eeeeee! one of our cats just had a litter of kittens yesterday! Three little ones -one a mostly white calico, one black and white with a diamond on its back, and another mostly white but orange one.

When I was 17, I witnessed my cat giving birth. I assisted with the first (by holding the box under her as she stood on the top cellar step with a paw hanging out of her)! My cat at the time came to our home only three weeks before she gave birth. We were eating outside and fed her chicken, so the stray barn cat decided she'd rather be a house cat. We had her for a week before we realized we had not one, but FIVE cats. (Yes, we knew there were four. Two distinct lumps on each side--we were very gentle, so she allowed us to feel the unborn kittens.)
Enjoy them. I know it's not hard on the mother when you give them away in front of her, though before the first one was taken, I feared my mommy cat would freak. We gave them away at the age of 8-12 weeks.
I also witnessed/assisted the births of my three daughters, but despite that being much more significant, I have fond memories of the kittens and witnessing birth for the first time: May 2, 1990--I still remember the date!

I don't remember the date I carried a baby cow up a flight of stairs, but I remember I was 15 and weighed barely over 100 pounds. The baby cow was the same weight as I was, or maybe a little heavier. I also remember that I had to be hosed down... being covered in shit is hard to forget.

haha yes, baby animals are amazing. I grew up on a dairy, so i've seen birth multiple times (even a cow getting a c-section once!) we've been expecting a new litter for this spring, and am not too surprised that it was Violet.
*embarassed* okay people you may think im weird but i've raised a whole family of cats since i was seven, adding up to around eight generations (not litters!) of cats. I keep track of them through the females, though once we had two sisters give birth not three days apart with five kittens each! Lol, i remember the first litter we ever had was when an abandoned cat on our dairy (we took her in and our current tom cat took a liking to her instantly) she was sleeping on my brother's blanket, and then she started yowling. The moment i saw red i snatched her up and brought her to the laundry room, then helped her have seven kittens. We've never had that many from one cat since but my gosh Diamond and Tiger were such a sweet pair. They took turns keeping the kittens warm in a pile of old towels that they'd made their next out of!
You might say im beyond experienced with cats, but each one is different, especially when you end up with some abandoned and having to get them adopted by one of our current nursing females, all the way to sending a brother cat to defend his sibling from two mean toms that we later found out were rabid! (I still don't know how those two came out clean after the owner shot the two toms, and they looked just like Sonic!)
Also, side note, what's funny is we never end up giving them away. We live on such a large property that some of the adults just get good at hunting and wander off.
(note: this does not include cows, goats, sheep, horses, dogs, parakeets, lizards, frogs, fish, or other exotic animals we may have taken in over the years)

Hi all. I've been out of town with my daughter, who has been in hospital since going to the ER Tuesday night. She was in pretty bad shape due to a serious kidney infection but seems to be doing much better as of this morning. They are telling her she needs to remain here for IV antibiotics at least through today and possibly tomorrow. I'll be back online ASAP. Been a crazy few weeks I can tell you that.
Poor girl! I'm glad to hear she's recovering now.

Just wanted to share the Easter bonus for Flat Earth. There are 19 possible bonuses for each character, each named after a PC from this game. Yes, we've had 19 PCs—counting the two horses.
The bonuses give a Flat Earth character a skill that combines his/her ability with an ability from whatever DE character is rolled. At least, that's how it's worked so far. If a pixie rolls Baldhart or someone rolls a horse… no time to think on that. Game of Thrones in 3 minutes!

Hey guys - I'm back in town and at work as of this morning. Need to get caught up on office stuff, then I'll update. They let my daughter out of the hospital after four days, and she looks to be out of the woods (though they say it will be perhaps a week before she's completely recovered). Scary how fast it went from a regular UTI to a severe kidney infection. This sort of thing can hit very quickly.
Good to hear your daughter is on the road to recovery!
