Testing New Chat System

Hey gang,

We're testing out a new chat system. To access it, you will need to log out of Mythic Scribes, clear your browser's cache, and then log back in.

Please let us know your thoughts on the new system. If it doesn't work out, we'll return to CometChat.

I've logged out, cleared my cache, and logged back in and I haven't been able to access anything.. The previous chat on the bottom of the screen is no longer there, but there is no chat system available as far as I can see.

I clicked the word balloon icon on the blue chat bar, and the entire graphic went away. I don't know where it went, but not somewhere where I can see it or access chat.

I think it said click to log in, so maybe I'm logged in chat now and just don't know it. If anyone's chatting with me, sorry, I can't see any of the chat stuff.

Oh… in the time it took me to type that, I got into chat! I'm all alone, but my Addison icon is cute (and not my current avatar).

It appears to be the worst incarnation of chat yet, you can't even invite people in it and it takes more work to reopen when you close out it... lol

It also blocks a more obtrusive part of the screen than the old one, even in 'compact' mode.

This is pretty much exactly my experience. I logged out, cleared cache, logged back in, nothing. While out I saw the same stuff at the top of the page. I even tried a different browser and cleared everything. Still do not see the chat.

After awhile I went back to the site and noticed I was logged out. I'm fairly certain I left myself logged in, so what that you guys that did that? Anyway, it's working fine now.

I like it. I think it's the right size and in the right spot (if you have your zoom on 90%, which I usually always do, it's perfect for using the forum while also chatting at the same time.) I wish there was the option to make your own chatroom like the previous chat, but other than that I really like it.

I'm liking this chat better then the previous one. The lack of colored text is disappointing. But it seems much smoother and I haven't been logged out yet which is a big improvement.

(I use chrome)

We appreciate the feedback thus far.

While our previous chat system had more features, the layout didn't facilitate active, populated chatrooms. Our hope is that this new chat system will result in more chatroom activity.

This is a trial run, and if it doesn't go well, we'll revert to the previous system.

UPDATE:

We just added avatars to the chatroom. If your avatar isn't showing up, log out of Mythic Scribes and log back in.

I'm still not seeing anything... I logged out, cleared my cache, logged in again, nothing, tried it again and closed my browser, still don't see any icon/bar/window. I'm in Chrome. Not sure what fixed it for other people?

If the chat system isn't appearing for you, please post which browsers you have tried, and the version number of each browser. That will help us to zero in on the problem.

Also, try using a different browser, and let us know if that makes a difference. The more info that you provide us with, the better. Thanks.

I've used both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Neither worked.

Firefox: 39.0

Explorer: 11.0.9600.17842

I haven't tried the new chat, but I just wanted to weigh in because I used to be an active chatter. The first chat we had years ago was my favorite. I loved that you could use private chat to invite several people and it had a really easy scroll feature. This last one was pretty much the reason I stopped chatting, because group chats sucked and even private chats failed to have the better scroll function and the group ones just logged you out at random and it sucked. I'm looking forward to a higher-functioning chat system, so if this works, I'll be back on the group chats! I'm sort of too stupid to clear my cache though. not sure where or how to do that...but I'll give it a go, because I miss the active chats we used to have!

It works fine for me on the desktop but not on my phone, and I used to be able to chat on my phone. Other than that I like the new system :)
