Rikhard looked up from his meal and decided he might as well speak his piece.
"I've met people like those brigands before -- people who kidnap and kill and enslave without pity, all to build themselves up by hurting others. Those I knew never repented of their deeds, and I think they deserve to die. But I think too that sometimes people can change for the better. If that change is sincere, then they deserve a second chance."
He met the brigand's eyes. "I don't know what gods you worship, but ask yourself how they'd feel about what you've done. Do you feel justified in harming the innocent for your own gain?"
