They kind of mention this,
but in real life, if a person has a hard name to pronounce people around him/her will shorten it or give them a nickname.
Life is to short to say a ten syllable name with complex sounds.
Hortinathowlowboblintop might be called bob, or Hor, or some totally made up nick name.
Think about his friends trying to call him when drunk, they won't try to hard to say it all.

Although having heard drunk people calling their mates the opposite could be the case.

Yes sometimes simple is easier. Why should the Dark Lord be called Mezarrer or something when his mother might have named him Tim or Jeremy.
