Ops, sorry, I wasn't clear! I meant Calexa, the witch, not LÃadan. Mauve has no motives to believe LÃadan knows anything useful—aka arcane magic—for she doesn't know LÃadan bound the demon yet.

Ah, okay! I was just worried Liadan would have to deal with Mauve rifling through her stuff at some point. ^^; Glad that's clear now! Plus, Liadan doesn't really "know" arcane magic, she just repeated what the demon told her to say.

What, exactly, does Ankari think Liadan can do to heal a corpse? And what does the Fae Gate have to do with it? Does he want to throw Darin through to the elves? Or maybe he wants Liadan to go back through and ask for help... yeah, that'll go over well. *sarcasm*
Well, first Ankari doesn't know what you can or can't do with your healing.
Second, he can travel back through the gates and try to find someone to resurrect him.

You'll have to ask Steerpike if resurrection's even possible. In any case, I don't know if the elves of either wood will be much welcoming to Ankari. Cadell did warn everyone against going to either place for fear of being harmed.

Steer, I'm curious about how cooperative checks might work -- i.e. two or more people combining their rolls to achieve a certain goal, like lifting poor Darin. If Matthew were to go and held Cadell and Liadan, and his roll plus theirs added up to 18 or above (since I don't think any of them have STR as prime), would that work to get Darin's body off the ground?

Oh...I meant to say. For something like carrying a body, you don't need a strength check if you've got two people there doing it. Sure, the dwarf is heavy, but we can assume that two adults trying to move him are going to be able to do it, even if slowly. If he were a giant or something and you wanted to pull him, I'd go with a check. But just because you're using strength doesn't mean you always need a check. Things that a person or group of people could reasonable do can just be done without one
As for resurrection - it is possible. It is extremely rare. To cast the spell, you have to sacrifice a sentient creature to take the place of the soul that is being retrieved from beyond death. There are rumors of old magics that will allow it to be done without that, but those are speculative and there is some question as to whether anyone is powerful enough to cast it.

Yeah, sorry. If you want to just pick up after Cadell's post, you can assume that once Cadell is helping, they carry him.

Well, I wanted Matthew to help, which is why I asked about the joint checks. Just because he isn't doing much of anything right now, and I want him to be useful.
Speaking of Matthew, has anyone seen Phietadix lately? I'm happy to continue modding Matthew for a while, but if his player doesn't want to keep playing or won't have the time for an indefinite period, it might be best to give him an excuse to leave, when/if I have permission. Though I'm not sure what that reason might be.

I haven't heard from him. But since you guys are wrapping up in the tunnels and heading elsewhere, presumably, it would be a logical place for Matthew to separate from the party if he intends to.
