I know it can be placed under or inside something to block the effect; anything that blocks light should block darkness too. I just don't know if her side pouch + cloak are enough. If some of the darkness leaked, would we have a half-twilight area? Hahaha!

*ahem* I'll hold my post until we get answers, for Mauve next actions would be influenced by this. ^^'

Baldy still has a leather pouch. Would that work? (When they were talking together, Mauve would have noticed the Darkness Yoyo not working, would likely swear and eventually, Baldy would think to offer her leather pouch. It belonged to the shaman… or Hiljiki, if the shaman's pouch was given away with the spell book. (I think Baldy liked the pouch, and only gave away the book.)

Edit - She has Hiljikki's pouch too, but that has berries in it. Anyway, if Baldy did give away the shaman's pouch with the spell book, Mauve would have that pouch, so… no matter how you look at it, Mauve has the shaman's leather pouch as of now… unless she doesn't need it because her own pouch is leather.

Update tonight. Work again, of course. I'm going to push things ahead at that point, so come up with a final determination of where the sound blast is going and how the darkness will be used, and we'll roll with that

Well… I meant you could ready the action on your attack turn, not necessarily before battle, but… that just means Aliron is very, very ready, even if an enemy charges up the corridor, I guess.

Anyway, nice roll! That might be a one-hit kill, if you hit one of the weaker (green border) lizards.

Hey guys - didn't get the map finished last night. I worked until about 10:30 and was just too tired. Going to move ahead with the action now anyway, and try to finish the map when I get home. I think we'll be OK for one round without it.

I'm going to base my post on the following:

Mauve moves up near the end of the corridor, taking the stone out of her pocket to provide darkness for the group. The hurls the stone to her left, about twenty feet or so based on Nissa's description. I assume she's aiming for the rocky outcropping that the lizards were seen on. Throwing the stone that distance will take the party out of the cover of darkness, and the shields will advance to the group's right, toward the other set of lizards. Melee combatants follow the shields in, ranged combatants and spellcasters stay near the mouth of the corridor, which is well within attack range for spells or arrows directed at the lizards. Mauve feigns casting.

A couple of things:

1) Need a DEX roll from Mauve for throwing the darkness stone (d20+DEX Mod+Level; Prime or non-prime)
2) Are Liadan and Branwen moving up the corridor behind the party as it acts, or hanging further back?

From what Baldhart's been saying in her plan, it sounds like they'll move up behind the others as the action goes on, alongside Keit and Batos. Or am I misunderstanding Baldy's intent? The plan has been tweaked, after all.

That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure you agree with doing it that way and that's where Liadan is going to be. For the time being, Branwen is going to stick by Liadan as told.

Good thing Mauve is that rare wizard with DEX as a prime. (I can't forget her jumping out of the way of her own sound blast with the animated gif as a visual aid!)

She doesn't need to be in the line of fire to help. She can watch them from the safety of the hallway, the angle will be enough to shield her from the most attacks, and run to someone injured if needed. Your call anyway. xD

Dex roll as requested (prime). Not sure if I should post it in the game thread or not, it would feel like rushing the things.

She had no ranged attack originally... Her DEX is like it is for a reason, and wow, it has been really useful! >3

@Ireth, as far as Baldy's concerned, Liadan has a bow, so as long as somebody's watching Branwen, it's all good.

@Nihal, your dex checks never fail. You need a dex-based spell. (Ducks thrown object.)

She didn't use her DEX that much to fail. She failed some dodges already, where her DEX should help. ^^'

Oh, Steerpike, I forgot a thing: After throwing her dark pebble, while chanting gibberish that sounds like sound blast but isn't Mauve will reach for her other pockets and throw those luminescent rocks they gathered from the lake-monster's cave, directly in front of the hallway to help to reveal some moving lizard. Should I roll DEX again for these?

I don't think it will really help to see, but hey, it's something. Also, some dumb lizard might even mistake for a spell's orb, heh.

Well, I think most of her spells, especially for healing, require her to be physically touching the person she casts on. So it really would be best if she stayed close rather than hanging back.

Mauve won't need to make a DEX check if she's just throwing them in the general area in front of the hallway, which is pretty close to where she is standing. She'll have to hold off on doing that, though. The lizards are ready for you guys, so there's going to be a lot going on at the time of the initial throwing of the darkness stone. I've got lunch coming up soon, and I'm tempted to lock my door so I can make the post

I know. I don't mean hanging far away in the corridor, just not entering the cave. This way she'll be covered but close enough to reach most party members in a single run.

True, though she's at level 4 with regards to her magic ability. She'd prefer to heal rather than fight unless it became absolutely necessary, plus she's got a small child to look after, which is further incentive to stay out of the melee.
