Well, if it's temple Gefjon, Baldy ain't buying anything. I realized 'Gefjon' was no typo, but my wife needed the computer, so I couldn't edit immediately.

Let's just say the painting of Gefjon snapped her out of wasting her money. (Almost had her walk away in my first post.)

EDIT - I realize the problem was MY typo. I misquoted the NPC. The said 'the goddess' not 'Brynhild.' So he probably wasn't trying to con her but simply misunderstood her. I edited my typing of the NPC's pitch for accuracy, then responded appropriately, figuring Baldy wouldn't actually pay for the silver if they're not symbols of Brynhild. (The likeness may have fooled her without Nissa.)

Well, so am I. In the PM, the goddess' name never came up from the shopkeeper's POV. (In my post, I tried quoting from memory, but DID use Brynhild's name—hence my confusion.) But once it was obvious it was Gefjon (and not an inaccurate likeness), it didn't make sense Baldy would go through with it. I posted then realized what I had my character agreeing to, and hoped I'd get my computer back before a GM post sealed the deal.

I deleted the post last night, but used my mod powers to undelete and have Nissa get Baldy out of doing something more foolish than usual. I figure she'd actually see the silver symbols before forking over money and would notice the symbols stand for agriculture and fertility, not battle. If all she saw was the likeness and didn't ask Nissa, that could have been big bucks misspent. Baldy has no idea what other gods look like, and even thinking the goddess looked wrong could have been taken to mean that well-meaning craftsmen have no idea what she looks like and just guessed.

Does Baldy know how to use her allure?

No.

Tried my hand at making a Baldhart doll, despite the limitations of the dollmaker. I wound up being only satisfied with her head, so that's all you get. XD They just don't have dress shapes that suit her look, cuz all the ones with slit skirts show off the ridiculous undies that you can't remove. :/ But I got her hair (mostly) right! Yay!

EDIT: +5 rep to Nihal for the successful CHA check. Even I get nervous about using those, and I have a 50% chance of rolling teens/twenties; 75% with Nissa.

Sometimes I try (and always fail) resulting in creepy smiles, badly hidden intentions and such, haha! It was about time one worked. D:

I wonder if it has something to do with this attempt being a seduction one.

Do the trinkets at the temple that baldhart is looking at give any sort of "bonus" towards religious activities? Perhaps being seen in the eyes of your god or something along the lines? Or are they merely for show?
And mauve, I had to laugh when I saw you trying to entice the blacksmith with crooked teeth :D

For show is my guess, though I would've bought the very-high-quality ones had they been the right Goddess, just to see. I really don't think it'll do anything though. Baldhart has her own personal valkyrie so I don't see how Brynhild could top that.

Had I thought of it up-front, I'd have spent 1G to start with a holy symbol. I like that Baldhart is splurging a bit though. Father Harald (R.I.P.) funded the party earlier and Baldy got to spend a good chunk of it, so I can't complain about money anyway.

I don't see them needing to spend money soon besides resupplying—what they are already doing. We should also count on being able to net something along the way. The haggle on Mauve's part is just for fun.

@Something
If your character still worships that evil deity... think twice before asking someone if they sell symbols etc of her, or even about announcing your deity in first place. Just saying, hah.

Fair point. As I said, I was intending on getting my boon no matter what, And yes mauve i thought of that :p I must be starting to get the hang of it now, As I actually thought, Hmm hang on a second, And decided if I was going to ask I would go with something along the lines of " So what gods do you have symbols of?" or something that would not give away my deity obviously.

Typically, such items are not going to be magical. It is always possible that a magic item made its way into a temple or shop's selection without the owner knowing it. There would be no way to tell for sure outside of a detect magic spell.

I see. And that's why you should be extra careful: Your character has a clear objective in mind and he has enough intelligence and wisdom to know that asking direct questions about an evil deity to a godly woman of a town of highly superstitious people would be in fact a hindrance, keeping your character from attaining his objective because he would end kinda... dead.

Yes, it's wiser to ask which tokens she has, maybe don't buy it anyway for, adding to the "enchanted" slip, it now presents a risk to your character's objective.

Also, I'm not Mauve. Remember, she's the character I play, but I, the player, go by the name of Nihal in this forum.

Yes I know, Sorry. just getting the names confused. Yes that "enchantment" slip was what i was referring too.

Im sorry i didnt understand your second last paragraph there. Anyway I think I avoided that fairly well :)
Thanks anyway :)

The second paragraph about not buying anyway? It's an advice to do as you told and ask which tokens of which she has and not buy one of your deity anyway.

Given the type of town the probability of she having one of your deity is low; of she having one of your deity that is also enchanted, lower; and anyway buying it, if the enchanted-but-probably-not token exists, is risky. It could be a trap (unlikely) or this fact might surface in case someone decides to investigate the group members. Since the group protects Branwen, an "evil demon", and your character's reputation was already damaged by his slip... It won't look good for your character.

There is also the aggravating fact that most wizards, if not all, carry an spellbook. If your character didn't prepare beforehand for the possibility of being caught a simple search through his belongings will ruin him. Evidence of arcane magic manipulation + association with "demons" + evil deity worshipping = free ticket to a purification ritual.

On the topic of holy symbols: Líadan carries a unicorn pendant for Oercus. Would it count double if, say, the unicorn's eye was a teeny-tiny white topaz? I dunno if it would have any in-game effect, I'm just curious. I suppose her topaz-enhanced bow might work similarly, since bows are a symbol of Oercus as well.

I wonder what she would do if a man with crooked teeth and a stinky mouth leaned closer to suggest what he suggested after looking down her shirt.
She'd contemplate turning him into a man with no teeth and a bloody mouth.

And casting detect magic in a shop would set off major red flags and might end in death unless done very descretely.

LS maybe Baldhart should ask for a Holy symbol for Loki made of silver? :)

Went to Outdoorsmen club for archery shoot. Was handed a crossbow and hit 3-10 pointers, and 1 8, and three shots went low. (38pts outof 70)
When I got the range right I hit 10's. When I didn't I hit the dirt. Shooting at animal targets at various ranges. (The eight was close to 10.)

Loki followers don't do silver.

Just to be clear the targets were not live.
