Trying to get some work out to a client still tonight. Depending on how long it takes I'll update late tonight or first thing in the morning. Will also make a post about timeline issues.

Quick question, Steerpike. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but I want to be 100% sure. Does the hour allotted to Cadell for investigation-negotiation purposes begin as soon as he leaves the gnolls, or when he gets back to the village? Considering that the return journey will take at least half an hour, plus the unknown length of the battle, that might not leave Cadell much time to talk.

Cadell: Oh, good, fishes are dead! *bolts back to the Spear* Hey Gisla! I was told to tell you the gnolls want to come and search the village for Burnbright, even though everybody knows they won't find her here. They gave me an hour to let people know and ask for your say, but I was kinda delayed coming back, so that gives us, uh... *mental math* ...five minutes to decide on a yes or no before they come. Okay? ^^;;

Presumably the countdown begins when Cadell leaves. However, the gnolls are going to wait where they are for an hour, and then start toward town. So there will be additional time because it is going to take them a little while to get to Arendal and Cadell could meet them again en route.

Aliron was itching for a fight. Crit hit, max damage.
I believe that was a first for me in this game.(have done both individually, but never both at the same time.
Usually when I roll a 20, its a 1or 2 damage. Or if I roll an 8 damage, its with a to hit of 3.

I doubt I killed it, but I made sure it knows I'm there.

Hey Aliron, can Liadan borrow some of that awesomeness? She's had very little luck with her bow so far. :D

I rolled a good WIS save, but not good enough. Is a save 12/18, or like a check, 12/18 + something? (I'm assuming the latter, meaning everyone now knows Baldhart doesn't wear pajamas, but every save roll for me so far either was wayyyy over 12 with a prime, or was well under 18 with non-prime.)

A save is the base (12 or 18) plus something (difficulty to overcome what you're saving against). So if you're not prime and just hitting your base, most of the time you won't save. When you roll your save you add your ability modified and level to the roll.

Yeah, I'll patiently await the result of the check.

@Hall, here's how to do a WIS check:
embed

1d20 is the die, of course you know.
The +2 is Baldhart's level. (That's +1 for you, new guy!)
The -2 is her wisdom modifier. (She's a damn fool! Who else would swim naked on a winter night?)

In case you don't know what your WIS modifier is...

Attribute points vs. modifiers:
18 = +3
16-17 = +2
13-15 = +1
9-12 = 0
6-8 = -1
4-5 = -2
3 = -3

So you'll roll 1d20+1+WIS (one of those numbers in red)

well, if either Baldy or Hall does take a snooze, Liadan's next action will be to go down and try to help. Her STR bonus may come in handy there if she tries to drag/carry people up the stairs. And if I'm right, she also gets a +10 to her WIS save against the sleeping dust. (Steerpike, can you verify that before I do something stupid? XD)

Exactly. And that's on top of her normal +4 for WIS checks (which, thankfully, is prime), so there's very little chance of a failure depending on the difficulty level of the check. Even if she rolls a natural 1, the bonuses will make it a 15. :D

That's what I thought. I assume this not to be an exception, so I edited my in-game post to confirm sleepy time. If there's any reason Baldy should still be awake, I'll edit.

@Ireth, that's exactly why Baldhart climbed the 100 foot rope. Even the worst roll wouldn't result in a fall to her death.

Okay call me crazy but Keit is gonna do something drastic.

and if it works... *evil cackle*

oh it did -and wolves can naturally make themselves sound as if there are more than one. Keit's magic just... helped it a bit. :D

senseiseth -- much of roleplaying is exploring characters' reactions to situations, not just rolling dice and judging actions based on them. Why not have Hall react to the lizards, or show his thoughts as he succumbs to sleep (which I think he will, since WIS is non-prime for him as I recall, and he'd need an 18 to succeed in the check)? That's part of what makes this fun. :D
