I don't want the new members to think I'm a pretty red-haired girl.

I'm pretty sure that most people will assume I'm a guy with a skull avatar, though the skull is actually a close-up of Baldhart's shoulder. (Not her Dragon's Egg outfit, but for an art project I'm working on for Roll20.net.)

@Philster,

We're trying to work our way out, though politely. Baldhart's hoping Tarlack can give her a note that may prevent needlessly killing goblins (who could end up on our side if we get lucky as we did here). Oh, and she wants to know where the human caravan is, though I suppose we'll just go west by northwest, or whatever way we're headed, and find it with help of a wise tracker or a flying Nissa.

The children are now with us. Nissa took off to get NPCs Dalla and Biron, as well as warm clothes. And Cadell's horse.

Ok by the way that was something I wanted to ask I spent 10 gold at beginning on clothing because it said 1-10 gold on clothing but I still don't understand what the difference between the prices mean.

Baldhart's 5g dress is tailor made and durable. Her 1g dress was torn easily and used to bury the dead.

Just RP stuff, really. Now that Baldhart's a no-armor class, she can afford to care more about clothing. You'd likely rather stick to the 1g stuff and save up for +6 armor (then +7, +8 when that kind of money is available). Steerpike isn't forcing us to discard (or even change) our outfits, so it's not a major concern.

I thought it had to do about quality or quantity. Thanks so basically I wasted ten gold on one set of fancy durable clothing I guess I'll have to fit that in to my background some how.

@SP, how much gold did the kobolds give us? (I think if Baldhart says a number, I'll have her estimate even if I'm given an exact number. She wouldn't have counted it yet, though she is likely the one who has the gold from the chest and the guy she killed via pro-wrestling stunt. She also has the ring with her.)

That's from the dead guys. There was way more gold, but the kobolds nabbed it. That's what Baldhart was doing with Tarlack—very diplomatically convincing him to give the gold.

If you want to read the play-by-post exchange, in which Baldhart foolishly offers half the treasure but fortunately ends up with the whole treasure, here it is…

(My posts are in blue… and Baldhart's a blabbermouth, so I think you can tell by the size of the speech bubbles.)

"Tarlack, you truly are a great leader…" I tell him of Ghendra, who delivered slow, painful deaths to a town full of innocents, just to save his own skin. "…and he was big and strong, and commanded an army that could've taken down a powerful sorceress.

"But not you, Tarlack. You refused. I admire you very much, and I'm glad I made an oath to my goddess on your behalf. We just need to kill the last couple dark elves, and you're free to go.

"There is one thing we should discuss, however."

I mind my manners as Mother taught me.

"The spoils of war. We saved your people, despite their having gone after a girl who is like a sister to me, and now they take the gold and the closest we get to having a share is an offer to buy our wolf.

"Before I suggest diving the gold equally, may I ask if gold is of any use to you? Please forgive the ignorance. I always thought humans, elves and dwarves were the only people who buy stuff with shiny metal.

"Please don't think me like Aslaug and the dark elves for approaching you with this matter. We could use that gold to help feed those children, now that their mother is dead, but I want to be fair to you as well…"

I await Talack's answer as to whether his people have a use for gold. If not, there's no sense in keeping it from us. If so, I will suggest he offer half to us, and I ask if he thinks that is fair.

I still need to discuss the book…
Tarlack straightens his shoulders in pride at Baldhart's compliments. When she mentions Ghendra, he turns and spits onto the stone. "Gnolls bullies. Orc bullies. That why Tarlack leave, take his kobolds."

At the mention of the gold, Tarlack shrugs. "Kobolds not need gold. Sometimes use to make orcs happy if they come close. They leave kobolds alone. Sometimes use for other bullies. Kobolds not care about gold. Kobolds not eat gold." He yips out a laugh. "You take gold. Tarlack want to live here. Make tribe strong. Go north, find more kobolds. Then maybe grow tribe. Have young kobolds. Live where no orcs and no gnolls and no House-lug."

"You take gold. Leave Tarlack's kobolds in peace. Not make us fight. Not tell gnolls and orcs we here."

He looks toward the group in the amphitheater and frowns, then says "What you do with farm children? They no have nest mother. Tarlack's kobolds kill her. Tarlack owe. You take gold, make them safe. Human wagons go up road. Close. Maybe you give humans gold, they take children. If children here, Tarlack make sure they safe until someone get them."
"Oh, I could just hug you!" But instead I kneel before him. "Tarlack, I come from a line of chiefs. From an ancestor of 800 years ago, up to my uncle, my family holds the peak of a mountain in the south. My ancestor is the greatest chief I ever heard of, but you are the greatest I have ever met.

"There is more I want to discuss. You know we were fighting your people until we learned they were bullied into hunting children—then we went after the bullies, of course. If any of your people are injured, Nissa—the winged one—can see to their wounds. I'll move out some of these bodies if you want this room for your people.

"The other thing I want to ask of you is the book. I don't know if any of us can read it, but it may be the key to the knife. I don't know if a knife can trap an immortal soul. I suspect the witch lies, or does not know what a soul truly is. I think she turned the girl's life force into healing energy and her soul is free.

"Once the book has revealed the knife's secret, I mean to destroy it. I don't want a power-hungry witch to get a hold of the book or the knife. Both need to be destroyed, but only when I know the state of the innocent souls."

"We can take care of these materials after the battle is done. And I would very much like to leave you something that may help you remain here in peace. A note. Specifically, a note intend for dwarves should they come this way.

"I have no issue with you and your people remaining here, but I've seen a dwarven temper. One who was with us, but fell in battle… he was a good man, yet irrational when he saw lizards dwelling in dwarven territory. We helped fight them only because they went after Burnbright—the older child we came in with. But now that I've met you, I wonder if they were bullied by Aslaug, too… and if could we have found a peaceful way to deal with them.

"I will bring the children with me. I will not mention you are here, as you asked—and not even to a human I deem trustworthy. If you permit me, I would like to speak of your name and deed: that you chose to be imprisoned rather than take the children. It is admirable and I want to tell my parents of this when I write home. But I will never direct anyone your way, and I will ask that the children do not."
Tarlack is thankful for your words. "If dwarfs come, we leave. Not want to fight dwarfs. Dwarfs crazy. Find other place instead. This place empty long time, so it good for us. We stay as long as we can, not bother anyone. But black elfs find us, so maybe dwarfs find us too."

He thanks Baldhart again, then heads over to the looting kobolds to tell them to hand over everything they've found.

You seemed to bypass one of my questions does your group/team have a name because if a group wants to get bigger or have donator from leaders or something they need a name. Something a bard can sing about in years to come like the knights of the round table(king Arthur), the Blades(skyrim) the companions(skyrim) or the inquisition. A name makes something more solid doesn't the inquisition sound better and easier to say then 'that group of witch burners made of Paladins and clerics'. It makes it easier to get supporters if th group has a name.

Sorry that I started to ramble.
