, the toadie realizes too late that he is outclassed in strength and skill by the samurai…

Vincent

Adrenaline surges through me at the success of my magic. I feel quite confident as I repeat the technique, aiming the next keg at the singed frog dressed in bright purple.

((Not sure what result that would have, but between his adrenaline surge and increased offense, I think it ought to be pretty good!))

Diana

The others are doing very well against their enemies. I remain protectively in front of Vincent, my sword at the ready, should any frog or toad get near enough to strike.

On second thought, Shan Mai looks as though he could use some help. Vincent should be fine; with the way the others are positioned, and the green aura that still surrounds him, it's unlikely he'll be hurt in this fight. I hurry forward, raising my sword to strike at the toad attacking Shan Mai.

((Would have aimed for the one in pink beside it, but I figured Diana couldn't move that far in a single turn, with people and barrels in the way.))

SeverinR

Valar Lord

Shan Mai quickly re-sheathes his Katana and is attacked by another frog, it would seem neither side got the advantage in the grapple, Shan mai weakened from other attacks can't muster enough strength to over power the toad even though some strange force seems to be aiding him.

Noma Galway

Shadow Lord
I sing again, calling yet another burst of lightning to ((I'm going to call it orange...it's the one right by the singed purple one)) strike the orange frog, then apologizes silently to Fenella for not enhancing her sword.

Though Shan Mai is taken by surprise, he is able to force the toadie off of him, despite his self-doubt.

((@Severin, you're free to roll an attack with the katana.))
