I laughed when I saw your roll! Poor Cadell. *hugs*

Don't worry, sooner or later the wave of bad luck goes away.

P.s.: Just noticed I forgot to roll damage. Not sure if I should, or how much it would be. Anyway they'll rest, so I think it wouldn't matter.

Now THAT was a shocker! and that is a realistic possibility for a wolf as well! 23???

*claps my hands over my ears but grins*

Well... too bad they didn't see the two are coming to blows. Rydh wanted to go back to the lake with the boat, and Steerpike's post placed him on the circular room to see the snow, with Darin, so unless you followed you only heard Mauve shouting. Same thing is valid to Algernon.

@Ireth
I agree! ^^'

Same thing is valid to Algernon.

Algernon was heading that way anyway. Originally, I had him walking into the round room, where Darin already was and where Rydh had already placed himself. I changed the details—the only important one being him hooking Rydh with an arm—in the middle of writing my post when I saw others (specifically, Mauve) posting actions. So, yeah, he was there for it, wherever it took place.

P.S. Edited my post slightly so that it would make (more) sense whatever the physical setting was.

I… brace myself between them, my arms outstretched to force them apart. I look left and right at each of them, trying to keep my voice calm.
I broke up ten fist fights last year. This^ is exactly how I broke up about half of them. It's effective, especially the calm-voice part.

...unless one of the fighters wants to hit the other so badly or just doesn't care he/she will hit the person in the middle. >D

@Severin, I don't think there are any more "nice people below", as everyone who isn't already on or near the ledge has left. Except possibly Matthew. Rydh, Mauve, Cadell, Darin and Algernon are all in the other room.

Dang my hearing and being on the ledge, I hear the fight but don't hear everyone walk out on us.
I thought Keit was playing the flute still?

The flute part is correct. She started playing to help keep the kid calm during the climb. Poor Keit is depressed by her own music. Just a little longer Keit! Hang in there!

for everyone's Info: the song is a lullaby that was played to her by her mother before her family was destroyed by the forest fire. Cadell might be able to recognize it as it is a common lullaby, though it holds deep meaning for Keit.

I can't wait for when i can finally get Keit to tell her story. Maybe I'll have to have her keep away from Baldart to avoid having the Barbarian envelop her in a big hug while crying, but that would be cute.

also, if someone could "notice" the pale white scars all over her left hand that would be nice. She did get burned pretty baddly when she was little, and the burns extend up that arm to her back and down her leg as well, though those cannot be seen.

I don't think Cadell is paying attention, otherwise I'd have him comment on it, in his head if nothing else.

On the topic of scars, Cadell has some that are both visible and noteworthy. The main one is the one that circles his throat, where he was nearly strangled; he also has lash marks and other scars along his torso and limbs, though those are hidden by his clothing.

Aliron has scars too, each one a lesson learned,
never trust anyone, never let your guard down, never get careless, and the most recent one,
never let a topless winged woman lull you in with her singing, a scar that everyone will be able to see.
"Severin, You could have said with razor sharp talons ready rip your heart out, oh but I guess that doesn't narrow it down from normal women, now does it?"
Thanks for the input Aliron.

In my post with the wolf jumping up and scaring Aliron, I thought of writing:
"I think I dropped a Dwarf in my trousers. Oh, sorry Darin."

Well, Rysh does have that spiky gauntlet... if they find a way to keep it secure on Cadell's stump, and just curl the fingers manually so it can grasp the rope (and probably get them secured in place as well), Cadell might find a way to climb. Just slide the stump-arm up or down along the rope while climbing, while the other hand works normally. As long as the gauntlet doesn't let go.
Would this allow Cadell to swing a sword without penalty? I mean if he used both hands to swing the sword, so his left hand has a fixed grip and the right can add control.

From training with a katana, I know that (for righties) the right hand grip needs to tighten at a certain point in the swing, and the left hand needs to pull inward at a certain point. I'm thinking of an overhead strike as I type... that doesn't apply to all attacks. Anyway, my question is that, if Cadell is using both hands rather than just his recessive, could he have that extra control over the blade which negates (or halves?) the -2 penalty?

Regardless of the answer to that, another question would be if Cadell can hold a shield with a fixed grip. Then he'd still have the penalty, but he'd be able to form a shield wall and opt to fight (with the -2 to the sword's hit roll). I figure the shield with a gauntlet-fixed-grip is realistic, assuming the shield is also strapped in place.

Third question - kind of a dumb one, but worth asking: does the spiked gauntlet add damage to a Sir Cadell Punch? So he'd have a shield, a normal hit roll, but not as much damage because... it's a punch. (1d4 or 1d3+1... something extra due to spikes?)

To summarize, if the all of above ideas work as I guessed, Cadell has choices:
  1. just a sword; -1 to hit or no penalty, but no shield, so less AC than #2 & #3
  2. sword and shield; -2 to hit penalty to sword, but recessive hand attacks, so less chance to hit than #1 & #3
  3. PUCH and shield; no penalty to hit, but no sword, so less damage than #1 & #2

Good questions, LS, especially the last one. I've been wondering that myself. ^^ I might also wonder if the gauntlet itself, being metal, might have more damage than a normal punch even without the spikes. It's like being hit with a thrown cannonball versus being hit with a thrown apple. Metal > flesh and bone (or fruit pulp).
