I originally Thanked your post, but I withdrew it when I saw "Empathetic Con."

Correcting my grammar . . . . *grumbles and walks away* . . . .

I figured you were kidding, but still empathic and empathetic share the same meaning. If it ain't broke, isn't broken, don't fix it.

Also, click here and refresh your browser.

^ Awesome. Thanks Legendary.

I . . . err, hate to mention it, but it looks like you missed the skills.

And was it Use Empathy or +2 when using empathy?

Wow, misreading your preferred spelling of an adjective must have led to a chain reaction of misread posts, including my own post where I said you get a +2.

Refresh again. It's updated. Properly this time, I think.

For those trying to figure out how stunts balance, Devor gets +2 for skills used in ways the skills are normally used. Because Rapport is not normally an attack, the stunt is to use it as an attack under a certain condition.

If I can figure out a good way to compile a list of sample stunts, I will. (Maybe just copy-paste the ones in the PDF. Seriously… they're all over the place in terms of function!)

Yeah, it's confusing to me too. I modeled mine after others in there. But there's a list in there of three ways to do a stunt:

+2 to a narrowed use of a skill. So +2 Empathy, but only if using Empathy to get info on a heist. +2 Stealth, but only if he's carrying his wand.

Add an action to a skill that's not normally covered in the description of that skill. So using Rapport to deal mental attacks. Maybe using Athletics to tackle someone? That kind of thing. The action still needs to be narrow and has to make sense for the skill. And if it's "too powerful," you can, for instance, make it require a Fate point, or limit how often it's used.

Bend any Rule (except for those concerning Fate points). This one confuses me so I didn't use it.

Anyone who refreshes their browser NOW will say, "What is Devor talking about? That is clearly a +2 which looks nothing like the =2 that was there a few minutes ago."

PS- Ariel is updated too.

Awesome. ^^ Though, I had a thought just now... given that Ariel wears "handmade animal-hide" clothes, and presumably makes other things from animal parts, she should have Craft as one of her skills. I'm thinking of possibly replacing Deceive with Craft. Is that acceptable?

Hello everyone!

I meant to post this WAY earlier, but stuff got in the way. I'd love to join Flat Earth. Here is a rough character sheet -- I'm pretty new to RP / forum RPGs so please let me know if I got anything wrong, or if something can be improved!

Character Name: Dila Natore (Human)
Description: Dila is a mercenary who tends to drift around different companies. She's restless and doesn't like to stay in one place for too long. She's known for her excellent skill at the crossbow. She's very (some say too!) cautious prefers attacking from a position of safety.
Appearence: Straight black hair, worn clothes, leather vest. Carries a crossbow and a few knives.

Aspects:
One of the best at the crossbow.
Restless and impatient, doesn't make friends easily
Extremely cautious

Skills:

Great: Shoot
Good: Notice, Stealth
Fair: Physique, Contacts, Provoke
Average: Will, Fight, Decieve, Craft

I'm especially unsure of the Aspects ... let me know if I should change anything! I'll leave the stunts for now, not sure what those should be.

It's all good. Welcome to the game. I'll attempt to draw your character, and we can expect to get into combat soon.

You're in the wilderness of Roku-Roku Island right now. Why you're there is up to you, but given that your character is observant, you can't possibly have missed that bolt of lightning. Given your cautious nature, feel free to go into stealth mode.

If you're not new to Roku-Roku Island (volcanic island where six Huntresses are among the well-known locals), you would immediately recognize Lily.

Here's a goofy drawing from years ago to introduce the six Huntresses. Ariel also met all six, since she had to (sort of) "choose" her instructor.

Their actions might hint at their good/great traits, making Rose the best shot, Violet the best tracker, etc.

Two things:

1- Other players can go ahead and roll Investigate.

2- I'm actually coloring with CRAYOLA MARKERS! Here's Devor's character. Positions are (1) calm/tiptoe, (2) fight!, (3) KO'd. And that's Leppy's comatose face peeking out of the gem on top of the wand.

EDIT - If you only see Furtano, refresh and you'll see Lily and Ariel, too.

Hehe. He's goofy lookin'. Pink Pantherish. Reminds me of a very old, dumb movie of a burglar who used a magnet to steal a key through the door.

I'll take it.

I have a few things I need to get done but I'll catch up and jump in before too long.

Temporary art for Dila and old Mariya art for now. I doubt I'll get to any more artwork all weekend, but at least there's enough that I can now run the game.

I think I'll try a dark brown or even purple for Dila's dark hair. Black is too dark, and gray looks too old even if I darken it in PhotoShop. Her proportions are off anyway, so I'll redraw her.

I go out for a couple of hours and everybody starts investigating stuff without me. XDDD Not sure what's left for Ariel to notice or comment on!

Some stunt suggestions you can consider, of those in need of stunts…

"Silent but Deadly" is one of Lily's, which gives her +2 to shoot if shooting in stealth mode. Note that attacking draws attention, making you easier to notice—or at least the direction of the attack can be determined.

Similarly, Mariya could have "Whisper in the Wind" or "Echoing Thunder," allowing her to cast a spell song without being discovered. (Whisper makes the song silent; Echo makes her song echo from her hidey-hole so her voice cannot be pin-pointed. Both have the same effect: when Mariya attacks, she's no easier to notice than before she attacked, though this should only work once per scene.)

A shooter could have a "Sniper" stunt that has the same effect as whisper, allowing a shot without breaking silence.

Another good shooting stunt is one that will affect your fail roll. "Hold Your Friendly Fire" or whatever you'd call it would mean if your shot fails, you simply do not fire. This means there is no risk of accidentally shooting an ally or innocent. (Normally if you fail when shooting, there's a change you'll hit a different target. Without getting into how the different target is chosen, I'll tell you that it's based on the four dice and relative positions between you and your target.)

Just some suggestions if you're still stuck on ideas.

NOTE: The most recent post was edited, but you need to open the spoiler tag to see the edit!

PS- Let me know if you guys like my use of spoilers rather than GM PM. The idea is to let every player read every part of the adventure, even the parts that only one or two characters experience.
