Well Keit and Batos are working out well. I can't beleive i got a 23 for his grab! Rhyd is going NO WHERE!!

And as for Algernon... low damage but good strike? would that knock him out?

That won't knock him out. If that would knock him out, then players would be getting knocked out in every fight :) To knock him out, you have to reduce him to zero hit points one way or another - either through lethal or (preferably) non-lethal damage.

Hmmm. Cadell has a dilemma. XD He can't budge Darin, but he might be able to get at Matthew if he can jump over the dwarf and tackle his fellow knight. Only trouble is, that leaves the doorway unblocked except for Keit, and she's got her hands full with Algernon. :/

Apologies for double-posting. I can totally see this happening in the next round of posts:

Cadell: *spreads his arms* YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS!

Algernon, Darin, Matthew: *plow right into him and keep going*

Cadell: *trampled* No! *clings to someone's leg in an attempt to drag them back, only to be dragged along as well* You... shall not... pass! D=

The lake it is said never gives up her dead

Don't ask me how, but I swear I had a premonition of Algernon singing this. Really!

But if the wolf lets go, Rydh keeps walking.

You do have a stick and First Aid. Does First Aid prevent bleed-out? Of course, a non-HP-draining solution is preferable as long as one exists. I suppose that depends heavily on whether Baldy is about to rescue Mauve and Aliron from the charm. I'm not sure how far she needs to go or how long it will take. My bet is on out the door, and close it for a few seconds. My assumption is that closing the door ends the turn and the GM post confirms/denies that Baldy's plan works. It pushes shut, so I know the door-closing part will work.

well Keit is being dragged off with Cadell so... no luck there. and Batos will be alone in the room i think so someone will end up interacting with him. Maybe the valkyrie? (can't remember her name atm!!)

I don't think Nissa can interact with anyone but Baldhart when she's not visible and corporeal. So, no, that won't work either.

Nissa can't come out yet. I'm not sure how many in-game hours it's been since she appeared, but my guess is 3-4. It takes 5 hours for Baldhart to get her mana back. (Nissa Lv.2 = 3MP. Regeneration = 2/4 per hour while negative because Baldy's level 2, then the fifth hour brings her from zero to max… max being 1 MP. Hey… that's 1 more MP than the other barbarian gets!) Oh… and Nissa needs fire to manifest, and she's 2'3". Don't expect her to push anyone around.

She could grab a torch and light Algernon's beard, but I don't think her Goddess would be happy about that.

If Batos keeps moving Rydh AND if Baldy's plan works—it's up to you to gamble that—we'll have 3 people to rescue you. Of course, if that's totally out-of-character for Batos (to leave Keit held so he can drag a squirming cleric), I'll understand.

she has a spell hold over him, and though he would hate it he would do as she would say. then even if she couldn't affect him with her spells he would still follow her (she raised him sine he was a puppy ill have to bring up that story later) and the angry side of batos is one of many. he just isn't familliar with these new people yet.

beleive me he is a VERY old character and is really a softy. just give him time :p

Warning before hand these are OLD OLD drawings. atm i am oddly working on setting which i used to hate... so i may update my dev gallery and change the submissions with more updated works, so long as it doesn't clash with which ones i plan to sell. (my aunt in Holland does cards and wants to buy art from me so.... lotta pre-checks)

and final, when he is sad...

(Practiced the invert settings on my printer with this one with pretty good results)

I know a musical spell in real life. If I sing or play THIS, my 7-month-old will stop crying instantly, stare at me, smile, and sometimes wave her arms excitedly. I'm playing it now. Hannah is "charmed."

And, oh boy… Algernon must use Primary Instinct.

That's what I'd been expecting from the get-go… made the most sense to me, given the situation. ;)

P.s.: I'm seriously under the impression this monster is one of the monsters we should "confront" by doing this:

I'm still liking my alternative strategy… which I'm still in no position to communicate to anybody. Oh, well.

And as for Algernon... low damage but good strike? would that knock him out?

Unless he loses his DEX bonus to AC, it won't even hurt him… though under the circumstances, I'd assume he would lose the bonus, which would make that a bare hit.

I might add, just for the record, that damaging your own party members while they're on their way to an apparent confrontation may not be the best of all possible choices.

Nice post, Ravana! Now I have an image of Cadell flailing like Princess Fiona over Shrek's shoulder. "This is NOT DIGNIFIED! Put me down!"

Thanks. Though what I was most looking forward to was pulling that right after Baldhart ran up and tried to intimidate me. That would have taken "undignified" to a new level. :D

Oh, well… his hands are full now, so that isn't too likely to happen. Besides, it makes things neatly parallel: one barbarian is hauling two charmed party members one direction, the other barbarian is hauling two non-charmed party members the other direction. :p

Don't ask me how, but I swear I had a premonition of Algernon singing this. Really!

Heh. I've been making a list. I didn't have a clue how I was going to work that one in: best I'd come up with was to have it show up after a bunch of "simple" songs, just for the nonsequitur value. Then I realized it was the perfect song for this situation, drawing on the description of the effect Steerpike gave us.

P.S. While I usually avoid posting links… if there's anybody who does not recognize the song (most likely due to age differences), go check it out:

"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - Gordon Lightfoot (HD w/ Lyrics) - YouTube

(Visuals: boring. But with scrolling lyrics.)

Now that Baldy knows Intimidate does nothing, it is completely unlikely to happen. You don't think Badly's going to grab anyone up front if she doesn't have to, do you?

I expect STR checks from behind don't have any bonus and the opponent can break free, but I doubt someone trying to move forward will turn to lift as opposed to breaking free.

As for not damaging party members, I'd agree with that normally, but if a party member is carrying two others to their doom and it's a choice between one taking damage or three…

Well, just know that Baldy is doing all she can to avoid that becoming a choice. (Whether her current actions will pay off, we shall see.)
