Hey sp, What was the price for aldars staff with the mechanism? Thats great it's been going at a fairly slow pace, I have been swamped as well the last few days with work.
Thanks :)

I liked Lifeblood. I listened to the version with the beat. Great choice, since it mentions those Norse gods.

If Darin were alive, he'd complain about humans equating Odin with the All-Father (though I'm not sure if that's actually implied by the lyrics).

EDIT - The answer to the question posed on Bladhart's STR check is "no."

No he's not in Baldhart's room anymore. Grim said earlier that he was up to something strange and there were mutterings coming from him, but he didn't want to disturb him. As it happens, Masama has his own room and he's in there, presumably with Branwen. I can't have him up in Baldhart's room because a lot has been happening in that room, and it wouldn't make sense for everyone to be up there and not notice Masama and Branwen. I'm sure everyone's fine though. No cause for alarm.

Oh... crap?

Hahaha, okay.

Edit: Oh, god... oh god... Did someone jinx Mauve again? This one is of the evil kind of jinx!

Oh… Baldhart expected he'd still be in her room when she got back. I was going to have her tell him she's going down to eat and ask if he'd like her to bring something right away, but thought my posts are long enough without adding those extra bits.

Since he's not there, any chance we can say Baldy knocked on his door to check on him and Branwen?

^Thank you! I intended to look for Branwen after detecting magic but Mauve is busy having a seizure. (not, for all I know corruption episodes don't give you seizures)

@SP
I think I asked it once and someone else answered; or I didn't ask exactly this; or I just didn't take note. Usually I fail both, so, it doesn't matter, but... After rolling a successful runaway save do you still need to roll a corruption save? So far, I've been assuming you do.

But I've been re-reading the magic thread and way before corruption is mentioned:

"If the caster's save to control runaway magic is successful, there are no other negative consequences."

'Other'? That means she didn't get +1 point now?

Obs: Detect Magic is a ridiculous lvl 0 spell. Way to go!

P.s.: I just noticed that the original casting was a natural 1. Which ill effects this would have in this case?

Nihal:

No, the "other" just means as a result of the runaway magic. The corruption isn't caused by the runaway magic, they're just two separate effects. But I think it might be a good idea to say there is no corruption from level zero spells going forward. What do you think?

LS:

I think I'm guilty of just making my hints too subtle :) Initially I was going to have Masama and Branwen in Baldhart's room, but when everyone went back there without any response to Grim's statement, it didn't make sense anymore to have Masama and Branwen in there. I don't want to confuse the timeline too much more, since we've already been a bit jumbled in town with the shopping sprees. Probably easier to just say Masama got his own room while you guys were shopping, and you've now realized it. Don't worry, Branwen isn't dead or anything. It's more a matter of me keeping the narrative as straight as possible.

We could have additional effects for a critical failure of this type, but I feel like the magic system already has enough penalty associated with it without creating a new one.

Thanks, that's what I thought.

You got me lost with this question. Are you suggesting that from now, if someone fails a level 0 spells no corruption happens? Well, after my beautiful demonstration of how things could go wrong for the most ridiculous reasons, yes, it would be welcome, haha.

I can't imagine why you feel like this. :x

Hmm… I foresee Mauve using Magic Hands a lot. Not because of that Lv.0 rule, but I assume that's what the chain-spear is for. The Lv.0 rule will just make it less scary.

I meant from now, and including this time, no corruption from level zero spells. Mauve is gaining corruption a bit faster than I anticipated. At the rate she's going, it won't be long before her runaway magic causes effects that the party can't survive, and I want things to scale better than that :)

@Ankari -- I'm curious, did you miss the post where Cadell greeted your character, or is Ankari being his usual grumpy self and ignoring him on purpose?

Nope. :3

Unfortunately it's for a lvl 1 spell, but it's better than the lvl 2 and 3 spells she has been using lately. I had this idea from the start, but the character never have bothered to try it, so I gave her some time to figure this out.

Yeah, I know... Sorry, it wasn't my intention to kill the other players this way. ^^'
You never had an unlucky player like me, uh? At least I've been getting some spells right. Thank you, feline overlord!

Oh, that means 2 things: She'll try again. It's her nature to keep trying until she passes out, run out of mana or get corrupted, heh.
Can some nice mod remove the "But something is wrong. " and the roll?

Nope. Blame that on the infrequency of my posts. Sorry about that. I forgot.

I'll be kinda nice and just move it.

HERE!

Mauve from an alternate universe where she's slightly more corrupted said:
But something is wrong.

((It's the fifth. I've not been failing too much lately, but when I fail it goes straight to hell!

Baldhart: Mauve, is that a tail? I thought you said you didn't get one today!))
What can I say? I like the 'tail' part.
