They're about seventy feet away. Fifty feet of corridor and twenty to cross the room to the door they're in front of.

Also, it looks like you could approach part way down the corridor quietly, but dark elves are known to see well in the dark so you're not sure how shielded you would be by darkness, and for how long. The sconces could be hurting their darkvision a bit.

Just a reality check for Nissa...

I know she can fly 60' per turn. Is her charge distance greater than that, or does she not get additional charge distance because flying is a movement bonus?

If you don't allow Nissa to charge, I'll have her fly 60' forward so we can all know which card the elf picked before he was kicked in the face.

EDIT - If you DO let her charge, that means she gets there first and shouts "hurry up and pick the @#$% card!"

Haha. That would be quite a trick in itself :) The elves are just outside of Nissa's range for charging. They're within Batos' range, though because wolves have a fairly high movement rate.

Okay, I'm fine with that. There was actually a battle where Nissa charged, but despite the precedent, I had to ask myself "is that really fair? Nissa can move UP." A 120' charge is really too much, so yeah, I actually prefer her being limited to her flight movement for charges as well.

She can charge on the ground as well, but she'd have to move a little further down the hallway first in order to be in on-foot charging distance of the elves.

On foot, 21-40' is her (halfling) charge range, right?

EDIT - My Nissa post basically means she gets herself out of the way, then moves forward. Anything in the 30'-60' range is fine for her. If others charge besides the two monks, she'll move closer to 60'... maybe it would be 50' max since she pauses to let others act.

Aliron's roll was disappointing.

Brussel's was great.

Would have prefered waiting one round for an aimed shot, but the charging monk will prevent them from fleeing.
Also it will show the kobolds we aren't messing around with the elves.

Good roll, but I think Bressel's out of charge range. It's 60' for most characters, but Baldhart can charge 70' and I think Masama can charge 80'. The elves are 70' away, so Baldhart barely makes it with her monk movement bonus.

I'm sure if Bressel can't reach, the roll can apply to one turn later, and if that's the case you do need to charge to get there in two moves instead of three. The AC penalty won't matter since I think Baldy and Masama will be the ones attacked by elves. Unless she hits, and the knockback topples them so they can't attack. She had good rolls in terms of power (damage & STR check) but not the aim. I'd expect elves to have at least a 12 AC, and I'm not ruling out 14 AC as a possibility.

At least I'm feeling lucky about Baldy's position in relation to arrows. Baldy is on the opposite side of the hall as Alin (who missed). Cadell's opposite Alin. (21 = safely past Baldy!) And Liadan is opposite Cadell (and she missed). I don't think the misses will create a friendly-fire issue for Baldhart.

And if they do, well... that's one way to test her necklace. (I have no idea how much AC she has vs. arrows!)

I was thinking that too. If they heard us move close, they could start opening the door. Now if they try to flee, I think Baldy (and Masama, if he charged with her) would get free attacks. At least I think they would, since it seems difficult to do a fighting disengagement if you have to open a door.

The other thing I hope to avoid is that pesky darkness spell, which I guess takes 2 turns to cast, but if we're spotted, the elves get initiative. The room with lots of them should be interesting. I think Baldhart will go for choke holds, so if the lights go out she can at least finish off whoever she's fighting at the time.

If Tarlack keeps his spear pointed straight ahead above Batos's head and the lights go out, Batos could try and scent out the enemy then charge them/impale them.

Batos might wonder why Tarlack's battlecry is "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" followed by the sound of several snapping twigs.

Batos will prove to be quite a valuable ally (I mean... he already is, and really kicked butt when he nearly died taking out the sea-monster-rider!) if the lights go out. Hopefully, the arrows will hit their marks. This fight, we can afford a few screw-ups... though preferably the kinds that don't get us hurt.

DeviantArt has a new logo. For those of you who post art on DA, you may or may not be aware of this. There's a really long explanation of the new logo, including its 62˚ angle and the exact shade of green. Some members are complaining about the logo, and others are drawing it.

Thanks to Baldhart and Nissa, I can do both. While I doubt you'll appreciate the DA reference, I thought you might think Baldhart looks pretty funny in a bra made of orc skulls.

Heads up for everyone -- I'm going on pre-Christmas vacation to Knoxville again, much like last year. I'm staying two weeks this time (Dec. 9th-23rd), and while I'll have a laptop with me (thanks Steerpike!), chances are the wifi will still be kinda spotty, so posting might not be frequent. And that's assuming I can figure out how Linux works, too.
