And I suppose that means Cadell thinks that.

Baldy didn't lie to him, though. The letter has a message for Ankari to pass to Ghendra. It would be funny if Ghendra ended up with the letter, since it's written on the back of her diagram whick clearly displays a winged lady (who Ghendra might recognize as 'Sinda').

Yes. Cadell can't know what I don't know, so anything he does in ignorance is because *I* was ignorant of the said thing. That explains some of his previous actions, actually... can't think of any right now, but yeah. ._.;;

I could say the same for other characters. Jerk-ness is relative.

Yup.

Feel free to call Mauve a jerk, psycho and more anytime. She really is.

P.s.: Actually, he can know as long it's consistent with the story and with the character. You, the player, doesn't matter, you're not the character.

But if I'm not aware of something, how can I make it known that he's aware of it when I'm typing up his posts? Example: if Ankari is doing something in a play-by-PM with Steerpike, and I don't know what's going on there, how can I have Cadell comment on it?

I think the exception on your character knowing what YOU don't is when you misread a post. If you go back and retread what Baldy told Cadell, and say, oh... She DID clearly tell Cadell who the letter's for (or maybe she didn't, but Cadell heard Keit mention it's going to Ankari?), then you could have Cadell not share your prior misunderstanding.

Of course, your character can't know more than you when you post his reaction!

I honestly don't know how clear Baldy was. In the Spear, she tried not to say Ankari's name, even though she knows Gisla's aware Ankari is an informant and that Nissa told her Baldy should learn what Ankari knows. Baldhart doesn't think Gisla will remain calm at the mention of his name, and she's trying not to make the division among allies get any worse.

Good point. I'll have to reread those posts more carefully. :)

EDIT: After rereading those posts, I realize Cadell is still ignorant of where Batos' letter is going. He was still asleep when Keit told Batos to take it to Ankari, and Liadan was not in a position to hear her or tell Cadell about it later; Baldhart also gave no indication that the message was going to Ankari and then Ghendra. Ghendra was the only one she spoke of at all.

The game is limited by: 1. Your character's knowledge. 2. Your character's personality.

If Cadell isn't present on this play by pm he shouldn't know what happened. Ideally, you shouldn't either, except as a reader—not a player. Sometimes, it can happen that your character knows more than you. Those situations aren't common.

E.G.: A character has a map and studied it for a while but the player didn't see the map of the region yet. You play him as if he knew the region and when the need arises you ask about it off-game. If someone gives wrong directions to a town he would know it was an error/lie even if you don't.

Not that all mistakes by a player's part should be corrected, if they're not blatantly out-of-the-character they can be left as is, for they give some realism and flavour.

Also, some characters are more/less prone to certain misunderstandings. E.g.: Mauve is terrified of being burnt alive. Toasting a hag(fish) would have a whole different meaning for her.

I'll take you up on the 'and more' offer.

Your character's limitations can be overcome by drinking Vytautas Mineral Water (it's Earth's Juice):

Oh, that's NSFW (can't even embed it because of the main image).

I'll be leaving work in a few hours. No lunch today but when I get home I'll update, answer PMs, and so on.

Only kidding. I didn't really play it in front of the kids. The joke was pretending I didn't know what NSFW stood for, though I'll admit it was once the 00s, and at that time I had no idea what the LOL, BTW, G2G and BRB were supposed to mean.

(And I also don't know how to say 'the 00s.' The zeroes? Hell, I still call the year two thousand thirteen.)

EDIT - It wasn't BRB, it was BRU. Be Right Up. I was at a friend's house playing Diablo II, and me and another friend used the upstairs computers. When we needed to plan an attack, he'd come upstairs.

Or was it that he came upstairs to complain when my amazon's lightning javelins got the rest of the party killed? No… I think he just yelled at me from downstairs for that.

Maybe it's better than bossing people like a fool.

Oh, but my 3 year old vomiting on my wife, if that's what the super-ouch was about… THAT really happened a couple hours ago.

Well that would explain why this guy I know at work is sent outside to sleep in the backyard when he visits family in New York...course being a dude raises questions, but he's turd anyway so I don't think it matters.

Oh he is a foul excuse of humanity. Chews with his mouth open, and somehow he thinks that being trained in dental hygiene makes him an expert at everything (and I mean everything).
