Baldhart can stand her ground without anger, and often does. She was harsh on Mauve and that was anger which she had actually held back because of her vow (whenever Mauve lashed out at her and she just took it or walked away). I imagined that she was conflicted, both wanting her friendship with Mauve back but also enjoying the freedom of being able to show her emotion as she's not tied to a vow. The same happened when Cadell revealed he told the gnolls of Baldy's plan, though she wasn't as harsh on him as she was genuinely shocked by his action. She was also more easily forgiving because she could see Cadell and Liadan wanted to put that ugliness behind them, where with Mauve she sees the damage to the friendship as permanent.

Nissa actually hates this vow about not showing anger (and contemplated talking her out of making it a vow, but didn't since she knew Baldy questioned whether Nissa was real or imaginary at that time--though Baldy tried to hide that doubt). She especially hated it during the sometimes abusive friendship with Mauve. Nissa didn't like a vow made on her behalf either, but being 800 years old and working for a goddess, she knows not to sweat the small stuff.

Actually, Nissa also can't stand how 'star-struck' Baldy is with Gisla, but doesn't say anything to Baldy. But again... small stuff. Not sweating it.

Actually, she was trying to hide from them, but kept failing in her spells and the flash of light gave her away. She hurt herself in the process, indeed. In the end she was cornered in the cellar and tried to kick a barrel on Rydh. Naturally, the kick was good but she somehow failed and ended with her foot stuck. :D

*wink wink*

You were successful but the barrel was rotten.

Weird even after this statement, not much changed. :)

Hopefully, Gisla is comprehensible.

She was raised in the north and has a strong sense of personal honor shaped by northern traditions, even though her views aren't necessarily required in someone who serves Brynhild. She was also on the wrong end of some betrayals in the south, and that has further shaped her views.

But primarily, she considers herself the protector of Arendal. If she thinks she can save the village by killing every gnoll, she will. If she thinks she can save it by sitting town and having tea and biscuits with the gnolls, she'll do that.

Well right afterwords everyone noted that last part was impossible. If the whole group united on anything then the world would end.

Tea and kibble more likely. :Q

Aliron sees the Gnolls approaching and spins pointing suddenly
"Squirrel!" Falls down laughing as half the force jumps towards the woods.

-You realize how different time passes for us vs our characters. Seriously, I was gone half a year and the time that's passed is . . . less than two days! How is that possible?

Yes, how is that possible indeed???

tricky tipsy

I like how you've written Gisla.

Nissa's mild annoyance with Baldhart's fangirliness is more about how my two characters differ. Nissa would agree that Gisla is a fine example of a Brynhild follower.

OK, not everyone has acted since the last update. I've extended the period a bit, since I'm the one who slowed it down last week, but I'm going to update in just a while so if you have yet to act, get in there :)

Hey guys, Sparkie checking in again. I wanted to share a little something from a PBP campaign I'm in on another site. I'm not saying Steerpike should do this, but it's food for thought:

I know all you guys have some creativity to add to Dragons Egg. Do you guys think you're up to the challenge of trying something like this?

P.S. Try and guess which one is my character ;)

I have a new job!

…so it's likely that in a couple weeks you'll stop seeing daytime posts from me. I want to keep my new job MS-free, since I'll have more free time at home.

Thanks, Sparkie. I think I'll savor the next couple weeks as "guy who's soon leaving." I got along well with my new boss during the interview. We spoke for 75 minutes, and he called me about 15-20 minutes later. I was still driving home from the interview when I got the offer!

No mention of Mauve on the latest update? Shouldn't her jump have some effect on the others, be they fishies or people? I would think it might serve as a momentary distraction, at the very least. Just saying, since I want to know how the splash would affect Liadan and Batos (if at all) before I cast the healing spell. Don't want Liadan flinching in surprise and letting him go!

I'm PMing Nihal. Others are occupied enough that they probably wouldn't have seen her jump from where she was. Anyone who did see her saw her disappear below the surface, and she hasn't come up.

The spell will stabilize Batos. He probably won't regain consciousness - you'd have to heal him for 10 points at least, for that to happen.
