Dark Lord
Well, this is a hard thing to say, but I suppose we all saw it coming. My last post with Rydh will be put up tonight.
Before anyone makes any assumptions, I'll preface this by saying that this is a matter of RP. I'm not having Rydh leave because of any personal vendetta or hurt feeling on my part. Basically, it comes down to this: There's no way I can justify Rydh staying on after the recent in-game events that have transpired. I don't think there's anything he or any other party member can do to stop this eventuality.
There is a line of logic he's using here. I won't use a lot of detail to describe it, but I'll try to sum it up. First, to understand why he's doing this you may want to read this post first: http://mythicscribes.com/forums/dragons-egg-rpg/7263-dragons-egg-act-ii-59.html#post97166
Rydh has killed someone he liked in the past in a duel. In the culture he was raised in, dueling is how differences are resolved if the two parties cannot get through with words. However, Rydh is afraid to duel again because of the result of his last duel. He does not want to accidentally kill Mauve, even if she were to accept the duel. He's aware of how angry he is (which is due to the 'vision' he experienced when the harpy charmed him), and his anger is what led him to take the life of his former Commander. It doesn't help that there's still some part of him that likes Mauve in a romantic sense (hard to believe, I know).
So Rydh is faced with a situation with which he can find only one answer: Self-imposed exile. He knows of no other way to resolve the conflict, aside from injury or death. That's about it.
Don't get the idea the I'm quitting Dragon's Egg! I'm still here, dammit! I'll keep following the threads and throwing out comments or critiques when I can. If at some point Our Feline Overlord will allow it, I'll step back in to play with a new character. Until then I'll take a break, read the game posts, and get to work on some of my personal projects.
Again, I'm not doing this to spite anyone or get back at anyone in any way. It's a character thing.
Meantime, good luck with your rolls, everyone!
