Vincent's premonition seems like nothing more than the fears of a concerned husband at first. Through a hole in the wall at Brown's, he spies PJ, JJ and Olga rushing toward the Dans' dojo.

Dread churns in my stomach as I see PJ, JJ and Olga. I rush to follow them, shouting to the others over my shoulder. "Looks like the fighting's not over yet!"

As I near the alley, I see Diana, Hanako, Riff and Addy amidst five enemies -- two cyclapes and three men. One of the apes seems to be dead, and the other is wounded. Diana and company seem to be holding their own, but for how long? I can't intervene from this distance, even magically. Good thing PJ and his comrades are on their way too!

((Note: Ireth knows this, but for everyone else's info: if you're following Vincent, you're close enough to see a battle in the street, but too far to intervene. Vincent's narrative should suffice as a description.))

"I'm with Fenella. Holst is dead, time to celebrate!" I laugh, my instinct sated from all this blood-shedding business. Revenge is sweet, and best served with a chicken shot and a strong swing! Now to find Riff and then we can begin our search for this Spirit-goddess. However, as we reach the street, I fill with a strange dread as I see more of those infernal three-eyed bozos! Holst is croaked, ain't he? Shouldn't his hocus-pocus have dissipated at his death, or is just me?

Readying my bow and knocking an arrow, I follow the group as we scramble to reach them.

Jeisera sees Riff turn into a rock, stunning her target. Olga and the Jackals rush to aid Diana, Riff, Hanako, and Addison…

However, Master Dan V and his grandfather, Dan III, crash through the dojo's back wall and easily dispatch the remaining opponents before the others arrive. Dan IV (whose belt was hung up on a broken board for a few seconds, preventing him from getting into the battle) congratulates his son's three-opponent combo, but Dan V admits that his attack pales in comparison to his grandfather's flawless execution of a technique known as the Legendary Sidekick.

I smile in relief as three men burst out of the dojo and finish off the remaining enemies, leaving the rest of us to reunite in peace. I bow to the three Dans in gratitude, then turn to Diana.

Diana

I step back in surprise at the sudden arrival of the three samurai from the dojo, and smile in gratitude as they swiftly finish the ape and the three men. Turning, I see Vincent leading the others in our direction. I sheathe my sword and sign to my husband, half-jokingly, Nice of you to show up!

Vincent

I laugh as Diana signs to us, and pull her into a grateful hug. She's unharmed, I'm very happy to note. Pulling back, I check the environs for any sign of more enemies.

As the fight is finshed by the other samurai, I pull my swords and clean them well.
"Clean enough to eat with." I say as I slip the first blade back into the scabbard.
If need be I will work on the edges with a stone.

Dan III bows to Riff. "Excelling technique, little lady?" He scratches his beard. "Weren't you taller last time I saw you?"

Dan V sees Vincent and returns his bow, as does his father.

The protective bubbles around our heroes dissipate. Dan IV (who seems disappointed that the very belt that displays his grandmaster rank prevented him from joining his father and son in the fight) searches for signs of trouble. Two drunks walk by. The bald one is holding a rag to his forehead which appears to be stained with blood. The scruffy one is disoriented, hair over his forehead matted together with a gelatinous ooze. A mother with two children sees the dead men and apes. She holds her children close. Addison assures her all is safe, but the mother and children seek an alternate route home.

Dan IV says, "It seems the lot of you have seen some action tonight." Emma mumbles something about the understatement of the year, but Dan IV reacts to Shan Mai's words. He bows to the samurai. "Speaking of cleaning and eating.... I suggest all of you clean up, then come to the dojo in one hour. We are not great cooks, but we will see to it that you are well fed."

I incline my head to Dan IV in gratitude. "Thank you."

I look around for a place to clean up, but Diana tugs me toward Lara's. Her thoughts reveal that Bee is waiting there. I follow her readily, eager to see Bee again -- as no doubt she is eager to see us both alive and safe.

Beatrice rushes to Diana and gives her a hug. "Everyone survived," She says knowingly. "And Holst is defeated." She looks at Vincent and the others. "I realize you had little choice but to fight. Just the same, thank you all for making such a brave stand against a demon! My sister, the one you know as The Voice, told me what happened. She was watching you. She said you did not require Her intervention, and that you made defeating a demon look almost too easy. Those were Her words! And Claire is not one to exaggerate!"

There are other women in the store. None look particularly clean, but all are very well dressed in gowns from Lara's shop. Vincent is quick to notice that there's not a single purse among the women. They are barefoot, disheveled, and wearing some of the finest gowns in town. As yet another woman exits the dressing room, Lara is asking if she likes the way it feels. Shaken, the woman replies, "I love it."

Diana

I hug Beatrice back, and Vincent soon joins in. I smile down at the young goddess as She speaks, then look around at the others in the shop. No doubt they took refuge here from the apes and three-eyed men. They look shaken, but unharmed. Are these the same women we helped escape from the brothel?

One woman says that she loves the way her new dress feels, and I smile knowingly and sign in answer. Vincent or Bee will no doubt translate for me.

Vincent

I look at the barefoot but well-dressed women who cluster in the shop, and note not one purse between them. Lara's clear generosity brings a smile to my lips. Diana signs to one who speaks, and I translate. "There's more to all those dresses than meets the eye. May they serve well to protect you from harm."

Indeed, these are the same women from the brothel. They are nervous when our heroes enter, but Diana's signed words calm a small dark-haired girl who appears to be in her late teens. She signs back to Diana, There is more to Lara than meets the eye. Of all the dress shops in town, I thought this would be the last place that would accept us. Lara knew what we were when we walked in, but she welcomed us without hesitation.

Beatrice smiles sadly as Lara cares for the prostitutes. When Emma walks in, one rushes into her arms. Emma whispers, "Brown is dead." Her tone and the prostitutes expression imply that neither will mourn the man.

Emma and Hanako each give Lara several coins. Emma says to Hanako, "They are my flock, Sister. Let me take care of them."

Hanako replies, "I am, Sister. My money is for a kimono I would like the tailor to make for me."

Lara tells one nun, "You'll have to get in line for measuring." To the other, she insists, "These ladies will not be charged." She doesn't address either as Sister, since neither looks like a nun.

Diana

I smile as a young girl signs back to me. She looks only a little older than Ariel; that thought fills me with pity. A shame, it seems to me, to be brought into such a life at a young age. And how long has she been there already?

I shake off those thoughts and look around, wondering what to do now. The prostitutes seem to be in good hands, but there are things to take care of before we join the Dans and the others back at the dojo. Corpses of men and apes still litter the streets, and they won't clean up themselves.

Vincent

Diana's thoughts and Emma's whispered words remind me of the corpses still left in the smoldering restaurant. I think we should give them a proper burial, and inform Mrs. Brown and any other family of the deceased. Will we have time for that before we're meant to meet the Dans, or will it have to wait?

As the adrenaline rush of battle wears off, I realize just how tired I am. How many more long, stressful days like this can I handle? I've never had the strongest constitution.

I smile wanly. "Would if I could, but there's still work to be done. We should find somewhere to bury the dead, as well as tending to the living." I look around, wondering if anyone else would be willing to help with the corpses, or if Diana and I will have to handle that ourselves.

Emma perks up at Vincent's words. "I'll help."

The woman embracing her winces. "Moving dead bodies? Sounds gross."

Emma replies, "Not if you're a telepath."

Emma levitates the woman, moving her a few feet back. Vincent senses that Emma barely had a hold on her, but fortunately, the woman is barely over 100 pounds.

"I guess I still need to work on that," she confesses. "I normally combine telekinesis with fighting moves. I guess I never considered what else I could do."

The prostitute grins, herself contemplating what Emma might do with her mind.

I incline my head to Emma as she speaks. "Thank you."

I ruffle Bee's hair, then head out with Diana at my side. We come to the corpses nearest the dojo, and quickly get to work. I start with the smaller of the human corpses, knowing I'm not as strong as Diana.

Diana

Vincent and Emma are lucky to have telekinesis on their side. Me, I have to get my hands dirty. I huff a sigh through my nose and heft one of the human corpses.

Is it just me, or am I stronger than I thought I was?

Emma decides that her telekinesis is too untrained to lug heavy corpses very far. She suggests to Vincent, "Perhaps we can put our heads together and move the larger bodies."

I nod in agreement with Emma. Those apes are going to be a chore to deal with. "Whereabouts should we bury these?"

((LS, since my internet access will likely be intermittent at best for a while, I think I should PM you Vincent and Diana's next few corpse-moving rolls while I have the chance, so things can move on a tad quicker. What say you?))

Emma ponders for a moment—and for a split second, Vincent feels that Emma lost her concentration, forcing him to bear the full weight of the floating corpse until Emma realizes her mistake. After a moment of silence as she refocuses her telekinetic hold, Emma replies, "Why not toss them into Brown's? We'll need to start another fire to finish the place off anyway. We can cremate the bodies there."

She has mixed feelings about Brown's death. "I may need to recover Brown's body. I should tell his wife the news as well. She suspected an affair between us, but the truth is worse. I don't think she knew he controlled the brothels, among other 'businesses' on the south side of town."

((Rolling is optional for this RP. If you want, you could just use the 13/16 to say Vince and Diana do a decent job moving the bodies, or you can choose to PM/post some rolls to let the dice decide whether your characters struggle or move each body with ease.))
