Am I to assume Diana's attempt at helping Reaver did nothing, then? o_O I suppose it wasn't a great roll, in any case...

I said the others helped them aboard. I should've been specific and used names. I'll edit.

It helped in the way that Reaver could move faster. And yes, it made a difference.

EDIT - I edited the post to specify names and actions.

But either you or he said that something pulled Reaver underwater by his ankle... THAT was what Diana was trying to pull him away from, not that she was just helping him help Vincent aboard. I think I'm the one confused now. :/

I use my wife's iPad sometimes, which auto-corrects way more often than I'm ever ready for. If it was my PM that said "ankle," I probably meant "angle." Well… rather than sift through posts and PM's, I'll clarify here:

When Vincent and Shan Mai were thrown overboard, they were disoriented. The figure they saw coming from afar was Daphne the mermaid, but they had no idea what she was or which direction she was coming from. Reaver was not disoriented, so when he saw Daphne from afar, he knew that the rapidly approaching figure came from the Black and Blue Oyster.

His second time under would have taken some time. Daphne moves much faster than people in the water. Thus, she is now close enough to see.

As for the enemy ship, it's still puffing thick, black, unseethroughable smoke.

Well, maybe my PM to Reaver was confusing. I mentioned something approaching in my PM to him, and that was the mermaid (unrecognizable at the time). She didn't grab him.

I don't know, I just played off of what Reaver posted. *shrug* He mentioned grabbing, so...

In any case, now that we're on the same page, did Diana's roll do anything to get Reaver back in the boat or not, whether Daphne did or did not grab him?

I was ninja'd while preparing art and Shan Mai would be ready to swim on his own by the time Vincent is on the skiff. So let's go with what's on the map. Reaver hasn't saved Shan Mai yet and there's no frogman or other creature to grab him as far as he can tell. I know it's easy for us writers to get carried away and be creative, but any threat I didn't mention doesn't exist—especially if I didn't draw it yet!

Right now, Shan Mai's under water and Daphne is using some kind of magic that allows him to breathe. As Reaver goes under to save him, he also discovers he is able to breathe.

I put the parts that "don't count" in spoiler tags. (I don't feel comfortable deleting it without permission.) I like that Reaver's quick to rescue Shan Mai, but since Shan Mai now knows which way is up, I'd like Shan Mai to be able to react to his surroundings if he wants to post RP this weekend. Since an NPC is present, please don't fast-forward out of the water. Only the samurai characters see the mermaid. Vincent saw a shadowy figure rapidly approach during the rescue. He noticed that the shape was too slender to be a frogman. He now realizes that it came from the direction of the Oyster, not the Frog Prince.

The amazon and muse have some creative freedom to walk and talk. They're confined to the ship for now, but not to the bedroom.

@Ruby, just a note -- I rather doubt your character knows any of the other characters by name yet, so having her use their names in her narration/observation kinda breaks immersion a bit. Might want to watch out for that. :) You could call Diana "a/the brown-haired woman" or somesuch until Fenella is actually introduced to her and the rest.

Hi Ireth, yes I wasn't sure about this! I did mention Reaver in a previous post and no one commented so I wasn't sure! In fact, Fenella (and I) haven't got a clue what's going on at the moment.

I must have missed that. ^^; Anyway, now you know for future reference. Don't worry that you don't know what's going on - I think that's kinda the point right now. Pretty sure LS will see to it that you're filled in on the details as your characters find out more.

Ireth's correct that the princess shouldn't know any player characters (PCs) other than her muse. You'll have a chance to introduce yourselves soon enough, and what the bubble does will become sort of clear. Or maybe it won't.

At any rate, I'm working on a multi-room map now. Things worth noting:
* Barrels - they either contain food or gunpowder. Fire and lightning tend to set off entire stacks of powder kegs, but barrels of food just get singed.
* Stealth - useful in dark rooms with objects to hide behind. You need to make the stealth roll when enemies aren't around. The muse's control over sound allows her to move in complete silence. She's undetectable to humans (regardless of the die roll) as long as there are places to hide, such as stacks of barrels, shelves, holes in the wall, etc.
* Agility - useful when there are places to climb, including structures that require delicate movement. Also useful for tucking and rolling if you goof and fall down!
* Strength - more useful for climbing EXCEPT when delicate movement is required, so forget about navigating the tightrope. You can also use strength to throw heavy things such as barrels or cannon balls.
* Size - now that we have a tiny character, I think there should be places only she can access.
