@SP, I'm assuming Nissa uses water from a waterskin when she cleans Burnbright, and that Burnbright wears the ring so the cold water doesn't bother her. I forgot to add that in my PM.

I have to share SP's play-by-PM bits with my characters. They're too well-written to not share! Maybe I'll wait until both Baldhart and Nissa are finished the PM play and post a compilation.

Well… I'll just show you so you can see this aspect of the game. Sometimes characters who separate from the group will get info that other characters can't possibly know.

Baldhart's private conversation with Tarlack may or may not surprise you, but I'll wait until it's done and the important stuff is known in-game before showing SP's post. I've been posting some of her actions because other characters can see her, even though they can't hear her and Tarlack's words. Your characters, if they look in her direction, might notice that Baldhart is in a very good mood and is being polite to Tarlack (and Skivver when he passes by).

Nissa did have a surprise waiting for her when she got to the kids. There's no harm in showing it, though, since there's nothing your characters can possibly do with this information.

NISSA

Nissa has little trouble finding her way back to the secret tunnel through which the party entered. She flies up through the hole in the ceiling and into the small tunnel, making her way back to where Burnbright and the other two children are waiting. When she rounds the corner, she finds not only Burnbright and the children, but a kobold sitting on the floor between them. Its hands are behind its back, bound with Burnbright's tunic (she still has her coat to keep her warm). One of the kobold's eyes is a bit swollen. Burnbright has a couple of shallow scratches on her cheek.

When she sees Nissa she runs over and the kids get on their feet expectantly. "Nissa! I'm glad you're here. How did the fight go? Did we win?" She looks sheepishly at the bound kobold. "This one came in through the tunnel, same as us. I thought it might be one of the good guys, but we couldn't understand each other and next think I knew it jumped on me and was tryin' to bite me. I tried my best not to hurt it, honest. I don't want the other kobolds to be mad at us now. I just didn't know what else to do!"

Nissa told Burnbright the battle went well, but confessed to the sleep poison rendering her useless. The children knew that someone died, but now Nissa told which child. She's pretty pissed about the death, and seeing that a kobold attacked Burnbright—one who had no way of knowing about the alliance—she put a sword to the creature's throat and gave him hell, verbally. But she was careful so say and repeat Tarlack's name (for emphasis) in case it was all that the kobold would understand.

NISSA

Burnbright tilts her head to the side when Nissa mentions being asleep. "You slept through a battle?" She gives Nissa a dirty-faced grin.

But everyone sobers at the mention of the dead girl. Abbi begins to cry, and Gunnar puts an arm around her. "It's over now. They can't hurt no one else."

The kobold looks chagrined at being captured by children and tied up with a girl's tunic, but the chagrin changes to terror when Nissa produces her knife. It is clear the reptile doesn't understand most of what she says, but it fixes on a single word that it does understand - Tarlack. The kobold looks in the direction Nissa is pointing.

"Tarlack?" it croaks. Then the kobold nods rapidly, using its chin to motion in the same direction Nissa point. "Tarlack!"

Now she's given her sword to the boy, Gunnar, and she's taking the chance that the kobold will cooperate. If not, she's already told Burnbright if the kobold attacks again, she can use her spear.

I predict the kobold will cooperate, but I'll know for certain when SP sends his next PM.

When you said chain short did you mean chainmail?
A chain shirt is basically inferior chainmail. See the image in this post.

Chain shirt = +4 AC
Chainmail = +5 AC

chain short
I know it's a typo, but I was tempted to say that's the male version of the chainmail bikini. Y'know, like boxer shorts made out of chainmail? Okay, so that it's actually a really lame joke delivered real lamely is the other reason I opted for the straight answer.

Okay, and oops I will edit the post after I finish typing this, the reason I asked about if it was chainmail I would want one.
EDIT: I have to say I love the joke you m
made out of my typo.

Play by pm is good when secrets are needed or for scouts.
Sneaky scouts and thieves use them. (Aliron is both.) "You'll always follow the voices from beneath."

You guys are free to share PMs if you like. If they include information other characters don't know yet, people can RP accordingly.

Yeah, I thought Burnbight's victory was too funny to keep to myself, but Nissa probably wouldn't tell about the tunic.

Baldhart is more likely to tell all in-game, so I'll just hold out until then. Seeing how the first part went well, I'm guessing the second part will too. I threw in one more thing Baldy would say that would need a response. Unless the conversation ends up going in a surprisingly negative direction, I'll likely post her next response in the main thread and have her finish the preparations for battle.

Expect an update today. Yesterday proved to be impossible as I got pulled into a case and needed a detailed memorandum done by 9 this morning. I've been at the office since 4:30 AM, which means (I hope) that I'll be able to leave early, at which point I'll update and go to sleep :)

Awesome, SP!

@Ireth, interesting choice of words. I tend to keep Baldhart's character history in the back of my mind, but I actually have detailed thoughts of her family. (More her than characters like Hanako and Addison, from the other MS RPGs.) I won't get into it all now, since if we talk about it out-of-game, it's kind of a drag to bring it up in-game should there be a moment for that kind of interaction.

The short version that doesn't kill potential RP'ing: my justification for Baldhart's charisma as her 3rd prime (despite intelligence being her 3rd-strongest trait) is because of Mother's training.

If they shoot the same target, this might be a very short battle. Well, assuming Baldhart's weaker-than-usual grip is enough.

I figure if Baldy can grab a guy as he opens the door, she doesn't have to worry about an opportunity of attack. I think I'll have her clarify her thought out loud.

Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but I don't recall Bressel having a bow (if it's not one of the little crossbows). Last I knew, he borrowed Cadell's last time he needed one (which was quite a while ago), and then gave it back. Where'd he get the one he's using now?

Very tempting to have Liadan try to see Zoran's aura, but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to one-up Baldy. :/
