FYI, I've moved Zoran and Bressel to arbitrary squares within charging distance for the next round. You can keep your prior rolls if you wish, or of course change your actions for the next round.

@SP, I thought we were allowing full-to-double movement for charging. That's why I told Philster he could charge. (50' to nearest guy; 7 diagonal squares. The guy to his south-west is 60' by my estimate… but he's also dead, so no point charging him.)

Well, let me know your thoughts on how the game is progressing.

As written, you can only go your full move and attack. We were allowing double movement and an attack if you can charge, and in theory I don't have a problem with it. In practice, the game is starting to become unbalanced in favor of melee classes it seems to me (casters are already at a severe disadvantage in the system, and we have tweaked a number of rules in favor of melee classes that sets them above ranged classes and casters (at least for now, though casters will come into much more power as the game goes on)).

It is easy to account for the increased level of power for melee classes. As the DM, I can easily tweak the encounters so that at least some of them present a substantial challenge to the melee classes (monsters with high AC, high Strength, who themselves charge, grapple, etc), but if I do that I think the chances of death to the non-melee characters is going to go up dramatically. Maybe that's an issue and maybe not, depending on how people feel about it.

My main concern is that everyone is having fun, and that we keep a degree of parity among the classes so that all of the players feel like they're contributing, even if they're not all contributing by bashing heads in.

Maybe the extra move for charge isn't really that significant. I don't mind keeping it in place. I just want to avoid a situation where we have total domination by melee classes and ranged players and casters feel like there is no way they can keep up.

All thoughts solicited :)

For now, we'll leave the charge movement. I won't change it, if at all, until people have had their say.

OK, Zoran has his charge. The only way Bressel is still awake is if he can use Primeval Instinct for his save. It's a judgment call, but since it is CON, and since it is a non-magical poison effect, I think he should be able to use it. But powering through the sleep poison is going to take him a couple of seconds and so he's not going to be able to charge all the way to the drow and attack. I've positioned him in position to charge next round.

I'm fine with either way: full for charges or full-to-double.

I was playing Acts I and II, and maybe some or all of III, thinking it was full movement only. I don't know if double movement was a recent rule-change or what. If it was a rule change, and now you see it as a potential problem, then changing it back to what it was is fine. Fighters can always sprint to get within charge range, so it's not like there's an issue of having 3-5 turns of the fighter not being able to do anything.

I guess Baldhart's hit roll is 12, if she's behind. I think even if the enemy is woozy from sleep poison, she still missed (using her remaining stun!), but I rolled damage/stun turns just in case.

Nissa's CON save was way closer than I thought it would be. Not enough (18 non-prime), but I thought maybe she was close enough to have time for a silent prayer.

It may not really be an issue, to be honest. I'm always trying to make sure there is a good PC balance, and part of that will include moving up some things that will help casters and ranged players. No one has complained, I just want to make sure everyone feels like they've got enough to do :)

Well, now that the caster is flying, I think ranged characters will be very busy. With Baldhart unable to reach the enemy, I'll have a bit of fun RP'ing. There's an opportunity for distraction, depending how much more of a beating the remaining drows can take.

Hope I didn't blow it if Cadell was trying to trick the drow. I took SP's post to mean the kobolds are following Masama and Zoran so one of our big/armored guys is the more likely target.

But mostly, Baldhart will say anything that will direct attacks to her (and away from her allies and the children, who are no longer locked up). I hope I'm not going too far with Baldy's combat sense (barbarian skill). I don't know if she'd have noticed the lock-picking, but I figure she may have glanced Keit's way and didn't see cause for alarm with the kobolds near her. I guess she'd more likely have noticed the kobolds behind Masama (while resisting the weakness spell), not Zoran, so I'll edit that thought.

Cadell was just trying to keep our allies from being hurt. I interpreted Steerpike's post as saying the kobolds were about to attack Masama and Zoran, who are both men. (Nobody said they should attack the drow specifically, did they?)

Seems it does not. I just did a search for the word "poison" in the class thread. Only rangers and assassins can find ways to neutralize poison. The paladin can use Divine Heal at level 12.

I also noticed that Lv.2 monks get +1 to saves vs. poison. Just another 5% added to the chance that Baldhart's big mouth won't be silenced when she gets shot in the face with a sleeping dart.

I knew even before I rolled, Aliron's roll would be low. Dice rolls to good previous.

I argued my case for the +, but I'm not sure it would even hit with that extra +2.

Bressel's die roll carries over, so he should hit this time, with a good strong hit.
Darkness was not their friend this time, so I doubt they will go dark again. They took alot of damage and lost a couple in the dark, we only took one hit and that person had to step out of the darkness. Darkness works best if they have an escape.

We should look at every adjustment of the rules from both sides. Because the advantage we get, might also apply to our enemy. What makes it easier to kill our enemy might also make it easier to kill us(or the weaker in our party).

No problem with Bressel's attack, like I said, couldn't tell if he was close enough to attack when the map isn't to scale. Also why most of my posts have them moving towards the targets, because I don't know how far away they are. I figure everything in the arena is within bow shot(100'), but with in sneak attack (30') was questionable.

@Keit:

I meant to post, but didn't, that the ceiling is carved stone, and pretty well intact. It is old, so there are places where there are cracks in the ceiling, and it might be possible to call forth roots from those cracks, though you don't know what effect that will have on the ceiling as a whole.

I have the next two days off thanks to a big snowstorm in the northeast. So if you don't see Baldhart doing Baldharty things like ripping out eyeballs and taunting flying spiders, that means I lost power.

At least I hope that's the reason, as opposed to a sleeping bolt beating the odds.

Be safe up there @LS.

Saw a tweet about it from Patrick Rothfuss today. He said "If snow is heading your way, stock up on bottled water. No one knows what snow is made of, but it's definitely not water."

Tweetie McFunnybird obviously never tried flushing a toilet with snow!

…and come to think of it, I never used water that costs fifty cents a gallon for anything but drinking, so I'm not sure what my point was.

Hmmm, Not sure NY's should consider using snow for water. Prolly isn't sanitary. Might be high in sodium too, the snow is feeding off the ocean.
