I'm sorry about my disappearance, I've got some intense work going on these two weeks, and I'm inspired enough to keep frantically studying and working on my own stuff in the rest of the time. I'll try to catch up later today, but no need to wait for me if it's the case, I don't want to disrupt the game.

Thanks, Nihal. I just logged on a moment ago to PM you and ask if you were OK, but now I see there is no need. Heading off to update the game thread now.

I just relized that if the dark elves try the "blackout" trick again Batos can just as easily attack them by using his other senses to find them. A wolf hunts using its sense of smell and hearing more than sight lol

I guess everyone elses weekends are pretty busy too. This is the first chance to check since I posted last Friday.

Steerpike: Should Aliron switch to side trek for "exploring the stream"?

Usually I'm around at least a bit on the weekend. This weekend I was limited mostly to being online via phone, and I can't really update the threads on my phone. It's too hard to make lengthy posts.

I'll update today. Anyone who is exploring the stream, go ahead and post in the side trek if you want, or I'll make the post when I update.

I'm going through the thread now. Things didn't exactly slow down when I thought they would, but I'm trying to manage. (I even received a proposal to do 50 paintings lately, it's a new—frightening—record!)

That's awesome! Congrats!

Thanks! Such offers are a bit daunting, actually. I've been specializing in carefully crafting colors and mood and such to create the best piece I can for the required commission, and the companies I've been preparing myself to work with would commission ~2 (dashing and uber-worked) artworks per month. Quantity over quality sits all way across the spectrum.

That is wonderful news, Nihal. Congratulations to you.

I suck at updating - it has been one of those weeks. But I now have 20 minutes before a meeting, so I'm going to grab some caffeine and get to it.

Edited my post to reflect SP's post that puts Alin back on the main thread, and tried to do that in a way that responds to Bressel's suggestion. (I read and respond to Act IV before reading the Side Trek thread.)

Regarding potential treasure or whatever's underwater (that my character doesn't know of)…

There's the part of me that says "Ooh! Ooh! I can do CON checks and swim with the anti-cold ring!"

And then there's the part of me that says "Child-killing elves need to die before Baldy goes swimming in her undies (again. And awakens a hostile water creature… again.)"

I'm assuming from the Mauve post that Skivver's moving. If I'm mistaken, Baldy's trying to encourage Skivver to keep moving forward if he's not already, if so, she's vocalizing a degree of trust in his words in the hope of encouraging him to keep the party moving.

Let's see if Baldy's 4 in WIS didn't get her in a trap. If it did, let's see how that 18 in CON pays off. (*gulp*)

I just posted her "throw caution to the wind" attitude about moving forward, then saw her being warned about a trap. Acknowledging it then immediately going in the hole... I couldn't resist.

"Mauve has a way with reptiles, let her go first. Maybe its the eye or something."
I thought about naming names

"Mauve has a way with reptiles, Skiver and Ankari, let her go first. Maybe its the eye or something."

Or you can sum it up with "Mauve has a way with murderous creatures, let her go first. Maybe its the eye or something.". :)

Speaking of murderous, can the same lock be attempted twice (though, understandably, the re-roll means more time is taken), or do we need to hunt down and kill the guy with the key to open other cells?

I mostly ask out of curiosity. I might hold out until the GM post before having Nissa post, since her next action depends if the door opens. It also depends on where the enemy is in relation to the prisoners.

The obvious assumption is that the enemy is at our backs, and they need to get past us to reach those in lock-up. If the cells were originally built (by the dwarves) as prison cells (or even as storage rooms, I suppose), there'd be one door per cell. Is that fairy clear from our characters' POVs?

The less obvious thought (which may just be me over-thinking) is that the cells were not designed as prisons, but as security doors, so you'd need gatekeepers on both sides to access other parts of the tunnels. I don't know if dwarves had different factions and/or were territorial.

(I suppose Nissa could just check for that.)

I think there is 2 doors on the side, and one door at the end.
Two prison cells and an unknown door at the end. Does the end door also have a window?

Bressel remains at the back of the party watching for anyone following. (noisy armor might attract attention at the unknown door.)
